He started as a trader after his apprenticeship. That's where he made his billions from.

You can do further private research.
he didn't made billions as a trader but was quite rich. Under Jonathan administration, he was the major oil importer to Nigeria. He owns a tank farm at apapa. He was controlling about half of daily Petroleum consumption to the nation. During Jonathan's re election, he formed the transformation agenda of Nigeria (TAN) which was his campaign movement for Jonathan. His billionaires status was from importation of petroleum. All administration give who they like to lift crude oil and refined in abroad and back to the country. Under Buhari, A A RANO was the major importer of petrol. If not that Tinubu removed subsidy, he will have also appoint his own too. It has been so since 1999. Military government has been the best government till date cos refineries were functional then. After God is government to become super rich. Most billionaires in Nigeria are made of government or front for politicians.
PoliticsRe: Obaseki Inspects 9.6km Owina-upper Owina-evbuotubu Road, Others* by kedeojo(m): 12:05am On Jul 27, 2024
UdabaPrince100:
Obaseki inspects 9.6km Owina-Upper Owina-Evbuotubu Road, others

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has inspected the ongoing 9.6km Agho-Owina-Upper Owina-Evbuotubu Road project in Egor Local Government Area of Edo State.

The governor also inspected the side drainage at Okada avenue and the State Police Command Headquarters Road with large drainage to channel water into the moat.

Addressing journalists during the visit, Obaseki said the project was designed to address the challenges of erosion and flooding in the areas.

He said, “This project is designed to take care of the large population of residents in the Evbuotubu area. This is a new area and it’s densely populated. The citizens here have been suffering from very serious erosion and flooding. I promised that before I leave office, we will undertake a comprehensive design to come up with solutions.

“This is the solution we have come up with to drain all the water to the lowest points in this catchment. Only after dealing with the issue of drainage can we now begin to build the roads.”

According to him, “At some point, some of these roads were built but because of flooding, we lost all of them. As a government, we have done very substantial analysis and design work to make sure we first capture as much of the flooding as possible before we commence re-building all the roads in the area.

“There are two drainage systems - one on the powerline taking water from Adolor and 19th streets into the original water storm master plan to drain water. The water storm projects built about 10 years ago will drain water from that axis and what is left from the Erhunmwunse end will be drained in here and taken out. After that is done, we can now resurface all the roads.

Obaseki added, “We have a date of August 25th 2025 set to complete all the major work here but we are pushing the contractor to ensure they finish before August next year.”

While inspecting the construction work at the State Police Command Headquarters Road, Obaseki said his administration is working hard to modernize the ancient City of Benin.

He noted: “You can see how we have regentrified the State in the last 8 years with infrastructural development like the Secretariat building and other projects. We are creating more infrastructure and security cameras to make people safe.

“There was no drainage when the colonial master laid out the GRA; most of the compounds were large properties as water drains into the large properties. With the build up today, water that should drain into open areas now finds its ways into the roads. This has caused perennial flooding and bad roads across the City.

“We are trying to re-channel water. We are building the drainage now and seeing where the water will empty into. It's a challenge on how to do our drains but now we are re-designing the drainage system across the State. When we finish, we now resurface the roads and put in the necessary road infrastructure like street lights, sidewalks, street cameras and get a feel of a modern city where people can walk freely and feel safe.”

You don't understand how this works or exactly what is happening. Do you?

Let me just give you a clue of what's going on. Government cabals were selling diesel at high price after refusing Dangote refinery our raw material (crude oil). Dangote refinery bought their raw material from outside and crashed the price of diesel, realistically, that's competition (that was a loss on the government oil cabals who saw it as a challenge). So, they started labelling Dangote's petrol as inferior (in the background that is, directly to IPMAN retailers patronising Dangote) thereby discouraging consumers. Dangote responded to them openly by accusations in order to expose them and he was right, we're now getting to know the root cause of our inability to refine oil problems for decades. If Dangote had not ventured into refinery, no one would have known what is and/or was going on for decades in that sector.

