Evidence that You Have Received the Kingdom

Mk. 16:17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues;
Mk. 16:18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.”

1Jn. 3:21 Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God
1Jn. 3:22 and receive from him anything we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him.
1Jn. 3:23 And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.
1Jn. 3:24 Those who obey his commands live in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us.

Jesus is our Example

1Pe. 2:21 To this you were called, because Christ suffered for you, leaving you an example, that you should follow in his steps.
1Pe. 2:22 “He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.”

He. 12:2 Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

In order to receive the kingdom of God as Jesus did, you must fix your eyes on Jesus, as your model. The joy that was set before Jesus is the kingdom of God; the very same joy is set before us today. We must follow the footsteps of Jesus in order to enter the kingdom of God. Jesus endured the cross; for us, it means that we must turn our back to worldly achievements. The requirements for the kingdom of God go against the requirements for worldly greatness. The kingdom requirements are a cross that we must bear; they crucify us to the world.

Ac. 10:37 You know what has happened throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached —

Jesus entered the kingdom of God through the baptism that John preached. We must enter the kingdom of God through the baptism that Jesus preached.

Mt. 28:19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in [Or into] the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
Mt. 28:20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Jesus preached baptism into three names, which means three baptisms. The first baptism is into the name of the Father. What is the name of the Father?

Jn. 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Baptism into the name of the Father means to be immersed in the Word. It is not just filling one’s mind with the Word, but also one’s life becoming a fulfillment of the Word.

Baptism into the name of Jesus Christ is done through water baptism. Baptism in the Holy Spirit is the same thing as receiving the kingdom of God. It requires continual prayer. There are measures of the Holy Spirit. Through continual prayer and continual effort to always please God by our deeds, we grow in the measure of the Holy Spirit in us.

Seek First the Kingdom of God

Je. 29:13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

Mt. 13:44 “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.
Mt. 13:45 “Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls.
Mt. 13:46 When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it.

In order to obtain the kingdom of God as Jesus Christ did, you must make pursuing the kingdom of God your number one priority. You must pursue the kingdom of God as the only thing you need in life. If you obtain the kingdom of God like Jesus did, you become one of the greatest people in the world. You have to give up a lot of worldly pursuits in order to obtain the kingdom of God.

What is the kingdom of God?

The kingdom of God is the presence or manifestation of God in a person. It is the manifestation of God’s presence through His Spirit and His power. The body of God is stationed in heaven, but He can manifest Himself in any of the beings He created by His Holy Spirit.

Mt. 12:28 But if I drive out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

Ac. 10:37 You know what has happened throughout Judea, beginning in Galilee after the baptism that John preached —
Ac. 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.

The kingdom of God was in Jesus Christ. God anointed his inner being with His Holy Spirit and His divine power. This imparted some level of divinity into Jesus.

Jn. 14:8 Philip said, “Lord, show us the Father and that will be enough for us.”
Jn. 14:9 Jesus answered: “Don’t you know me, Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father. How can you say, `Show us the Father’?
Jn. 14:10 Don’t you believe that I am in the Father, and that the Father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the Father, living in me, who is doing his work.
Jn. 14:11 Believe me when I say that I am in the Father and the Father is in me; or at least believe on the evidence of the miracles themselves.
Jn. 14:12 I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

Philip asked that Jesus show his apostles the Father, because Jesus had said to them that the Father was always with him (Jn. 8:29). But the Father’s presence with Jesus was not in His bodily form, but rather by His Holy Spirit. All that Jesus could say to Philip was that anyone who has seen him has seen the Father. Everything that Jesus did, even the words he spoke, were actually done through the Spirit of God in him. Therefore, Jesus became a manifestation of the Father. It is just like telling an electrical engineer, “Show us electrons, then we will believe in all these your theories of electricity.” Then the electrical engineer says, “If you see a computer working, you have seen electrons.” Then you run around proclaiming that computers are the same thing with electrons.

Jesus went on to tell Philip and the other apostles listening that God will also manifest Himself in people that would believe in him, so much that they will be able to do even greater work than he himself did. How does a believer in Christ get there?

