Strategy also plays a role ... 80%of the trips took me to vi ,blew empty back to lere which was 20min (no traffic) less than 5mins in lere I always get a hit .

PoliticsNigeria Moves Up 15 Places To 131 In World Bank Doing Business Ranking For 2020 by kcub(op): 12:38pm On Oct 24, 2019
NIGERIA MOVES UP 15 PLACES TO 131 IN WORLD BANK DOING BUSINESS RANKING FOR 2020
NAMED GLOBAL TOP-10 IMPROVERFOR THE SECOND TIME IN THREE YEARS

Thursday 24th October, 2019 – The World Bank’s 2020 Doing Business Index (DBI) has ranked Nigeria 131 out of 190 countries, up 15 places from 146 position last year. The report, which was released on October 24, 2019 also named Nigeria one of the top 10 most improved economies in the world for the second time in three years. Nigeria is one of only two African countries to make this highly prestigious list. With this year’s leap, Nigeria has improved an aggregate of 39 places in the World Bank Doing Business index since 2016.

The Doing Business Index is an annual ranking that objectively assesses prevailing business climate conditions across 190 countries based on 10 ease of doing business indicators. The index captures ease of doing business reforms that have been validated by the private sector, and offers comparative insights based on private sector validation in the two largest commercial cities in countries with a population higher than 100 million. The report consequently features Lagos and Kano for Nigeria.

While, briefing Mr President on the rankings, the Honourable Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment and Vice Chair of the PEBEC, OtunbaNiyi Adebayo stated that, “The steady improvement in Nigeria’s ease of doing business score and rank is a testament to the reforms implemented by this Administration over the past four years in line with the reform agenda being implemented at national and sub-national levels across the country since the establishment of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) by President MuhammaduBuhari in July, 2016. The PEBEC works towards the fulfillment of the projections of the Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP 2017-2020), which is striving to deliver sustainable economic growth in Nigeria by restoring growth, investing in our people, and building a competitive economy as we work towards delivering Mr President’s mandate of bringing 100 million people out of poverty. The 2020 Doing Business report from the World Bank has reaffirmed the commitment of the newly constituted PEBEC to making Nigeria a progressively easier place to do business and removing the bureaucratic constraints to doing business in the country as we forge ahead in this Next Level.”

The Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council, chaired by His Excellency the Vice President, with 13 honourable ministers as members amongst others, has through the Enabling Business Environment Secretariat collaborated with ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs), the National Assembly, the Judiciary, State governments and the private sector to carry out over 140 reforms so far in a bid to remove bureaucratic constraints to doing business in Nigeria and make the country a progressively easier place to start and grow a business.

The report acknowledges reforms spearheaded by the PEBEC in the areas of operationalising a new electronic platform that integrates the tax authority and the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC). It also acknowledges reforms carried out in some of the World Bank Doing Business indicator areas such as starting a business, registering property, getting construction permits, getting electricity, enforcing contracts, and trading across borders.

“The CAC upgraded its name reservation platform and, in Kano, there is now an electronic platform for registering business premises online, eliminating the need to appear in person. In Lagos, land administration was made more transparent following the digitisation of cadastral plans in a geographic information system; digital copies of cadastral plans are now easily obtainable. Nigeria also made getting electricity easier by allowing certified engineers to conduct inspections for new connections. Initiatives also made commercial litigation of smaller cases more efficient. The Chief Judges in Lagos and Kano issued practice directions for small claims courts introducing pre-trial conferences and limit adjournments. Finally, customs integrated more agencies into its electronic data interchange system, and port authorities launched an e-payment system, speeding up both exports and imports.”

Welcoming the announcement, the Special Adviser to the President on Ease of Doing Business, Dr JumokeOduwole, noted that “the movement of 15 places to 131 as well as the recognition being given to Nigeria as one of the top 10 most improved countries, who have implemented the most reforms this year, is significant because we weren’t even able to achieve some of the key reforms we had pursued, but what we have done so far is being recognised. This validation confirms that our strategy is working and we will continue to push even harder to deliver more impactful reforms.”

“The private sector remains the fulcrum of the ease of doing business interventions. We are committed to more engagement between reform-implementing organs of government and the private sector players and we are happy to see that this has resulted in a more favourable validation of the reforms by the private sector. This result will serve as encouragement to sustain the deepening of these reforms and make it even more tangible for businesses and the citizenry. The PEBEC is focused on delivering even more substantive reforms for the improvement of the general business climate.” she further stated.

Over the past four years, Nigeria’s score has steadily improved in the World Bank Doing Business Report, after years of decline in both score and ranking in the years preceding 2016. It will be recalled that in 2017, Nigeria moved up by an unprecedented 24 places on the Doing Business rankings, and was for the first time ever, recognised as one of the top 10 reformers in the area of doing business that year.

With the impending ratification of the Companies and Allied Matters Bill and the introduction of the Business Facilitation (Omnibus) Bill, 2019 in view, along with other pending and ongoing regulatory, judicial and sub-national reforms, Nigeria is poised to meet its goal of being a top 100 ranked economy by 2020. The announcement indicates that our mandateto move into the top 70 doing business destinations by 2023 remains achievable.

PoliticsOsinbajo Powerful Than Abba Kyari – Tony Momoh by kcub(op): 12:07pm On Sep 24, 2019
Prince Tony Momoh, a former Minister of Information and one of the national leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in an interview with Daily Independent recently, speaks on the alleged plot to remove Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo by a powerful cabal in the Presidency.

As one of the national leaders of the APC, what is your take on the news making rounds of an attempt by some power brokers to remove Vice President Yemi Osinbajo?

