Business › Re: Paid Employment Or Running Self Business by kcjazz(m): 5:40am On Oct 21, 2009
yommyuk:
if everybody becomes their own boss. which people will fill the paid employment sector.
There must be a balance. We all cannot be oga.
This is part of the nigerian problem and mentality
Nobody wants to serve. Everybody wants to be served.
To drive the economy we need people in paid employment as well as owners of business.
So in my own opinion, both feed of each other and are equally important.
It is a matter of personal preference. The CEO of marks and spencer earns millions PA working in a paid employment.
And there are owners of small businesses that earn less than £50k PA working long hours.
I know which one I would prefer cool
The MicroSofts, Mark Spencers, Apple were all small garage businesses at one time. The CEO might be earning millions but have you considered what the founders Mr Micheal Marks & descendant is earning? even if its a public company.

Self employment is not for everyone. Agreed
We can't all be ogas but even as businesses we can't provide every service so the balance is for me to get paid doing my part well and paying others to do there part well. That promotes capitalism.
If anyone has the dream to go in any direction, please do cos I think that is how a great economy is built

Travel › Re: On Making A Megacity Out Of Lagos by kcjazz(m): 5:06pm On Jul 24, 2007
Personally with the way things are right now, any city in Nigeria can achieve a mega city status.

If I control Owerri for instance and create a 24hr power supply with state funds and private initiative, improve road networks and security. No business man wants to lose money. I believe with creative marketing it wont take long for investors to flood the whole state creating jobs and people traffic. Infact people might even need a visa to come to Owerri

This can be done in any city, give me Kebbi State and I will do the exact same thing and make it the richest state in Nigeria!

I personally admire Madam Ngozi Okonjo Iweala and her traditional attires. The international community respects her for her intelligence and hardwork. The same goes for Madam Oby Ezekwesili.

Proud of my Africaness!

Politics › Re: 99% Of Nigerians Are Corrupt And Dubious by kcjazz(m): 6:19am On Jun 26, 2007
99% ! Wow this makes me laugh grin .

It cant be true, agreed there are people who are corrupt and ofcourse there are people like me and so many others who have chosen to live with intergrity.

As a nation our major problem is that so many do not even understand what is right from what is wrong. Hence bad is glorified as good, a case of a common evil becoming an acceptable right.

I think this issue is more of breaking the rules of professionalism. As a trained journalist myself, the mere fact of paying to obtain information is a disservice to the people who depend on me for information.

Agreed there are militias in the niger delta region , there are problems of insecurity and diseases in africa but it is my belief that someday africa will rise from the shackles of such hypocrisy, because even in the usa there are terrible places and situations that needs urgent media attention.

MY POINT Jeff is very wrong and unprofessional , and every country has its own share of problems.
Business › Laundry Business In Nigeria by kcjazz(op): 2:57am On Jun 23, 2007
Hi guys, I am interested in starting a laundry/drycleaning business in Nigeria at a subsidised rate where people come in and drop a coin or two in the machine and just do their cleaning themselves. My goal is to make it visible at every where at every part, save time for people and make some profit, so whats your take on this and at what locations do you think this will really work, thanks