Lk. 10:38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way, he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him.
Lk. 10:39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said.
Lk. 10:40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”
Lk. 10:41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things,
Lk. 10:42 but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

There are so many things to worry about in this world, so many things that could upset the peace of mind of a human being. Even people that are supposedly well-off have things to worry about. People are worried about their wealth, health, family, societal standing, etc. In order to address these worries and upsets, we pursue all kinds of goals, just like all the preparations that occupied Martha in the passage of Scripture quoted above.

There are so many goals being pursued by human beings in the world, but Jesus says that only one goal is really necessary. What is this goal?

Mt. 6:31 So do not worry, saying, `What shall we eat?’ or `What shall we drink?’ or `What shall we wear?’
Mt. 6:32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.
Mt. 6:33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

The only one goal that really matters is to possess the kingdom of God.

Christianity EtcWhy Is The Eternal Gospel Of The End Time So Different From The Gospel Of Today? by Kei144(op): 2:46pm On Feb 07, 2016
Re. 14:6 Then I saw another angel flying in mid-air, and he had the eternal gospel to proclaim to those who live on the earth — to every nation, tribe, language and people.
Re. 14:7 He said in a loud voice, “Fear God and give him glory, because the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made the heavens, the earth, the sea and the springs of water.”

Job 1:8 Then the LORD said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no-one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil.”
Job 1:9 “Does Job fear God for nothing?” Satan replied.

Ec. 12:13 Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.
Ec. 12:14 For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.

"Fear God" is all about obeying God's commandments and keeping His Law. It is not about "faith and not works". It is not about receiving Jesus into your heart, but about doing the will of God.

Mt. 24:14 And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.

The gospel of the kingdom that Jesus talks about in Mt. 24:14 is obviously the eternal gospel of Re. 14:6. Today's gospel is just a temporary thing, which Jesus will make sure is thrown away before the end of the age.
Christianity EtcDon't 'drop Gossip Bomb,' Pope Francis Warns Priests And Nuns by Kei144(op): 6:37pm On Feb 02, 2016

Pope Francis compared those spreading gossip to terrorists, since they can send a community into chaos.

Pope Francis warns gossip-lover priests and nuns not to fuel the "terrorism of gossip"
He also urged clergy members breaking their vows of obedience, poverty and chastity to fall in line

Pope Francis has warned gossip-loving priests and nuns not to fuel the "terrorism of gossip," encouraging them to resist the temptation to spread voices and tales within their community.

"If you get an urge to say something against a brother or a sister, to drop a gossip bomb, bite your tongue! Hard!" he said on Monday in Vatican City.

In an impromptu speech to members of the clergy, which comes at the end of the Year of Consecrated Life, the pontiff compared those spreading gossip to terrorists, since they can send a community into chaos.

The Pope urged clergy members breaking their vows of obedience, poverty and chastity to fall into line. The dialogue is welcome, he said, but after the dialogue comes obedience, adding that "anarchy is the daughter of the devil, not of God."

Francis also lamented the decline in the number of vocations and people opting for a religious life.

"Why is the womb of consecrated live becoming so sterile?" he asked, cautioning against shortcuts or easy solutions.

"Some congregations experiment with 'artificial insemination.' What do they do? They welcome... 'Yes come, come, come'. And then there are problems," he said. "No. We must be serious about who we take. We must clearly distinguish if it is a real vocation, and help it to grow."

The Roman Catholic Church is still facing the consequences of sex abuse scandals, which shocked many believers, in particular in Western Europe and North America and among millennials.

The Church has 400,000 priests around the world, according to the Vatican. Agence France-Press says there are 693,000 nuns.

Obasanjo hails Nigerian genius, Osita Onuma of Univ of London

PRESIDENT Olusegun Obasanjo has congratulated Mr. Osita Onuma, a Nigerian who recorded the best academic result at the Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, University of London.

Following Onuma's feat which is said to be unprecedented in the history of the 124-year-old institution, the President has directed Nigeria's High
Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Prince Bola Ajibola, to attend the University's convocation on May 6, where Onuma would deliver a valedictory address as the best student.

The Nigerian, a post-graduate student, scored 98.85 on a scale of 100 points. He was also said to have scored 4.96 out of 5 points, during his undergraduate programme at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

In his April 22 letter to Onuma, the President asked him to call personally on him in Abuja whenever he (Onuma) returned home, for a personal congratulation.

According to Obasanjo, Onuma's performance has proven that quality would always triumph despite odds that seemed insurmountable.

