PoliticsRivers State 45billion Naira Syringe Factory Ready December by kel4soft(op): 8:00pm On Sep 21, 2014
The Rivers State Governor, Chibuike
Amaechi has hinted that the state’s
syringe factory will commence operations
in December.
He also announced that by December, the
Peter Odili/Woji/Akpajo link road will be
open for motorists.
Speaking with Government House
correspondents shortly after an
unscheduled visit to the factory site at
Rumuosi yesterday, the governor gave
assurance that two out of the four syringe
factories will commence production by
December.
Already, machinery and equipment have
arrived for installation at the site.
“As you can see, work is in progress. We
are looking for money to pay…We have
paid close to N29billion out of the
N45billion,” Amaechi remarked.
The syringe factory is sited at Rumuosi
along the East-West Road, and is expected
to provide about 2,000 jobs to the people
of the state.
Amaechi further added that in addition to
producing 1billion syringes, the new
factory will also produce 1billion needles,
and 100 million IV giving sets, annually.
It also has the capacity to expand to
pharmaceuticals and other medical
supplies in the state.
The MoU for the factory was signed
between Rivers State Government and
Sortimat of Germany, Austroplan of
Austria and Rommelag also of Germany.
On the Peter Odili/Woji/Akpajo link road,
the governor said, “the Peter Odili/Woji/
Akpajo Road will be ready by December
this year. The road is over 10 kilometers
with two bridges, and when it is
completed, it will help decongest traffic at

wesley80: You are entitled to your opinion but stop making it sound like a fact till the details are all out. You have absolutely no basis to assume the building collapsed because of a structural defect.
Your are not making any point. Why include APC in this thread with your half hazard theories? Now 8years ago when that law was implemented, it was hailed by both Christians and Muslims. That said, same law is in Rivers State since 2007 and most cities in Nigeria on the control of noise decibels not above 85-90db. How is this an Islamic agenda by APC? On the contrary the Church has evolve and experience unassailable growth. That is why even in my Church the sound systems are well filtered and control to give nice sound effects to congregation without disturbing your neighbours that may not be Christians or Jehovah Witness who you know have different believes You just feel like creating an article to attack APC meanwhile your heros are diverting your childrens funds to SA. When are you people going to have sense?

PoliticsFG Announces N213bn Intervention Funds For Electricity Companies by kel4soft(op): 10:29pm On Sep 19, 2014
The Federal Government said on Friday that it had
approved N213bn facility to rescue private
electricity companies.
Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-
Madueke, said this while speaking with State
House correspondents at the Presidential Villa in
Abuja.
She briefed journalists on ‘Electricity market
stabilisation facility and the bankability of the
power sector’.
“The CBN, in collaboration with the Deposit Money
Banks, will provide a total facility of N213bn to
settle both the legacy gas debts as announced on
August 2 and also the shortfall in revenues to the
sector since the handover of PHCN companies on
November 1, 2013,” she said.
According to her, N36bn would be tied to
commitments to supply specific volumes of gas-
for-power and to negotiate and execute bankable
gas supply agreements with power plants.
She also said there would be a new electricity
tariff to reflect the new developments.
The minister said, “NERC (the National Electricity
Regulatory Commission) will publish a reset tariff
order (MYTO 2.1). This tariff order will take into
account the CBN provided facility, current levels of
energy output, the new baseline gas price and
other variables that more closely reflect the true
cost of running electricity businesses.”
She said the electricity market, mainly consisting
of private operators, would repay the facility with a
first-line charge on their revenues over a 10-year
period.
She added that there would be a moratorium on
repayment of the credit facility by the distribution
companies until electricity supply improved
across the country.
She said this would ensure that the cost of
electricity for ordinary consumers continued to be
affordable.
The minister added, “The CBN will, on a case-by
case basis, be working with the Deposit Money
Banks on some of the prudential guidelines
associated with acquisition loans for electricity
assets through extended restructure of the debts
repayment during the moratorium period.
“This will only apply where it is clear that strains
on loans are a direct result of recent, unforseen
adjustments in the policies that guide the
electricity market.
“The credit facility will be disbursed via
commercial banks and a special purpose vehicle,
which will be managed by a dedicated fund
manager. This structure will ensure that the funds
are repaid in full, within the time frame of the reset
tariff order.”
With her at the briefing were the Minister of Power,
Chinedu Nebo; Governor of Central Bank of
Nigeria, Godwin Emefuele, and Chairman, Nigerian
Electricity Regulatory Commission, Sam Amadi.