Other businesses you mentioned are not in direct competition or conflict of any kind with the government. Got it?
Thank you, everything is hatred to them as long as not their brothers own. You have said it all. Only the reduction in price of international airlines to Nigeria route, almost a whole tribe were attacking the president of not showing support. Who grant him international route, is it not same government under Buhari they hated so much. Air peace crashed their prices to gain the Lagos uk route to get an edge over the likes of British airways but started crying like a child when they further crash the price. I stand to be corrected, almost Igbo businessmen hate competition.

Enough of pampering Dangote by successive govts. Enough please. He has become an entitled spoilt child always running to FG. He is NOT the only industrialist in Nigeria. Enough of pampering Dangote please. See examples.

A) Innoson competes with car importers
B) ProForce competes with imported MRAPS
B) Air Peace competes with foreign airlines
C) Transcorp competes with foreign owned
E) Banks compete with foreign banks
F) FMCG companies compete with importers

Dangote is not the only industrialist in Naija.

Every business should compete. Sometimes, imports might be cheaper for consumers. Dangote cement and sugar are more expensive than imported ones.

Dangote used a BAN on cement and sugar to destroy other Nigerian companies. Ibeto cement and Nigercem were destroyed by Dangote, thousands of jobs lost and cement price skyrocketed. Thanks to OBJ & Buhari.

Also, Dangote's persistent war with BUA is a pointer to the RISKS of granting his wishes.

As Dangote's refinery is home based, he has lots of advantages over importers. He should be able to offer cheaper quality fuel and win the market. Why is he looking for a BAN to destroy other companies that have supplied fuel before his refinery.
So you were deaf when the frontier onyeama was screaming. Did you people not also complain when dangote launch his sino truck brand. Dangote is not complaining like your people of competition but rather a government agency in connive with importers of fuel by lieing about the quality of his fuel. What stop anybody from your region with license not deem it fit to build a refinery. What I see about dangote his is tenacity of doing mega projects. Air peace and innoson was not frustrated by any government agency, rather they were both supported by the president as at time of coming on stream. Air peace shower praises last year on Arise tv on Buhari for enabling him, penetrate the international market. Innoson as is success attributed to Jonathan.

PoliticsRe: Cement: How Dangote Offended Tinubu by kedeojo(m): 2:33pm On Jul 23, 2024
Biodun556:
Dave Umahi convinced Tinubu that concrete road is better than road constructed with bitumen that it last longer and cheaper. Then, a bag of cement was around 3,500 and 4,500.

Tinubu proposed construction of Lagos Calabar coastal highway and passed it in the budget. As soon as the project is about to start, dangote and other cement manufacturers met and increased the price of cement to 10,000 Naira from 4,500 naira. That is more than 100% price hike within few days .

Tinubu summoned dangote to Aso rock and demanded, why the sudden increase in the Price of cement. Dangote could not give any reason, he blamed the price hike on demand. Tinubu made it known that all the cement raw materials are locally sourced and wonder why they increased the price. Then he advised the price be reviewed.

Till now, no significant decrease in the price of cement and the this affects the price of road projects budgeted by the government.

Now, dangote is calling the Tinubu government to stop importation of refined fuel to assist local refineries and Tinubu turned deaf hears.

My take

Nigeria stop importation of rice to assist local rice producers when bag of rice was 10,000 naira. After importation was stopped Nigerian rice producers increased price from 10,000 naira to 30,000 naira per bag, then 50,000, and now 70,000 naira per bag. If you asked them, they will blame high demand.

Definitely if importation of fuel is stopped, local refiners will hold meetings again and start milking Nigerians with habitrary increase in fuel price.

Should dangote even demand for stoppage of importation of refined oil in the first place? After all he is exporting his refined oil and making money.
Fabricated lies. Show us verify fact. Which media did you obtain it from. I understand some of you are still in pains of the realization of the refinery by Dangote. You people said it can't work.

What a great time to be alive and see saboteurs annihilate each other businesses!