He added that Onuma was a role model whose achievements would certainly inspire all Nigerians to success in their different endeavours.

Christianity EtcWhat Did Christ Teach Was More Important- Faith Or Works Or Both? by Kei144(op): 5:48pm On Jan 31, 2016
Mt. 5:17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.
Mt. 5:18 I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished.
Mt. 5:19 Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practises and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven."

Jesus never established any religion that is different from the religion of the Old Testament. All he did was to show the OT the way God sees it. Or rather, God revealed through Jesus the real meaning of some things in the OT. Through Jesus we learn that the OT commandments are in three categories. The highest category deals with loving the Lord your God. The second category deals with loving your neighbor. The lowest category is loving yourself. Hence, keeping the Sabbath holy is about loving yourself; giving your body some rest in order to avoid breakdown. In a situation where there is conflict between loving God, your neighbor or yourself, loving God must have priority, followed by loving your neighbor. Jesus found himself in such a conflicting situation when he delivered a person from infirmity on a Sabbath day. The Jews opposed him because they did not know that the commandments of God are all about prioritized categories of love.

Another revelation that God gave through Jesus Christ about the OT is the need to rely on the power of God. This is where faith comes in. You cannot see God, neither can you see His power. In order to key in to the power of God, you must come to believe in the invisible God and in the reality of His power and that this power is available to you. Faith is not about having some facts in your head; it is more about acquisition of experience. If you encounter God, you will know that He is real. If you experience His power at work, you immediately develop faith in the power of God.

The only purpose of faith is to enable much work. Faith is all about keying in to the power of God. And the only reason for keying in to power is to do much work. That is why faith without work is useless. Work without faith achieves very little; without faith a person cannot key in to the power of God and so works with human power, which is not much.
Christianity EtcRe: Resurrection Of The People Of God by Kei144(op): 4:27am On Jan 25, 2016
Ro. 10:8 But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” [Deut. 30:14] that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming:
Ro. 10:9 That if you confess with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Ro. 10:10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.
Ro. 10:11 As the Scripture says, “Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.” [Isaiah 28:16]

Mt. 22:29 Jesus replied, “You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.

Ph. 2:12 Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed — not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence — continue to work out your salvation with fear and
trembling,
Ph. 2:13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.

We need to know the word of God and we need to know about the power of God. It is only when the power of God works in a person that the person is able to will and to act according to God's word. That is what grace is all about: the power of God working in you and enabling you to work out your salvation. Unfortunately, the understanding in many churches today is that the Christian doesn't earn his/her salvation by her/his works, but rather only by his/her belief.

It is just like an African tilling the ground manually. Such an African will not be able to grow much food, even though he makes so much effort. Then, you give the African machine power. Should he now quit his farming and believe that the machine power is doing the farming for him? No! The African still has to do his farming work; the machine power greatly reduces the human effort that he needs to put in and at the same time greatly increases his productivity.

God has given us His divine power through Jesus Christ. We operate that power by having His word in our hearts and speaking forth the word. That was the technique Joshua used to cross the Israelites into the Promised Land. That was the principle God tried to teach Moses when He told Moses to speak to the rock.
Christianity EtcRe: Resurrection Of The People Of God by Kei144(op): 4:25am On Jan 25, 2016
De. 8:2 Remember how the LORD your God led you all the way in the desert these forty years, to humble you and to test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands.
De. 8:3 He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your fathers had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD.

Mt. 4:4 Jesus answered, “It is written: `Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’“ [Deut. 8:3]

Jn. 6:63 The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to you are spirit [Or Spirit] and they are life.

Jn. 1:4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men.

How does one live or feed on the word of God? The word of God is (eternal) life. Adam and Eve lost eternal life when they dumped the word of God and rather fed on the word of Satan. I read people here on glp talk about longevity enzyme; it doesn't exist. Longevity only comes by feeding on God's word.

Jn. 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, [Or the Only Begotten] who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

1Jn. 1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked at and our hands have touched — this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.
1Jn. 1:2 The life appeared; we have seen it and testify to it, and we proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and has appeared to us.

Jn. 6:53 Jesus said to them, “I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you.

