President Muhammadu Buhari will be in South Africa, today to participate in the Forum on China/Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) taking place in Johannesburg, December 4-5, 2015. At this forum President Buhari will follow up his meeting with the Chinese leader Xi Jinping which took place on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meeting in November in New York.

This is contained in a statement issued by the senior special assistant to the president on Media, Garba Shehu.

According to Shehu, President Buhari had indicated to Xi Jinping, the Chinese leader at the bilateral meeting in New York that he wanted China to re-commence stalled rail projects under new terms that would see China providing nearly all the financing required.

Of particular interest is the coastal railway project stretching for 1402 kilometers linking Lagos in the West with Calabar in the East; a project that is expected to be financed with 12 billion U.S Dollars Chinese loan and which will create about 200,000 jobs.

Another rail project that will be up for renegotiation is the $8.3bn Lagos-Kano standard gauge modernisation project, of which only a segment, Kaduna-Abuja has reached completion stage.

President Buhari is also expected to discuss ways of removing all obstacles in the way of the 3,050 MW Mambila Power Station, considered a strategic project which was conceived in 1982 but has not taken off.

The Chinese president had informed President Buhari of the willingness of his country to finance the whole project through a special loan agreement. The president, who will be accompanied by the minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyema; minister of Transportation, Chubuike Amaechi; and the minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Okechukwu Enelamah, will return on Saturday,December 5.

Rivers State government is set to recall Students under the care of the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency(Rssda) from their various Universities Abroad.


This was made known by the Rivers State Commissioner For Agriculture Onimim Jacks during a meeting with parents of the students under the scholarship of the Rivers State Government.

There was a bit rancour when the Rivers State commissioner For Agriculture who represented governor Nyesom Wike Revealed the intention of the state government to parents of the students.

PUO REPORTS gathered that some of the parents of the students did not take the decision of the government lightly, as many were seen mormuring and helpless over what fate awaits their children.

The government intention is to transfer the students mostly those in 300 Level and below to the Rivers State University of Science and Technology and others Nigerian universities.

On the 30tn of November Rivers APC party faithfuls came out in their numbers to show support to their party members killed during the 2015 election. Just as the procession was almost close to Isaac Boro Park for the maim events. Nyesom Wike hired some thugs to disrupts the procession. They were led by one Nwanosike a.k.a ishi bambay a well known cultist and the unfortunate CTC of Ikwerre Local Government. They claim that they are marking World Aids Day. Brothers and Sisters, World Aids Day is every Dec 1 and not Nov 30 just to counter APC procession. one wonder folks that claim they were marking an event with war songs

All federal roads from ph to the rest of igbo land are deliberately kept in an abysmal state to disconnect igbos in ph from the rest. Aba and PH suffer the most from this

Most federal roads in southern Nigeria are not in good conditions.Itu- Calabar, Lagos-Ibadan and Ota-Lagos are examples

Port Harcourt is a massive disappoint, especially the views when you're coming in through the airport. People like to exaggerate the situation in Aba. Its still bigger than onitcha so idk about it being left behind. Umuahia is VERY underrated

The airport is at the outskirt of the city. The view from the airport don't look nice though but can be develop from that axis since Greater Port Harcourt is not far from which houses the new stadia and Wike seems to have bought into the vision since he has already name his own sole administrator.

These are the type of threads that should be seen regularly here on politics section not every time IPOBs and tribal insults.

I did enjoy the banter when pictures of different states and construction works were spranging here. There was this my Akwa Ibom friend on nairaland that we keep exchanging banters of this is better than that. These 2015 Governors look lost and have not really kicked the ground running. God bless those 2007 sets Governors, love or hate them. They all perform better infrastructure wise.

OP, by God's I have been to all your above mentioned cities. You will be unfair to Aba cos is the odd one out since is not a capital city and hence attention was not not properly given to it.