A prominent man, hitherto friend to Dangote has a blending plant in Malta. Dangote knew of this, prior to now when that man acquired one of the largest banks in Nigeria. The man is a business friend of Dangote and he's from SW.

Prior to now, they both respect each other businesses and area of interest until the man crossed the line and decided to use ethnic affiliation politics to attack Dangote refinery in Lagos.

He wants a Free market, no doubt but a Free market that would benefit his foreign partners at the detriment of local investors.

He has the Financial strength as the highest shareholder in Nigeria's largest bank and also the experience as a one time Oil marketer. And he knows Dangote is extremely vulnerable because his line of credit has ran out! And if he, Dangote is not fast enough, he, the SW man, would over take Dangote as the wealthiest person in Africa!

With proper deregulation of the Downstream sector, and a well positioned blending plant in Malta and subsidiaries in Asia, his access to cheap products will ensure he has the upper hand!

Dangote wants anyone who wants to sell to Nigerians, must have local refining capacity, just like him!

How far will this battle Royale last? Expect more secrets to fly soon as they leak each other yansh!

Aliko Dangote, chairman of Dangote Industries Limited, has alleged some personnel of Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited, oil traders and terminals have opened a blending plant in Malta.

Dangote spoke at the house of representatives on Monday.

An oil blending plant has no refining capability but can be used to blend re-refined oil (a used motor oil that has been treated to remove dirt, fuel, and water) with additives to create finished lubricant products.

The billionaire said the areas of the blending plants are known.

“Some of the terminals, some of the NNPC people and some traders have opened a blending plant somewhere off Malta,” the chairman said.

“We all know these areas. We know what they are doing.”

Addressing the drop in diesel prices, the billionaire said the diesel produced locally at 650 parts per million (ppm) and 700 ppm is of better quality than imported fuel.

Dangote said many vehicle issues can be traced back to the “substandard” imported fuel.

He urged the leadership of the house of representatives to set up an independent committee to verify the quality of petrol available at filling stations.

“I want you to set up a committee that will come with every representative headed by your chosen honourable member to come and lead in taking samples from filling stations because I must tell you today that all the test certificates that people are busy floating around, where are the labs? Even if they have the labs, I can tell you they are fake certificates,” he said.

“The real one that you now know that they are right is to take from the filling station and also come and take from our production line. Now, you will be able to tell Nigerians that this is it.”

On Monday, the house of representatives joint committee on petroleum resources (downstream and midstream) launched a probe into claims that local refineries, including the Dangote Petroleum Refinery, produce inferior products.

The committee is also investigating the allegations that the international oil companies (IOCs) in Nigeria are frustrating the survival of the Dangote refinery.

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) and Dangote refinery have been embroiled in a dispute that began recently.

On July 18, Farouk Ahmed, the chief executive officer of NMDPRA had said local refineries, including the Dangote refinery, were producing inferior products compared to the ones imported into the country.

The oil regulator also accused Dangote of monopoly, claims which have been denied by the billionaire.

On Monday, Heineken Lokpobiri, minister of state petroleum resources (oil), intervened in the ‘ongoing issues’ after having a meeting with Aliko Dangote, chairman and chief executive officer (CEO) of Dangote Group and Farouk Ahmed, CEO of Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA).

Gbenga Komolafe, CEO of the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC), and Mele Kyari, group CEO of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited were also at the meeting.

How much is Alex Otti paying civil servants.

Face your south East. We Edolites vote on merit and not emotions

Nonsense talk
Don't mind them. A senator just decamped from ellupee to Apc now. Abia is still paying 20k as minimum wage for state workers and 18k for local government. We Edo we don't play nzogbu nzogbu politics. We know what is right at any particular time.

My good people of Edo state. In all you do, never vote any candidate coming under the platform of the APC.

It will end in premium tears.
Shut up your mouth, the one we have now, what he is. Majority edolite will vote senator Okpeboho. Be consign how your state can move forward. Obaseki is one of the worst governors in Nigeria today.