The Vice President is busy doing his job and nobody is planning to remove him. How can anybody say they are planning to remove him? What offence has he committed?

There are reports that cabals in the Presidency are behind his travails…

Which cabal? People are just playing politics. As far as I am concerned, there is only one Presidency, not two; the President and the Vice President. Since 1999, there has not been a smooth working relationship between the President and Vice President like we have now between Buhari and Osinbajo. So, what is the proof that they want to remove the Vice President or reduce his powers? Is it because of the Economic Advisory Team set up by the President? What is wrong with that? He did that to smoothen operation and to ensure that we move to the NextLevel. In the struggle to fight corruption, unite the country and to address the country, any decision taken to improve the status or the level of achievements of the programme that the administration has cut for itself, why should that be misinterpreted as an attempt to remove the Vice President or to undermine him? Is the Vice President no longer the Vice- President? Why are people so mischievous? Who are the cabals they are talking about?

President Muhammadu Buhari, Chairman, Board of Trustee Nigerian Media Merit Award, Engr Vincent MadukaRustee and Ag Chairman BOT, Dr Haroun Adamu and Trustee, Past Chairman Award Panel and APC Chieftain, Prince Tony Momoh during an audience with A delegation of Trustees of the Nigeria Media Merit Award (NMMA) for the investiture of President B8hari as the Grand Patron of NMMA held in State House Abuja
President Muhammadu Buhari, Tony Momoh (M) and others
Are you saying there is no cabal in Aso Villa?

What is the name of the cabal? Is there any group called cabal? After the President, we have the Vice President and then all other staff there are personal staff. We have the Chief of Staff, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), the Ministers and Special Advisers. These people are there to help the President who is the only person on whose table the buck stops. If you look at the constitution, every person is working to enhance the work of the President. They do the work assigned to them by the President and there are some offices too that the constitution itself assigns. So, I really don’t know what people mean by the word ‘cabal’. If by cabal, they mean a group of political appointees who are powerful enough to create problems for the advancement of government, that is natural in the management of affairs of men. But the fact is, how much elbow do you give them to operate? When they operate to such an extent that they become a nuisance, then one must call their bluff. So, who is this cabal that people are talking about? Is it the Secretary to the Government of the Federation? Is it the Chief of Staff ? Is it the Permanent Secretaries in the Ministries that constitute themselves as cabals or the Ministers? Are these cabals outsiders in government or is it the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria that is the cabal? Is it the national chairman of the party that is the cabal or members of the National Working Committee? Are they political or financial cabals? Are these cabals faceless? People are just speculating. The Vice President and the President are together. They have never quarreled and there is no cause for them to quarrel. The fact is that at the end of the day, the buck stops on the table of the President.

But what if the rumour about Osinbajo’s removal now comes out to be true?

You think it is easy to remove the Vice- President. During Obasanjo’s time, they tried to remove Atiku, did they succeed? Atiku as Vice President even stood on the platform of another party to contest because the position of the Vice President is a constitutional one. There is a procedure for accepting that position and there is a procedure for removal or for leaving that position. Why are people just giving the impression that the office of the Vice President is like that of a houseboy who can be sent packing anytime?

Abba Kyari, Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari
Abba Kyari, Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari
In the present administration, who do you think is more powerful between Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Abba Kyari, the Chief of Staff?

How can the Chief of Staff be powerful than the Vice President? The Chief of Staff is a personal staff of the President while the office of the Vice President is a constitutional one. Do you see the role of the Chief of Staff in the constitution? He is a personal staff of the President. When the President is going on vacation or indisposed, he writes to the National Assembly handing over to the Vice President, why can’t he handover to his Chief of Staff? The Chief of Staff is a person who moderates the movements of the President. He is the one who schedules the President’s affairs. Everyone who wants to see the President must pass through the Chief of Staff because he is like a gatekeeper to the President. From morning till night, he is at the beck and call of the President and should be the person who is closest to the President. Is that what makes him powerful than the Vice-President? The Vice President also has a Deputy Chief of Staff who serves him. Anybody who wants to see the Vice President must pass through the office of the Deputy Chief of Staff who is the Chief of Staff to the Vice President. Even me as a person, I have my own Chief of Staff. If anyone wants to see me, he goes through my Chief of Staff.

PoliticsIs President Buhari Serious At All? by kcub(op): 10:54am On Sep 19, 2019
Is President Buhari serious at all? undecided

Many people know that President Muhammadu Buhari is incapable of managing the Nigerian economy and when he takes some economic decisions, you must wonder, what is wrong with this man, is he thinking or taking the right advises?

How do you replace the Economic Management Team (EMT) with the Economic Advisory Council (ECA)? This shows that this man lacks the capacity to manage Nigeria.

The EMT is presided over by the Vice President with key stakeholders in attendance EVERY WEEK. The people who sit in the meeting are Minister of Finance, Minister of Budget and National Planning, Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Minister of Agriculture, Minister of Information and Culture, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Special Adviser to the President on Economic Matters, Director-General of the Budget Office, Director-General of the Debt Management Office and Director-General of the National Bureau of Statistics.

These are key stakeholders in the Nigerian government and these are people who understand the problems and can proffer a solution. Plus, the EMT reports to the President.

How do you replace them with a team of eight persons who meet once a month and cannot influence the economy in any way? Remember the ECA is just advisory.

Remember President Olusegun Obasanjo once said, that the role of an adviser is to advise, it is up to him to take it or not.

Buhari just crippled Nigeria’s economy with this. It’s a shame on him.
