Has anyone watched ETv or listened to Sunrise Fm, recently? Chime's Administration did some improvement in Enugu State Broadcasting Service [ESBS]. A lot of young people injected into the system. And Etv is now on star times cable network.
He did a great job with the rebranding of ESBS. I now listen to radio more than bfore. It has also provided employment for the youth.

Asking Buhari if he supports sharia (which is part of out constitution btw) is like asking GEJ back then if he supported the Niger Delta struggle, or asking a Christian president if he supports Christian education.

It is a tricky question which can cause disaffection if met with a "yes" or "no" response. The president must be tactful in responding. But I am sure you will not agree because you never saw anything good in Buhari. So enjoy your moment of glory.
Sharia is not part of our constitution. It's a regional stuff adopted by some states mostly in northwest. Some actually argue it violates The constitution of Nigeria.

It seems you didn't get me. Less than 20% of us who applied for NAUTH got it. In that of Orthopaedic Hospital, Enugu that I didn't get, only 5% of those who applied got it. That of FMC Owerri was worse (although I didn't go because I was oblivious of the interview but was told by my colleagues that went).

It took some of my colleagues over a year to get a placement. It took me close to 3 months or thereabout. So don't think that your generation is being maltreated. My sister is an intern at the moment so I'm in tune with you guys. You are not alone wink

I still maintain that something has to give. Place or Time. If Time is of priority to you, then spread your search to all the geopolitical zones within the country,
There are people always on the road for one interview or the other in different zones of the country that are still searching especially for medical laboratory scientists. Some have given up and have opted for NYSC after about 2 years. It's just obvious you have the connection. Enjoy your privilege and stop generalizing.

You don't know for a fact that they were not engaged because they were not from there. Even if they see it that way, it doesn't make it true. Maybe the one from there played his politics right and got it despite the hospital not wanting to give any of them. Please we don't need this right now.
They may have also considered the language as many of the patients may not be able to speak English.
First are they meant to play any form of politics for a housejob placement? Second the hospital asked them to come for the interview because they lack house officers. The number that came for the interview were less than number of available spaces. They had to stay back for a month because an internal source told them that the MD wasn't around to sign their already typed appointment letters. The guy came back and signed only one. Language may be a criterion when you have a lot of people struggling for few positions but definitely not in current maiduguri that only people who are tired of staying at home go to. Meanwhile they were able to manage some bomb blast victims while waiting so I see language as no excuse.

I also searched for Internship placements during my time. I applied at National Orthopaedic Hospital, Enugu; NAFDAC, Lagos; Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital, Nnewi; and even the National Orthopaedic Hospital at Igbobi. The search took me some months but I eventually got that of Nnewi. So I guess I should know something about internship undecided

The real reason why medical graduates waste time before getting an internship placement is because he or she prefers to do his or her internship in a preferred location (maybe for proximity or security reasons) and with a preferred institution (maybe for pecuniary or familiarity reasons).

And there's nothing wrong with that. However something has to give. If you want a perfectnnewi place, then time has to give. But if you want a perfect time, then place had to give.......that's just the heisenberg principle of life.
Same thing the older generation will tell you about how they didn't sweat to get one. Those that went to Maiduguri in search of a placement and came back disappointed after a month there plus the humanitarian services rendered were also considering proximity and security Abi. Things have changed. The same nnewi you did your internship is now a no go area if you don't have the connection or two hundred thousand or more especially for non-indigenes.
Ask your younger colleagues from 2013 till date.

why were they rejected? I thought the north has shortage of medical doctors. Do they use connections there too
Of course the hospital has some slots available( about 12, which made the hospital call for interview. Maybe they were disappointed cos of the 6 people present for the interview only 1 was from the north, others were Igbo. So only the northern guy got the job.
There are spaces in the northeast but they rather remain short of staff than give "nyamiri".
A lot of tribalism, nepotism and fraud going on in this internship stuff.

Why is getting admission into medical school "something we need to struggle to get?" Why do we need to write UTME and Post-UTME despite having 5 credits in our WASSCE?