When God spoke through a man, His word became flesh. Not only did the man speak the word, he also fulfilled the word. And he said that unless you also speak the word of God and become a fulfillment of the word, you have no life in you; because eternal life is in the word.
Christianity EtcRe: Resurrection Of The People Of God by Kei144(op): 4:23am On Jan 25, 2016
Nu. 13:27 They gave Moses this account: “We went into the land to which you sent us, and it does flow with milk and honey! Here is its fruit.
Nu. 13:28 But the people who live there are powerful, and the cities are fortified and very large. We even saw descendants of Anak there.
Nu. 13:29 The Amalekites live in the Negev; the Hittites, Jebusites and Amorites live in the hill country; and the Canaanites live near the sea and along the Jordan.”
Nu. 13:30 Then Caleb silenced the people before Moses and said, “We should go up and take possession of the land, for we can certainly do it.”
Nu. 13:31 But the men who had gone up with him said, “We can’t attack those people; they are stronger than we are.”
Nu. 13:32 And they spread among the Israelites a bad report about the land they had explored. They said, “The land we explored devours those living in it. All the people we saw there are of great size.
Nu. 13:33 We saw the Nephilim there (the descendants of Anak come from the Nephilim). We seemed like grasshoppers in our own eyes, and we looked the same to them.”

God led Moses to send spies to the land they were going to possess. It was just a test on the people of Israel to see if they believe God's word that He will give them the Promised Land. Most of the people who explored the land did not believe that God was able to give them the land. God therefore turned them back towards Egypt and they stayed in the desert for 40 years.

Nu. 20:7 The LORD said to Moses,
Nu. 20:8 “Take the staff, and you and your brother Aaron gather the assembly together. Speak to that rock before their eyes and it will pour out its water. You will bring water out of the rock for the community so that they and their livestock can drink.”
Nu. 20:9 So Moses took the staff from the LORD’s presence, just as he commanded him.
Nu. 20:10 He and Aaron gathered the assembly together in front of the rock and Moses said to them, “Listen, you rebels, must we bring you water out of this rock?”
Nu. 20:11 Then Moses raised his arm and struck the rock twice with his staff. Water gushed out, and the community and their livestock drank.
Nu. 20:12 But the LORD said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them.”

Go told Moses to speak to the rock. Moses was used to doing miracles with his staff; he wasn't used to doing miracle by speaking words. Moses obviously doubted if speaking words could cause miracle and so used his staff. By so doing, he rejected the word of God. God promptly disqualified him from entering the Promised Land.

Jo. 1:6 “Be strong and courageous, because you will lead these people to inherit the land I swore to their forefathers to give them.
Jo. 1:7 Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the law my servant Moses gave you; do not turn from it to the right or to the left, that you may be successful wherever you go.
Jo. 1:8 Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.
Jo. 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.”
Jo. 1:10 So Joshua ordered the officers of the people:
Jo. 1:11 “Go through the camp and tell the people, `Get your supplies ready. Three days from now you will cross the Jordan here to go in and take possession of the land the LORD your God is giving you for your own.’“

God gave His word to Joshua. Joshua immediately ordered the officers of the people to go through the camp and tell the people that they would enter the Promised Land in three days time. How did Joshua learn such great faith. he believed God's word and galvanized the people to accept God's word as reality. Within a short time, they crossed into the Promised Land.
Christianity EtcRe: Resurrection Of The People Of God by Kei144(op): 4:22am On Jan 25, 2016
Jn. 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the One and Only, [Or the Only Begotten] who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Most Christians see Jn. 1:14 as evidence that the Word (God) materialized as Jesus. But that is not what the verse is saying. The verse is simply saying that God manifested His presence through a man (flesh). He therefore spoke through that man. If you have seen deliverance sessions, you see evil spirits speaking through human beings. Is it then so wonderful that God could speak through a man? The big question though is, how does a man qualify to host the manifestation of God?

How did the nation of Israel qualify to host the manifestations of God? It all started with Abraham believing God's word. Abraham had two sons through two different women. The idolatrous background of Ishmael's mother promptly disqualified him from hosting the manifestations of God. God therefore removed Ishmael far from Abraham, so that Abraham had only Isaac to transfer his relationship with God to. Isaac had two sons. Esau cared less about his divine heritage and so could not relate well with the word of God. Jacob, who later became Israel, apparently cared more about his divine heritage. You can also see that mother plays very vital role. Jacob was closer to the mother, from whom he must have learned the ways of God. Thus, you can see that God's rejection of Ishmael has a lot to do with the fact that the mother knew nothing about the way of God.