One of the city with the best road networks aside Lagos surprise! Yes thats the gospel truth. Aba indigenes need to help government vice versa. A situation where the altitude of an average resident sucks on sanitary issues. I was at Azikiwe road to see my tailor on a sanitation day I had left early to avoid been caught by the Nigerian Police in PH. On getting to Aba that was assumed to be a sanitation day, none of the shop owners were engaged in this monthly exercise. They told me that, they didn't see any reason to join in the exercise. I also noticed carbages littered everywhere in the city.
You still have some decent places at Aba ala GRA and its environs.

ASABA
As someone said, not really much to excite one, just a quite city with fewer major roads and have town planning issues cos most of the new layouts road networks are thrashed. Still a decent place to wine down though.

ENUGU
Op I was wowed when I visited the coal city earlier last year to see... ( e no concern you). As you are ascending the city from Enugu-PH road into Enugu, Arab Contractors stable welcomes you taking you to several dualized roads inside the city. Places my host took me to are New Heaven, Shoprite and some random estates occupied by some well-to-do.

Decent city with her fair share of roads , only noticeable industry in that state are hotels. Agbagworo hope you are married and faithful cos dose Ukwu can make a man of God forget John 3:16.

As someone earlier said, a new kid on the block. Can we for once dismiss this motion that a city must have several high rising buildings to qualify as one?

CALABAR
The most beautiful city in aside Abuja.

Why are people always making mistake in believing that if you don't have a high rising buildings, then the said place shouldn't be regarded as a city. Is unfair to downgrade Uyo on this assumption. Even before Uyo started having roads, the place was already set for greatness. While a Maritime Academy Student at Oron, I frequent there once in a while in 2005, always look calm and peaceful with nice vegetations sprang almost in every part of the state. There are many European countries without all these high rising buildings but still stand tall with their counterparts elsewhere.

Before Amaechi came on board, the only prominent roads in Ph was Aba Road and I will partially say Ikwerre.
Amaechi came in and now we have several prominent roads yet one fool will claim he failed. Never for once did he gave us open gutter Road as currently experienced from wike. Amaechi's roads are all laced with underground drainages that we are all benefitting today.that was a governor with class, and not the current fool in charge.

That open drainages and even shallow couple with the fact that what should have been dualized will just be resurfaced and fellas rolls the drums. Is annoying my brother seeing us going back to Odili's regime. Remember Odili constructed Rumuokwuta-Choba road as a single lane before 2007 poorly. The road failed in just 13months. Amaechi came , paid property to demolished their structures and expanded the road with under ground drains and walkways (check the distance of that road). If Amaechi had resurface that road then, without doing the needful I bet you Wike would have gone back to resurface same cos it would have failed long ago

I am an indigene of Rivers State born and bred there. No one including some of the igbos who are currently leaning towards Wike because he is of the PDP or even some Akwa Ibomites should rewrite Rivers State history. Amaechi was an exceptionally leader in my state. He brought quality against mediocrity in Rivers State. Even my fellow Ijaw brothers only issues with him is not on perfrromanc but more of his personal altitude which I can't judge him. From Okrika ring roads and bridges to Unity roads and bridges were all given attention by this Ikwerre born politician. No one I repeat no one should try and rewrite Amaechi's legacy. If Amaechi have been patching potholes and maintaing single lane with just like what Wike is currently doing. I doubt if PH will have more than three dualised roads. Every village in Rivers State have an at least one modern health centre and a model primary school. I leave you with this video from no other person but Wike himself. Remain blessed.

Amaechi even redesigned Air force flyover after some section caved in due to the rubbish work Bulletin did under Odili. RCC redesigned everything from start to finish. Is a shame some people come on nairaland to cause Amaechi cos his only sin was campaigning for Buhari. Wike is a god to them whether he performs or patch pot holes he will be hailed. Have any one of them suggested that Wike can replicate that Obiri-Ikwerre interchange at Rumuokoro to ease the traffics over there? They don't care whatever Wike does, provided is not Amaechi who worked against 'our brother' all is well. The number of students who got scholarship under Amaechi abroad without necessary been connected is another plus for the former Governor. Even the teachers recruitment was excellently done.