If you can answer those questions, you should find the reason why one should struggle to get internship placements in the various certified establishments.
Bros chill cos it's obvious you know nothing about medical internship/housemanship.
It is compulsory just like law school before you go for your NYSC. And there are designated hospitals licensed for the internship.
For doctors, if you don't get a place within a stipulated time your license expires and you pay for another license before you can start hunting again. So it's not same with normal hustle for job which every doctor will still do after NYSC.
No housemanship, no NYSC.

One of the major problems facing the Medical graduands now as regards Internship placing is as a result of the "UNREST" in the North Western

states of our dear country as fresh graduands are scared of traveling down to such states for placement as a result mounting pressure on the few

facilities in other Zones which are overwhelmed by a larger variable and it is sad to note that most Health facilities in such crisis prone states

have a higher capacity to absorb most prospective interns compared to other zones.
Forget the unrest. I know 5 doctors who just came back from maiduguri yesterday after staying there for a month waiting for a housejob placement in either the specialist hospital or UMTH. They even helped out in management of some of the recent bomb victims when the doctors available were overwhelmed by the number of patients. Even went through an interview but were finally rejected based on place of origin while the only northerner present for the interview got a slot. It's that bad.
It's either you have the connection or you pay up.

SportsI Will Not Take Insults To My Dead Mother – Enyeama Finally Speaks by Kcinho(op): 12:48pm On Oct 07, 2015
Vincent Enyeama has given a hint as to what
happened, when he arrived the Super Eagles camp in Belgium on Tuesday.

The national team goalkeeper and captain,
arrived after Monday’s deadline, after he
was permitted to report late, following the
burial ceremony of his late mother in Akwa
Ibom.

Upon his arrival, the Lille stopper tried to
explain why he showed up late, Oliseh
ordered him to leave the hotel and went
ahead to call on security officials to bundle
him out.

The NFF intervened in the situation and
Enyeama ended up staying with the team.
He has now taken to Instagram, to post that
“After 13years of national service,having
this smiles on my face and this passion in
my heart.through the billows, the waves of
the ocean, the tears of defeat, the sound of
rejoicing from victory chants.now the
thought of being stripped naked and
security agents throwing me out breaks me
completely.I will take anything but not insult
to my dead mother.”

It is still not certain that the 101-cap
goalkeeper, will choose to continue with the
squad, after such humiliation in the hands
of Oliseh.

Peace
You have your answer right there..... UNN. The University has brought and keeps bringing individuals from every part of the country and even west Africa. The University town already has some infrastructure from the old eastern region which have been allowed to rot. UNN exposes a lot of individuals to the area yearly. Develop the area and see some of those who pass(ed) through the university contributing by coming/staying back to invest. Aside Enugu town, Nsukka is the next in terms of popularity, real estate, town planning, population(indigenes/non-indigenes), market, education(established secondary schools), mass media(a new FRCN, lion fm, NTA in view), hospitality(new hotels springing up) etc mostly resulting from the efforts of the federal government. I wonder why previous administrations refused to continue from where the federal government stopped by giving us another mega city as obtainable in Anambra and delta. Development of Nsukka town can run concurrently with that of Ninth-mile and Emene.
Every other region will get its attention subsequently. Udi town or Agbani would be next.

Any evidence to back your claim? Cos even with okwesilieze nwodo as the first Secretary General of PDP and later Chairman they gave other zones the shot at Governorship and had to wait 16 years. Meanwhile none of the governors can boldly point at major projects executed in the zone for 16 years(each of them focused on their zone). So they have every right to develop theirs now that the ball is in their court. Actually every reasonable indigene knows the Nsukka town should be the next major city if we really want to develop Enugu.
PoliticsWe Did Not Kidnap Olu Falae – Fulani Herdsmen by Kcinho(op): 8:15pm On Oct 05, 2015
The Association of Fulani Chiefs and the Miyetti Allah
Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) has
denied having a hand in the kidnap of former
Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Chief Olu Falae.

The group said if it were true that those
who committed the act were Fulani
herdsmen, such persons could not have been
genuine members of the association.
MACBAN Chairman in Ondo State, Bello
Garba, at a press conference in Lagos,
yesterday, therefore, faulted the pan-
Yoruba group, Afenifere, for calling for the
expulsion of Fulani herdsmen from the
South-West.

