Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has called for reconciliation amongst Rivers and Nigerian Political Leaders to move the state and country forward. In a personal Christmas Message during an interview with newsmen at the Government House, Port Harcourt on the eve of Christmas, Governor Wike said that unity is needed for enhanced development. The governor noted that all Nigerians should take advantage of the spirit of the season to promote forgiveness, love and peace. He said: "I use this opportunity to plead with those who may not have achieved what they wanted to get, to put aside all interests for the sake of Christmas, let us forgive each other and move the state forward. "Let us move Rivers State forward, let us move Nigeria forward, that is my personal message this Christmas." The governor added: "For all of us who are Christians, this is the period we have to reflect on what Christ means to us. Christ means love and unity. "As a state, we should use this period to reflect and ponder on the need for us to unite ourselves. We should work as a people who are saved by the birth of Jesus Christ. "To Nigeria as a country, we should use this period to work as a country, to put our differences aside and show love amongst ourselves. " Governor Wike informed that the beautification of Port Harcourt ahead of the Christmas is aimed putting the people in the right frame of mind for the celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ. He said: "This is a period we should not continue to antagonise ourselves or destroy ourselves because of selfish interests. "If Christ could be born for the salvation of all, it behoves on all of us to make sacrifices in order to unite the entire country for the interest of every person. Not just because a personal interest is not served, then the country should be destroyed" The governor emphasised that: "Rivers as a Christian State loves to celebrate Christmas in a way that would edify the people. For us, we have to show that Christ is love. Therefore, we have to beautify the streets of Port Harcourt to promote Christ as our Saviour and our Emancipator. "

Minister Godswill Adiks Popularly known as Will Adiks,a Portharcourt Based Gospel Artist has been shot dead by yet to be identified Gunmen. His death was a clear assassination as he was ambushed by gunmen at Emohua ,the Rivers State Axis of the East-West Road while returning back from a Programme in Benin,the Edo State Capital. Will Adiks Lifeless Body at UPTH Mortuary It was gathered that the gunmen had trailed his car,shot him at Close range alongside his two guitarist on the 21st of December Night. He was later rushed to the University Of Portharcourt Teaching Hospital in Choba,where he stayed in Coma for Hours,before giving up the ghost on the evening on 22nd December 2016. His untimely death has sparked series of reaction in the Social Media from his Fans.

A Federal High Court Presided Over by Justice Adolphus Enebeli has ordered the Rivers State House Of Assembly to immediately Inaugurate Hon Victoria Nyeche as the Lawmaker Representing Portharcourt Constituency 1. Justice Enebeli gave the order following a case filed by political activist, Livingstone Wechie who accused Victoria Nyeche of impersonation. Livingstone in his court processes alleged that Victoria Nyeche used a letter headed paper bearing the logo of the Rivers state House of Assembly to write a petition to the Chief Judge of Nigeria against the appointment of the Chief Judge of Rivers state when she is yet to take her oath of office as a member of the state Assembly. Livingstone in his suit says the alleged use of the said letter headed paper by Nyeche amounts to fraud and impersonation by the APC House member. But Justice Adolphus Enebeli in his ruling Today says he lacks powers to restrain the Speaker, Rivers State House of Assembly or anyone else for that matter from swearing in Hon. Victoria Wobo Nyeche as a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly. Stating that having been duly elected and her victory affirmed by the Court of Appeal, any decision from him will amount to sitting on appeal on a case already decided by a Superior Court. Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has vowed never to fund any security agency in Rivers State over their alleged partisan role in the just concluded Rerun on Saturday in Rivers State. He said : "What has happened today will not happen in 2019. Now they have told us , they will see that we will also be prepared . This will not happen again . "I have told the security agencies, you come and collect security money from me and use it against Rivers people . Enough is enough. They will now be depending on NDDC for their funding . Let me see where it will take take them to". The governor added: "Rivers people must work as brothers and sisters and defend our interests. We don't have Police, we don’t army, but we have God. And so, we must put our house in order and be our own police , be our own Army . "We have no confidence in the Army , we have no confidence in the police , we have no confidence in the SSS. They have shown that there is no democracy in Nigeria . " The governor added that politicians like the Minister of Transportation who are not on ground will never win elections in Rivers State . He noted that those who attempted to re-colonise Rivers State by donating monies from their state governments have been shamed by the vigilance of the people . He said: "Wherever they are, shame unto them. Whether they are in Abuja, Plateau , Bauchi, Benue or Kano, shame unto them. Shame to the Governor of Plateau , Shame to the Governor of Governor of Bauchi , Shame to the Governor of Benue. They should bury their heads in shame." Also speaking, Former Rivers State Governor , Sir Celestine Omehia, Former Minister of Transport , Dr Abiye Sekibo , Deputy Governor Ipalibo Harry Banigo and PDP Chieftain , Chief Sergeant Awuse declared that Rivers State will never be a conquered territory . They condemned the military and SARS personnel for using brute force in their plot to rig elections in Rivers State .