Ex. 33:1 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Leave this place, you and the people you brought up out of Egypt, and go up to the land I promised on oath to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, saying, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’
Ex. 33:2 I will send an angel before you and drive out the Canaanites, Amorites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites.
Ex. 33:3 Go up to the land flowing with milk and honey. But I will not go with you, because you are a stiff-necked people and I might destroy you on the way.”

The whole purpose of the Promised Land was the establishment of permanent presence of God. God did not allow the Israelites to enter that land until they learned to accept His word.
PoliticsQuestions Raised Over Nigeria's Anti-corruption Drive by Kei144(op): 9:41pm On Jan 22, 2016

Abuja (AFP) - Several high-profile Nigerians are facing charges as part of a drive against corruption but there are concerns the government is settling old political scores and flouting due process.

President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed to recoup what he said were "mind-boggling" sums of public money stolen under previous administrations to fulfil a campaign pledge to end graft.

This week, the government claimed just 55 people stole more than $6 billion between 2006 and 2013, leaving Nigeria in the lurch as its economy struggles due to the global oil price slump.

But it is former national security advisor Sambo Dasuki who has become the key figure in the anti-corruption campaign.

The former army colonel is accused of looting billions of dollars that were aimed at buying weapons and equipment for troops fighting Boko Haram Islamists.

Cash is alleged to have been diverted instead to members of former president Goodluck Jonathan's Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to fund his failed re-election campaign.

Dasuki was granted bail last month but has been kept in custody without access to his legal counsel as he awaits the start of three trials, his lawyer Joseph Daudu told a court in Abuja on Wednesday.

Dauda said the detention was a "brazen affront" to the judiciary and the judge agreed.

"I don't see how I can be conducting a criminal trial without the presence of the accused person," said judge Adeniyi Ademola. "You can set a dangerous precedent as it is."

- Old habits? -

Dauda later claimed Buhari was reverting to his old autocratic habits from his days as military ruler in the 1980s.

"He (Buhari) emphasised he was a changed man, open to democratic principals. But interfering with the court system, trying to find your own rule of law, is not good," he told AFP at his office.

"It makes the outcome suspect."

Prosecutor Oladipo Okpeseyi, however, denied any impropriety. "The federal government has obeyed every order made in respect of this case. We are not acting illegally in any way whatsoever," he said.

But Buhari's own comments about Dasuki and two other cases involving the pro-Biafra activist Nnamdi Kanu and the Shiite Muslim leader Ibrahim Zakzaky have rung alarm bells.

He told reporters in December the men should be kept in custody because they had committed "atrocities" against the government -- despite none of them having been tried and convicted.

Kanu was arrested in October. He was granted bail in December but remains in secret police custody, pending a trial on "treasonable felony" charges.

Zakzaky was detained after a military raid on the headquarters of his Islamic Movement of Nigeria that it is claimed left hundreds dead. It is not clear whether he has been charged with any offence.

- 'Nothing to fear'? -

Buhari was voted into power in 2015 after vowing to stamp out corruption and usher in a new democratic era free from bitter partisanship.

He won over sceptics by preaching forgiveness and pledged an impartial war on graft in the interest of political harmony.

"President Jonathan has nothing to fear from me," Buhari said in his acceptance speech last April. "Let's put the past behind us, especially the recent past."

But with the prosecution of Dasuki — a powerful member of Jonathan's administration -- the former head of state could yet be dragged into the case.

"The national security advisor will normally carry out the instructions of his president," Dasuki's other lawyer Ahmed Raji told AFP.

"You cannot talk about this matter without talking about President Jonathan."

- Witch-hunt? -

Buhari's anti-corruption zeal has been widely praised and seen as much-needed but political analyst Chris Ngwodo said "it just has to be conducted in the right way".

"Corruption will be beaten by straightening institutions, not by disregarding them," he added.

Nigeria's Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is casting an ever-widening net to bag corrupt officials in Africa's most populous nation and leading economy.

But few charged with siphoning public funds have had their day in court and with most accused or subject to investigations being PDP members, the party has accused Buhari of conducting a witch-hunt.