Garba admitted that Fulani herdsmen
usually encroached on farms but argued
that no Fulani herdsman would abandon his
cattle and go about abducting people.
His words: “We have been relating with
security agencies and we have never had
any issue with residents before. The
disagreement with farmers has been ongoing
for sometime but we have mediated and
settled it on several occasions.

“Most of the Fulani people that came into
Ondo came in as cattle breeders and you
don’t expect them to just leave their
animals and be kidnapping. We have been
residing in Ondo State for more than 100
years and no one has ever accused us of
any heinous crime in Ondo State or caught
us with weapons.

“As an Ondo resident, I condemn this act.
Clearly, this is impersonation. We live with
our families in Ondo. How can we engage in
such an act? We are pleading with law
enforcement agents to do more investigation
and expose the real perpetrators.”

It's not just infrastructure but market. The musicians get most of their pay from performances at events and shows. Most of these you get mostly in Lagos daily or weekly and sometimes in Abuja. Hence everyone wants to be in Lagos to be considered. You dont get serious events or shows in Enugu that often.
Sales from albums released would have kept a few back but they rarely make anything from that cos of piracy.

The way things are going in East, the North may wake up one day and see no trailer loads of cattle or livestock is heading to East.

East has embraced agriculture more than anybody, am still looking shaa.

For poultry farmers in Enugu State and the
South-East region – their major headache –
travelling far distances to get day-old chicks has
been completely cured.
Before now, the farmers had relied on
hatcheries in the South-West and other regions
of the country for their farms.
But last week, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of
Enugu State and other relevant stakeholders
officially commissioned the ultra-modern
Animal Health Farms and Hatcheries, a
privately-owned hatchery built in partnership
with the state government through the
Commercial Agricultural Development Project
(CADP) and the World Bank.
The commissioning of the hatchery has seen
poultry farmers in the region now heaving a sigh
of relief.
This is as the hatchery, which is capable of
producing 30,000 eggs in a week, would reduce
the hardship experienced by poultry farmers in
the state and the South-East geo-political zone in
travelling far distances to buy day-old chicks
from other regions.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony
and first roll out of Day-Old Chicks (DOCs) of the
hatchery, Ugwuanyi commended the
establishment, describing it as a laudable
gesture which would greatly enhance poultry
farming in the state.
The governor, who was represented by the state
Commissioner for Agriculture and Water
Resources, Mike Eneh, noted that aside
relieving poultry farmers in the state of the
stress of going to the South-West to procure
DOCs, the hatchery would also help in providing
jobs for the teeming youths of the state.
His words: “This is the second hatchery in the
South-East and also in South-South and from
what we have seen so far, I think people from
Kaduna and Kano also take their own chicks from
this direction. Apart from reducing the stress
witnessed while going to buy DOCs from outside
the state and the risk of transporting them,
another thing it did was that it reduced the cost
of day-old chicks from 250 to about 180. So, we
are quite delighted. We thank the World Bank
and commercial agriculture project for their
support in this too.
“Initially, poultry was nothing in Enugu. But
thank God that today, it has grown in leaps and
bounds, being the fourth in the country and
second in the South-East and South-South. Last
year, I recall that the net addition of the poultry
industry, outside hatchery, to the economy of
Enugu State is about 1.48 billion. The reason is
simple; Enugu has one of the best weather
conditions for poultry industry in Nigeria. So, we
hope to invest more in poultry production in the
near future.”
The governor also disclosed the state
government’s plan to initiate policies aimed at
the overall development of other areas of
farming such as cashew production.
According to him, “Enugu State has one of the
best cashews in the world in terms of quality.
There are two important things we need to do.
One is the aggregation center which we
proposed to build in Obollo Afor and the second
thing concerns geo-products.”
He said that he would “support any community
that is willing to give us land, so that we can
train these farmers, give them seedlings so that
they can plough them in five hectares as an
enterprise and also create jobs”.
Also speaking, the National Coordinator of
CADP, Dr Babandi Amin, praised the
management of the company for deeming it fit
to establish the hatchery, pointing out that it
would go a long way in boosting poultry farming
not only in the state but also in the entire
country.
Dr Amin harped on the need to sustain the
venture, saying that the issue was not really on
establishment but in making efforts to sustain
what was already on ground.
“We should also be looking at the results we are
getting. Are the results commensurate with the
inputs we are making or are they below the
expectations? We should also look at the
demand of poultry in the state and be able to
determine whether what we have on ground
already is meeting these demands or not. It is
when these things are considered that we will
be able to say we are reaching our goals of
making these poultry products available to our
people accordingly,” he said.
Also speaking, the Manager, Animal Health
Farms and Hatcheries, Dr Benjamin Oguejiofor,
explained that part of why the hatchery was
established was to compensate for the
treatment meted to day-old chicks distributors,
especially those from the South Eastern part of
the country by already existing hatcheries that
are mostly located in the South-West.
He noted that due to the fact that over 80 per
cent of the hatcheries in the country are located
in the South-West, people from the state while
going to purchase DOCs, usually involve in great
risks which he listed as threat to lives
occasioned by night travels, exposure to armed
robbery, road accidents, chick mortalities,
among others.
According to him, the vision of setting up the
hatchery was actualized with the emergence of
the state Commercial Agriculture Development
Project (CADP), which he said has played a great
role to seeing that the hatchery was established.
“The success story of CADP intervention is why
we are here today, to celebrate dream come
true”, he said.
While pointing out that the hatchery has a total
egg capacity for 95,040 with a multi-stage setter
capable of handling 30,000 eggs every week, Dr
Oguejiofor expressed hope that the hatchery
would not only provide poultry farmers in the
state with quality and viable day-old chicks, but
would also provide over 100 jobs mostly to
natives of Enugu State and others by extension.
He, therefore, called on the state government
and other relevant stakeholders in the state to
key into the idea of improved poultry
production in the state, adding that “if we are
able to improve on the little we already have
now, Enugu State will soon emerge as one of the
best states in terms of poultry production”.
Also commenting, the state Coordinator of
CADP, Mr Robinson Nduaguba, expressed
optimism that the hatchery was a sign of more
good things for farmers in the state, adding that
“this is a form of provocation to the youths in
Enugu State to go into a project that will keep
them very busy and make the state to be a food
security zone.
“I know that Enugu State is already creating an
enabling environment for private sector
investors and the example shown by this
establishment is quite challenging. We will do
everything possible to make sure that this
establishment doesn’t relax. Instead, it will
continue to improve and by so doing meet the
expectations of our people.”

