AlBaqir: WHY SOME SCIENTISTS DO NOT BELIEVE IN GOD?
A survey was published in ‘Nature’ in 1998 entitled ‘Leading Scientists Still Reject God’.
That survey revealed that of the ‘elite’ biologists of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States, approximately 95 percent were men or women who did not believe in a personal God!

Why would this be?

There are many factors involved. I shall in this brief mention only two out of many:

1)God is not observed in my lab!
Popular scientific dogma holds that if something can’t be proven scientifically, i.e.; by observation and experimentation, it really doesn’t exist.

2) god of Christianity does not exist.
In many instances when a western scientist rejects the existence of God, as a matter of fact, he or she is rejecting the Christian concept of god in terms of resurrection of Jesus and being son of god or god and things like that which is of course nothing more than a myth, and has nothing to do with the true concept of a unique God who is the Creator of all including prophet Jesus.

Hence, according to Christians all Jewish people and Muslims are atheists for they do not believe in Jesus as God!

This write up at this point appears offensive and poses a direct affront to the Christian faith. Even your use of "god"to describe the God the Christians worship appears mischievous under the guise of quoting the so called scientific claims.
The truth is that the carnal mind cannot understand the things of God because they are spiritually discerned.
Christianity is revelation of God to man unlike many religions where man seek ways to access God. The skeptics would find it difficult to comprehend God's revelation because they already have a mind set.

Countless people through the ages have encountered God through our Lord Jesus Christ and never remained the same as they were greatly transformed and obtained eternal life.
God can be sought and experienced by faith and not by humanistic psychology or philosophy. The Christian faith is a Living faith.
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Begotten son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting Life-John 3:16.
Those who are weary and troubled can come to Jesus and find rest, peace and eternal bliss....

The idea of Frosbel is great fallacy
I really wonder what frosbel intends to achieve from this thread that poses such an affront to the inerrant and infallible inspired holy Bible.
Many errors people allude to the bible have simple answers which may not be available to those making such claims. Some of the alleged errors are results of taking the Bible out of context, or being disconnected from the events in the bible days or even the Jewish customs and tradition.
Many times it comes from a carnal mind that cannot comprehend the things which are spiritually discerned.
1Peter 1:20,21 states clearly that: “No prophecy of the Bible is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: But holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.”
Just to answer some of the alleged errors as claimed by Frosbel:
Answers
1) The issue of the fig tree account in (Matthew 21:18-20) and Mark 11:12-14; 20-21 have no contradictions but are complementary accounts. The common point is that at the command of Christ the fig tree withered but the account of Mark indicates the actual timing the disciples observed the withered tree. That is not to say that it took 24hrs to wither
2) Frosbel is again wrong here as the quotation in (Mk. 1:2,3) is truly from Isaiah 40:3 even though mark did not mention Isaiah directly as Frosbel claims
3) Matthew 27:3-10
There is a close resemblance between Matt 27:9-10 and Zech 11:12-13. But there are also similarities between Matthew's words and the ideas in Jer 19:1,4,6,11. Why then did Matthew refer only to Jeremiah? The solution to this problem is probably that Matthew had both prophets in mind but only mentioned the "major" prophet by name.
Another explanation is that Jeremiah, in the Babylonian Talmud (Baba Bathra 14 b), was placed first among the prophets, and his book represented all the other prophetic books.
4) The account in 1cor. 10:8 indicates the number that died in one day while Numbers give the total number that could span over a day
5) The account of David’s Census in 2Samuel on first Chronicles should not be a problem as Old testament writing many times present what God allows or permits as though he did it. This therefore implies that God permitted Satan to tempt David due to His anger already kindled against Isreal as indicated in 2Samuel 24:1
6) The mustard seed Our Lord Jesus referred to in Matt 13:31,32 was used in relative terms of comparison to seed available within the context and given time. It should not be taken out of context
7) Again we see that the account of Matt 27:5 and Act1:18 on the death of Judas Iscariot are not contradictory but complementary. Acts 1:1 8 gives us in figurative form the consequences of all his actions including hanging himself.

We must be careful not to "formularize" the concept of hearing from God or turn it to a rocket science.
It is possible to begin to enjoy the voice of God as real as we breath the air.

There must first be a relationship or at least basis of relationship for any communication to take place as two cannot work together except they agree (Amos 3 : 3).

This relationship commences at the point of repentance, believing and acceptance of Christ as Lord and Saviour (Acts 2 : 38, 16:31). This would lead to true salvation evidenced by life transformation that positions us as sons and daughters of God (John 1:12).

God thus becomes a father to us in that unmerited and unfathomable relationship (1John 3:1). By this we can grow to the point where hearing the voice of God is as natural as our breathing.

One of the primary ways is through the study of his word which comes alive to a quickened spirit.

There may be no hard or fast rule as every child should recognize the voice of his father.

God is ready to communicate with sincere seekers but the problem is always on our part due to our numerous and boisterous activities that hardly allow people settle down or patiently wait to listen as true sheep would (John 10:27,28).

Another point is that God would not commit himself to people who have their idols in their hearts or self conceited (Ezekiel 14:3) . He delights in those who are sincere (John 4:24 ; Jeremiah 29 :13 ).

I would never subscribe to violence or impunity in the church. But the truth is that this fellow could have sought redress from higher church authority rather than going for the police in a family(church) affairs.

I am not a member of Winners Chapel, but it seems we are full of kill and go choir in Naira land who enjoy cheap criticism.
Some of the security men in churches are even hired. Therefore going to authorities to report such thing raises doubt if such a person knows why is in church. 1Cor. 6:1-6 says it all.

the problem is that we often want to go our own way and justify ourselves with flimsy reasons for such act.

Irrespective of the numerous hypocrites in church today, the truth remains that the one who defiles the bed or engages in conjugal relationship outside marriage is simply mortgaging and shortchanging his life. More terrible is that such will not escape God's judgement except he/she repents (Eph.5:1-6).

Let us not allow the pranks of some hypocrites in church serve as excuse to act in folly. Here is the conclusion of the whole matter:
Fear God and obey Him as all actions will be judged. Its just a matter of time (Ecc 12:13,14).

The discussion in any international media adds no value to any one. Though the situation of our Nation is precarious and painful.