Prominent PDP supporter and media magnate Raymond Dokpesi has been charged in the Dasuki case along with the party's spokesman Olisa Metuh. who appeared in court recently in handcuffs.

That so many PDP figures have been arrested risks stoking tensions in a country where partisan loyalty frequently erupts into deadly violence.

"Securing actual convictions of these people, that is the real litmus test of the anti-corruption campaign," Ngwodo said.

Car TalkHere Are 8 Engines You Should Avoid by Kei144(op): 6:04pm On Jan 20, 2016
There are at least eight mass-produced engines in vehicles on the market today that have caused owners a lot of anguish.

Audi/VW 1.8T Four Cylinder Turbo

The 1.8 L turbo four cylinder from Volkswagen was found in almost everything the carmaker sold at one time, plus some models of Audi, including the A4 and TT coupe.

Unfortunately, the engine is a rolling disaster with sludge formation being a real threat.

Apparently, Audi/VW may not have informed owners that the engine required synthetic oil, so owners (and dealers) proceeded to use conventional oil after the break-in period. The usual coke/sludge issues appeared and engines failed in considerable numbers. Models from 1997 to 2004 are affected – essentially any car wearing the 1.8T badge.

Add to this high oil consumption and frequent coil pack failures – one coil pack sits atop each cylinder and serves as the ignition coil firing the spark plug – and you’ve got one troublesome motor.

Way to go, German engineering.

Toyota 3.0 L V6

Toyota’s 3.0 L V-6 is prone to clotting with oil sludge and seizing up in 1997-2002 models with this engine, although Toyota is apt to blame owners for not changing the oil often enough or for using the wrong oil.

Many experts disagree, suggesting a defect in the breathing or circulation system is the likely culprit.

The affected models include V6 models of the 1997-2002 Toyota Camry, Avalon, Sienna, Highlander and Solara. The Lexus ES300 and RX300 used the same ill-fated 3.0 L V6. After 2002, Toyota made some improvements that appeared to solve the problem.

Toyota settled a class-action lawsuit in 2007 that covered an estimated 2.5 million Toyota and Lexus models made between 1997 and 2002 susceptible to engine sludge. The automaker agreed to repair sludged engines for up to eight years after leaving the factory.

Christianity EtcRe: Resurrection Of The People Of God by Kei144(op): 2:52am On Jan 20, 2016
What does it mean to believe the word of God? To believe the word of God means to accept or receive it.

Jn. 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Jn. 1:2 He was with God in the beginning.
Jn. 1:3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.
Jn. 1:4 In him was life, and that life was the light of men.

The general understanding among Christians these days is that the Word in John 1 is Jesus. This kind of understanding, and the doctrines built around it, look so elegant; but the problem with them is that they hinder the resurrection of God's people. The Word in John 1 is simply the spoken word or will of God.

Jn. 1:5 The light shines in the darkness, but the darkness has not understood it.
Jn. 1:9 The true light that gives light to every man was coming into the world.
Jn. 1:10 He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him.
Jn. 1:11 He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him.
Jn. 1:12 Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God —

John 1 changes from the Word to the light in verse 5. Is the Word the same with the light? Most Christians will answer that they are the same and that Jesus is them. But in reality, the light is the Holy Spirit of God (Re. 4:5). God speaks His word through His Holy Spirit. The Spirit is like wave (light) and God speaks by modulating the wave. So, the Word and the light (Spirit) actually go together. KJV of Jn. 1:12 says that as many as received him (the Word, the Spirit), to them gave he power to become sons of God.

What does it mean to become a son of God? A son of God is characterized by the divine (holy) nature and immortality. So, accepting or receiving the word of God gives a person power to be holy and to never die. However, the Word being referred to in John 1 is specifically the word that God spoke through Jesus Christ. That is what the resurrection of the people of God is all about.
Christianity EtcRe: Resurrection Of The People Of God by Kei144(op): 2:50am On Jan 20, 2016
Jn. 11:25-26 contains the principle of resurrection of the people of God. All it takes is believing--faith. And that is all that the churches talk about today. But, believe in what? And the churches tell you, Jesus! What do we believe about Jesus?

Jesus is God.
Jesus is messiah.
Jesus is the Son of God.
Jesus is Lord and personal Savior.
etc.