AFENIFERE, a Pan-Yoruba Socio Political
group yesterday rose from an emergency
meeting in Akure, the Ondo state capital
and called for the stoppage of cattle
rearing activities in the south West
states following the menace of Fulani
herdsmen.

The group said that the activities of the
fulani herdsmen in the states have
endangered the lives of the people.
Spokesman of the group, Yinka Odumakin
said that their activities should be
stopped in” every space of Yorubaland
just as he called for those the arrest of
those who abducted a Chieftain of the
group Chief Olu Falae.

Odumakin declared that ” In the event
this call is not yielded then our people
may result to self help to protect
themselves.
The meeting last over six hours and it
was chaired by its National Chairman, Pa
Reuben Fasoranti at his Country home in
Akure.

They group described the attack and
abduction of one of its leaders who was
the former Secretary to the Government
of the Federation SGF, Chief Olu Falae
as an insult on the race.

A Communique read to newsmen by
Odumakin said “We demand that nomadic
cattle rearing should be stopped in every
state of Yoruba land.
“We believe now that after what has
happened to chief Falae, people would not
tolerate such thing in any part of Yoruba
land .

“So while we await the arrest of the
criminals, the cattle rearing should be
stop in Yoruba land.

“Yoruba people go to any part of the
country to trade,no history or record of
such anywhere that the Yorubas destroy
the business of their host. What we
cannot do to others, nobody should do it
to us.

Odumakin said that the meeting” decried
insecurity in the country as relate to the
unrelenting blood letting by the terrorist
Boko Haram and the wave of unchecked
kidnapping going on in the country.