kaorama: It is not all about putting this machine in place. What efforts is his govt making to empower local farmers to produce the cassava roots needed for the machines to run? How will the machines run, on water? Or has his govt done anything about independent power generation? How good are the roads to the interior farms from where farmers get cassava roots to the machines cos I know the roots must be processed within 24 hrs of harvest, less it will give a very low quality flour.
You don't know Gov. Amaechi. Not very far from there is a power plant.

This is interesting times, during the 2011 election almost all Ijaws in Rivers bar the eastern deltas were in ACN. They were not traitors then, they happily hosted Ribadu at Isaac Boro Park during their Presidential Campaign, they were not traitors. Now, the tide has turned, we are Boko Harams, Was it not same Ijaw Abiye Sekibo and Tonye Princewill who openly opposed Jonathan?

Ankio Briggs needs to eat her words when she said, PDP is the problem of Niger Delta before I start taken her serious.

I won't insult you cos I know that a lot of nairalanders are immature and can't do without insulting anyone. You have already chosen a region for me and if after reading what I wrote you still believe I'm not from rivers state then it means you don't know nothing abt the state. Tackle the points I raised and not me. And for your reminder, the COAS is from Opobo and you know what that means. On election day, I bet you won't even go close to a polling boot.
So COAS coming from Opobo means he kill his people because of an election? Please go and do research about my people. You don't know General Minimah, if you do, you wouldn't have made this remark. He is well respected and have never been a politician. I have always voted in my unit since I turned 18 even voted during OBJ's 2003 mass rigging. So I don't get what you meant by I can't vote. Will the Soldiers stop me from voting?

Let me tell you in case you don't know, Minimah's COAS starts and ends in Abuja and he can't do NOTHING against the peoples' will in Opobo or any part of Ijawland. I am an Okrikan and I tell you nobody can DO NOTHING to me on Okrika Soil. FYI, nobody will even attempt it. You talk as if Ijaws are people that can be cowed to submission.
I cry for GEJ's government. He is implying a Chief of Army Staff is now a politician? Please leave our respected brother General Minimah out of politics.

brainpower: After reading through this thread, I still didn't see where it was confirmed that the ticket has been given to him. Why are APC members bothered about him being PDP flag bearer? They shld even be happy since they said he will not win. Imagine a political perty where everyone is scared to declare their interest cos the governor will be angry with them yet we have over 15 aspirants already from PDP, that will show you that it is diversified in PDP and everybody has a say. APC in rivers state is owned by one man alone who decides what happens. The question is- why the many confidence in PDP form all these notable men from River state? Why aren't they going to APC to contest? They know the heart of rivers indegenes are in PDP
Which indigenes? PDP was not created with Rivers State. Like as I said, I only seek inputs of Rivers eligible voters or PDP members in my state? .Not one TAN rascal that is from south east and interested in GEJ's job to his state progress.

Now that Bro. Felix Obuah and his PDP led executives in my lovely state have decided to give the Junior Minister of Education the PDP gubernatorial ticket come 2015 election. What is your humbly take? Stellbell, remember you earlier said it was a rumour and the man is only been used to distract APC in the state. But, as things stands now, endorsement upon endorsement for the Ikwerre man to succeed his brother (no problem).
As am writing this some elements from Orashi on AIT, are pleading with the Honorable Minister to contest. He has even receive the blessings of Oba of Ogbaland last week. I thank God, my people, the most informed and unintimidated people of Opobo people has rejected the Junior Minister through this link.

Before you tell me to mind my business, I will only do that when the Junior Minister stops bringing my people that has long rejected the torn umbrella called PDP into his political gimmicks.

Why should an Opobo man or Nkoro man be part of that WiKed Party?

At the right time APC Rivers State will conduct her Governorship primaries of which I as a registered member in my Unit will fully participate. We wont flaw the electoral guidelines.
