PoliticsRe: Nigeria Has The Best Spoken Pidgin English And Various Variants Of It. by kel4soft: 9:22pm On Sep 22, 2014
Port Harcourt pidgin is not monolingua (spelling or grammar). The guys in Diobu and Marine Base watersides speak different version from the regular on the streets of PH. You hear names 'Abobi', 'Ahboi' and so on. I bet you, you may not understand one thing those folks from aforementioned areas will say if you are around them.

Ramnon2: DUH!!!! That's because those are cities in multi-ethnic states. How else will they communicate, particular for the English-uneducated ones?

Among the mono-ethnic states of SW, SE and Hausa-speaking Northern Nigeria, the SE states speak far more pidgin. Unlike SE, You hardly hear Yorubas speaking pidgin among themselves, except for those in Lagos.
Well said.

PoliticsApplicant Drags University To Court Over Non Publication Of Interview Results by kel4soft(op): 5:54pm On Sep 22, 2014
BY GABRIEL ENOGHOLASE
BENNIN- AN unemployed graduate, Mr. Omoyibo
Emmaunuel has dragged the Federal University of
Petroleum Resource Effurun (FUPRE) before a
Federal High Court in Warri, Delta State over the
non publication of the results of an interview
conducted by the institution seeking for
employment.
He also pray the court to compel the institution to
publish the results of applicants “who participated
in the written examinations into various vacant
positions”.
He said he was seeking the reliefs under the
Freedom of Information
Act, 2011 and the Federal Character Act.
Emmanuel said it was expedient on the University
to publish the examination results; having
published the vacant positions on some national
dailies on May 21, 2013.
He lamented the “inconvenience, he and other
applicants who came from all the nooks
and crannies of Nigeria to participate in the
examinations on 21st November, 2013”.
The applicant in the suit filed by his counsel, K. C.
Wisdom Esq. and made available to newsmen in
Benin City noted that the institution has refused to
release the examination
results “despite repeated demands”.
He therefore urged the court for a declaration that
the results be published and made available to him
within seven days of the receipt of the court
process
The applicant also sought for an order that the
comprehensive list/interview panel records of
current staff (including indigenous staff of Delta
State) of the University between 1st January 2014
to date should be produced.
Besides, he prayed that the criteria and
comprehensive guidelines for determining eligibility
for employment in the University; being a Federal
Government Owned University should also
be produced”.

Barcanista, lets dissect.
PoliticsGOODNEWS!!! Intense Lobbying As Reps Set To Debate PIB Report by kel4soft(op): 5:33pm On Sep 22, 2014
The report of the Ishaka Bawa-led House of
Representatives Adhoc Committee on the
Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) is ready and
is billed for presentation and subsequent
debate after “clearance” by the House
leadership, investigations reveal.
Some of the PIB report recommendations
seen by LEADERSHIP reveals a complete
review of licencing rounds and investment/
contract renewals in the case of Joint
Venture (JV) Licences and Production
Sharing Contracts (PSCs) between
International Oil Companies (IOCs) and the
Nigerian government.
The IOCs demand that the PIB explicitly
recognise contract sanctity for existing JV
Licences and (PSCs). New terms for JV
Licences and PSCs IOCs insist should
apply to only new contracts and licences
in view of the billion dollars up-front
investments made by oil companies in old
contracts with the Nigerian government.
In other recommendations, the
discretionary powers of the president to
allocate oil blocs has been replaced by
competitive bidding, except for Nigerian-
owned oil companies.
Also, the powers of the petroleum minister
in the proposed National Oil Company and
subsidiaries have been considerably
reduced in line with the proposed
commercialisation of state-run oil
company. By this development, interests in
the country’s oil and gas industry –
government and private – have began
intense lobbying ahead of debates of the
report at plenary.
A member of the House Committee on
Petroleum Resources (Upstream) disclosed
to LEADERSHIP that the petroleum ministry
last week took some lawmakers, including
himself, to the United States capital,
Washington DC, as part of lobbying on the
PIB.However, this claim could not be
verified as at the time of press.
For a PIB that has been severally torn
across regional lines in the National
Assembly, the Northern elements are
poised to dictate the direction of the clause
by clause voting on the PIB report. The
North have consistently rejected the 10 per
cent Petroleum Host Communities Fund
contained in the PIB. Southern lawmakers
on the other hand are the most vocal
supporters of the bill, a signal to how they
will vote when the PIB report is debated
on the floor of the House.
The North has a superior numerical
strength over other parts of the country in
the House. The North West, North East and
North Central have a combined
membership of around 191 out of the 360
legislators.
The Speaker of the House, Aminu Waziri
Tambuwal, on September 16, 2014, gave
the Bawa-led Adhoc Committee on the
Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) a 21-day
ultimatum to submit a report. Tambuwal
gave the directive at plenary while
declaring open the fourth legislative
session of the Seventh Assembly.
This is just as a PIB cash-for-passage
allegation filtered round the National
Assembly. It was alleged that the ministry
of petroleum Resources and the state-run,
Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation
(NNPC), was being asked for cash to
ensure the PIB’s passage, an allegation the
House leadership dispelled.