“A special focus was beam on the recent
abduction of one of our revered leader in
Afenifere,Chief Olu Falae, also a former
secretary to the government of the
federation and former presidential
candidates,while on his farm.

“We describe this as scandalous and
chilling that the harrowing experience of
the 77 year old man in the hands of
vandals,miscreants.

“The Meeting did not considers it as a
mere coincidence that chief Olu Falae for
two to three years has been having
running battles with the Fulani herdsmen
on the very farm before he was
abducted.

“Last of such was about two months
earlier when they enter his farmland and
destroyed it and chief Falae pursue the
matter with the police and grudgingly
accepted half of what the police said
they should pay as compensation.

“The fulani elements coming to abduct
him two months latter, is presumably a
vengeance mission for justice that he
pursued against the invasion of his farm
and the destruction of his hand work.
” The meeting recalled that for years,
farmers in Yoruba land has been
expressing what chief Falae was going
through in the hands of this nomadic
cattle rearers

“. You will recalled that in year 2000 in
Oke Ogun area of Oyo state, the fulani
herdsmen and farmers had a major clash
which led to a strong delegation from
Arewa consultative forum to storm the
office of the office of the then
Governor Lam Adesina in a rowdy and
angry manner on behalf of fulani .

meeting in Akure, the Ondo state capital
and called for the stoppage of cattle
rearing activities in the south West
states following the menace of Fulani
herdsmen.

The group said that the activities of the
fulani herdsmen in the states have
endangered the lives of the people.

said that their activities should be
stopped in” every space of Yorubaland
just as he called for those the arrest of
those who abducted a Chieftain of the
group Chief Olu Falae.

this call is not yielded then our people
may result to self help to protect
themselves.
The meeting last over six hours and it
was chaired by its National Chairman, Pa
Reuben Fasoranti at his Country home in
Akure.

They group described the attack and
abduction of one of its leaders who was
the former Secretary to the Government
of the Federation SGF, Chief Olu Falae
as an insult on the race.

A Communique read to newsmen by
Odumakin said “We demand that nomadic
cattle rearing should be stopped in every
state of Yoruba land.
“We believe now that after what has
happened to chief Falae, people would not
tolerate such thing in any part of Yoruba
land .

“So while we await the arrest of the
criminals, the cattle rearing should be
stop in Yoruba land.

“Yoruba people go to any part of the
country to trade,no history or record of
such anywhere that the Yorubas destroy
the business of their host. What we
cannot do to others, nobody should do it
to us.

insecurity in the country as relate to the
unrelenting blood letting by the terrorist
Boko Haram and the wave of unchecked
kidnapping going on in the country.

“A special focus was beam on the recent
abduction of one of our revered leader in
Afenifere,Chief Olu Falae, also a former
secretary to the government of the
federation and former presidential
candidates,while on his farm.

“We describe this as scandalous and
chilling that the harrowing experience of
the 77 year old man in the hands of
vandals,miscreants.

“The Meeting did not considers it as a
mere coincidence that chief Olu Falae for
two to three years has been having
running battles with the Fulani herdsmen
on the very farm before he was
abducted.

“Last of such was about two months
earlier when they enter his farmland and
destroyed it and chief Falae pursue the
matter with the police and grudgingly
accepted half of what the police said
they should pay as compensation.

“The fulani elements coming to abduct
him two months latter, is presumably a
vengeance mission for justice that he
pursued against the invasion of his farm
and the destruction of his hand work.
” The meeting recalled that for years,
farmers in Yoruba land has been
expressing what chief Falae was going
through in the hands of this nomadic
cattle rearers

“. You will recalled that in year 2000 in
Oke Ogun area of Oyo state, the fulani
herdsmen and farmers had a major clash
which led to a strong delegation from
Arewa consultative forum to storm the
office of the office of the then
Governor Lam Adesina in a rowdy and
angry manner on behalf of fulani .

“The meeting also noted that the 2014
national conference in which chief Falae
led the Yoruba delegation ,extensively
discuss this matter of nomadic cattle
rearing and the conference resolved the