He. 1:1 In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways,
He. 1:2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe.

The only thing that really matters is the word that God has spoken to us through Jesus Christ. When you hear Jesus say, "Believe in me," it is God speaking. And He is simply saying, "Believe my word." So, in Jn. 11:26, Jesus says that what it takes for a child of God to never experience death is to always believe the word of God.
Christianity EtcRe: Resurrection Of The People Of God by Kei144(op): 7:41pm On Jan 19, 2016
Anyone who reads my first post will easily conclude that I doubt Jesus' word. Actually, I am a strong believer in the words of Jesus. What I want to bring up here is Christians' understanding of the words of Jesus. In order to understand the words of Jesus, and most of what the New Testament says about Jesus, one needs to understand that God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him (Col. 1:19). This means that some words that Jesus spoke were God directly speaking through him(Jn. 14:10).

Mary believed in Jesus the same way that Christians believe in Jesus today. Mary believed that Jesus is the messiah, the Son of God. Today's Christians believe that Jesus is Lord, messiah and Son of God. In the case of Mary, she even expressed her belief directly to Jesus, yet his promise that whoever that is alive and believes in Jesus will never die could not apply to Mary. Today, Christians claim that they believe in Jesus, or have received Jesus into their hearts, and so are saved. Like in the case of Mary, the promise of Jesus in Jn. 11:26 has not been manifesting in Christians. This then raises the question of whether the salvation that these Christians claim is real.
Christianity EtcResurrection Of The People Of God by Kei144(op): 6:34pm On Jan 17, 2016
1Co. 15:21 For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man.

Death came to mankind through a man, Adam. Resurrection of the dead came through Jesus Christ.

Jn. 11:25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies;
Jn. 11:26 and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?”
Jn. 11:27 “Yes, Lord,” she told him, “I believe that you are the Christ, [Or Messiah] the Son of God, who was to come into the world.”

Resurrection of the people of God is a matter of believing in Jesus. Jesus said that whoever lives and believe in him will never die. There and then, Mary declared to him that she believed that he is the messiah. But Mary did die. Why did Mary have to die?
CrimeThe 50 Most Violent Cities In The World by Kei144(op): 2:49pm On Jan 17, 2016
Murder is more common in Latin America than in any other part of the world.

That's the most striking takeaway from a ranking of the most violent cities compiled earlier this year by Mexico's Citizens' Council for Public Security and Criminal Justice. The ranking doesn't count deaths in war zones or cities with unavailable data.

Thirty-four of the 50 worst cities were located in the region, including repeat murder capital of the world — San Pedro Sula, Honduras — which saw 187 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants in 2013 and is getting steadily worse. A full one-third of global homicides occur in Latin America even though the region has just 8% of the world's population, according to United Nations data.

Drug trafficking, gang wars, political instability, corruption, and poverty combine to cause the region's elevated violence.

He is Eze Nri, he has no influence in other igbo communities. You guys should stop this hyping. I'm Igbo, my genealogy and that of my village didn't originate from Nri.
I wonder oh.

Reading the book by ex-slave, Olaudah Equiano, it is clear that there was no resemblance of king in Igboland. Igbos then only heard about the very distant Oba of Benin. The Aro people had the opportunity of creating an Igbo or Aro empire, but they knew nothing about statehood; they only concerned themselves with slave trading.

El Niño strengthens amid warning millions could face hunger and disease

• NASA warns this year's El Niño is still growing and could rival the record 1997 event

• Oxfam says El Niño could leave tens of millions of people exposed to disease and hunger

This year's El Niño weather event -- characterized by warming waters in the eastern Pacific Ocean -- is already one of the three strongest ever recorded. NASA says El Niño conditions are still strengthening, and it could even rival the intensity of the record 1997 event that wreaked worldwide weather havoc.

As the weather goes wild across the globe, the aid agency Oxfam has warned that this El Niño could leave tens of millions of people exposed to disease and hunger.

"Millions of people in places like Ethiopia, Haiti and Papua New Guinea are already feeling the effects of drought and crop failure," Oxfam's Jane Cocking said in a statement. "We urgently need to get help to these areas to make sure people have enough food and water."

2015 is on track to be the hottest year on record, NOAA scientists say, and El Niño conditions could last until early summer 2016.