Abagworo: Yes I know there. I hope you don't buy from those boys inside that mini market unless fairly used. 90% of Moccasin shoes worn in Nigeria are Aba made. Might even be more. Port-Harcourt boys don't wear Aba stuffs unless tricked into buying them.
Everyone in Nigeria wears Aba made since we are not all Politicians and oil workers. But, making Aba made shoe as your number 1 is my point. Even Ladies have mixtures of both including celebs.

barcanista: @ anonimi you are a correct guy!!!! I will PM you.

Honestly, I was shocked when I saw 45b needle factory. Such project shouldn't cost more than 5b at most 10b. It is pathetic and that is why I want to see what gulped N45b. Amaechi was a PDP man and was the Speaker during Odili's regime. He has done laudable projects but with contract inflation, which is pathetic. Anyway, I am doing a reseach on what it takes to build such factory.
For now, I'm giving him the benefit of "doubt"
Thank God, you said you have to do some research to determine the cost of constructing a Syringe factory. Do we have one in Nigeria? If yes, what were the cost of putting that and their capacity to produce 1billion syringes and needles add to other medical equipment to be provided?

That said below are the some well known companies around the world you can do your research

Ozonna: When next you go to Aba, meet a shoe maker and tell him that you want foreign standard. He'll only ask you if you can afford it. If you agree on a price, get ready to collect a shoe that you'll pass down to your descendants cheesy.
Thanks man, I believe you agree with me on their jeans.

Abagworo: If you buy shoes below 10k, there is 50/50 chance you just bought Aba. Original Italian shoes range from 30k upwards.
I have a customer I buy at Agudama, Dline. They don't sell Aba shoes. I don't know if you know where am talking about near the railway.

Donmarrius: I have been longing for this.

Truth is that, its only Abia and Anambra, that can give Lagos a run for her money.

The administrations in Anambra starting from Obi to Obiano, are actually getting it right, but more needs to be done.

While in Abia,i was thinking Orji Uzor was either suffering from greed and hence, kept the state fund to himself or he is lucifer that took over the governance of Abia state,so as to imporvrish the people therein, untill i was able to understand that,T.A Orji,is the combination of the two, summarily tagged the "greedy luficer".
Even before Peter Obi came to power or the creation of Anambra State, Onitsha has always been a commercial city. Why are you now giving Peter Obi the credit and when his city was not mentioned here. After seeing the Anambra low IGR at the end of 2013 compare to Kwara State, then something is wrong with the former Governor.

I have a special tailor that makes my clothes for me at Aba. Those guys are genius. I can make close to 15 clothes at once there ranging from shirts to my etibo. But, for now I don't patronise their shoes and jeans cos they are still way below standard, that may change soonest if this topic is anything to go by.
