In this Country,we have hordes of men/women receiving salaries and parading themselves as security intelligence agencies.

What do they really do? i perceive their work is more of intelligence gathering and yet they never gather any intelligence until the plot has been hatched, sometimes even announced b4 execution and finally delivered and then the Military will be unleashed to quell it.

Last month, intelligence report was received about an armed robbery attack somewhere in the Northern part fo Nigeria and the robbers gave the exact date of their attack.Suprisingly, they came same day as earlier announced and raided Banks and left.

We have to get pro-active in this country and stop all these reactive fire-brigade approach to sensitive security issues.

The outgone Speaker of the Nigeria Fed House of Representatives,Mr Dimeji Bankole was picked up this evening by EFCC operatives thereby bringing to an end the days of drama and stand-off.

I pray that this time,EFCC and indeed GEJ's govt will use this occassion to prove to all Nigerians that indeed the wall of corruption is collapsing in Nigeria

The fastest way to resolve the Ajaokuta dilemma is for nigeria to partner with the Chinese regarding that Steel Plant.

Though we know how the Chinese behave regarding their business models, I believe that Steel Plant will work if they are involved.

But due to corruption, Government will not do what is right.

Look at the Greenfield Refinery projects, the Chinese guys were ready only for Federal Government to shift the goalpost by ayear.

I recently heard that Patrici Etteh has been absolved of her alleged wrongdoings by the house.

What a parting gift and some called democracy.

Corruption still thrives in Naija (biig time).

Surely it will end one day.
Etteh was cleared by the corrupt House of Reps because her name is among the Nominees submitted to GEJ for Federal appointment, perhaps for Ambassadorial position(or even a Minister b/c i dnt trust these PDP goons)

Some crazed individuals who have become slaves to these white-man teams(africans appear to be slaves to anything with a white-man's imprint) have taken it to an extreme fanaticism where some even engage in fisticuffs and sometimes stab themselves over arguments in respect of these clubs dt do not care a hoot about whether yu live or die.

Thank God i am not and will never be captured b this new-found religion that have enslaved the 'souls' of men !
PoliticsRe: Okorocha Freezes Imo Accounts by kellybaba(m): 5:54pm On May 14, 2011
Dede1:
Bros, I am mindful that democracy is the government of people based on the laws. The last time I checked though, democracy is not the government of Okorocha. I can not remember when referendum was passed in Imo State allowing a person who is not yet a governor to issue gubernatorial directives. So your use of the language “people find okorocha's policy okay” is not only ridiculous but downright disingenuous.

If we are not borrowing USA style of democracy, what the hell are we doing with executive governor? The Igbo culture does not allow the concentration of authority or decision-making on the hands of one person. In the parliamentarian system ran by Nigeria in the 60s, the Senate President or Pro-tempore was the Vice president.

My point remains that democracy is system of government based on the tenant of laws not the tweaks individual countries could bring to bear.
You can speak all your grammer but the Bankers who must retain their biggest customer(State Govt A/c) know better. No Wiithdrawal from those Accounts until after May 29th.ROCHAS has spoken.

Any Government whoo does not feel the pulse of the people will have problems and serious problems at that.Ask anyone in Imo State especially the poor masses(not the ruling class in Imo) and 95% will tell you how they cant wait to see a new Governor in Imo State.

I think the only thing that is permanent in life is change and change when it does come sweeps away any resistance to it.I urge all political actors to show restraint and play by the rules guided by that fact that sovereignty lies with us-the voting public.

We'll take the money oo if it comes but we'll vote right and protect our votes !

Nairaland GeneralRe: Ohakim Must Go by kellybaba(m): 12:25am On May 02, 2011
All things being equal the Election at the Poling Units would largely be free and fair and Ohakim & his spinners may not be able to do much at that level but where the real challenge lies is the COLLATION AND ANNOUNCEMENT and this is where the Game changer is.I expect APGA to insist on INEC using a fresh set of returning officers at the COLLATION level and their identity must not be made known until the Election morning same way JEGA did by using Universty dons to replace compromised RECs in States during the Presidential Polls.

Even if the mob follows the Ballot papers from polling unit to collation centre, they wont be inside where the actual collation will take place unless INEC has in place a machinery that will allow Party Agents to be part and parcel of the centralised collation of results subsequent to the announcement of election results and the winner thereof.Indeed i expect INEC to introduce this mechanism if it doesnt exist given the peculair situation of mutual suspicion in Imo State at the moment.

This will effectively make the loser of the election satisfied and gracious enough to congratulate the winner given the level of transparency displayed.
Prof Attahiru Jega-the Ball is in your court.

I just find it unbeleivable that southerners are still being butchered up north and still the nigerian govt folds its arms doing nothing, not only that but Goodluck Jonathan has done nothing to bring these people to book.

It just makes you wonder how he is going to be able to run the country effectively, the attitude of the state governors is also quite shocking, how come they did not come out to condemn these depraved acts and demand that these killers be found, charged and arrested? It just goes to show you that the southerners are not in control of nigeria, if Jonathan still has to walk around on eggshells around these northerners despite being the head of state then what good is the power that he claims to have?
I have said it on countless occassions that GEJ should summon courage and do things differently but i perceive he is hamstrung cos he belongs to the PDP-a party that takes care of the rich only ! We have the Intelligence agencies and for days information was circu;ated on threat to life of young Nigerians who ideally are FGs property and yet nothing was done until they were snuffed out.yet these pple are still collecting salaries and allowances

kobikwelu:
lemme leave out the issue of attacking jega

but certain issues worries me,

1) is 48 hrs enough to sort out the logistic problems that caused this postponement??

2) were there instances when election material (ballot papers) were disbursed to PU?? if so, were these same papers returned??
Answers:
1) No.With what has happened now,the 'exam papers'(ballot papers) are already leaked out & yu cn b sure is in d firm grips of some politicians right now waiting to be used on election day. There is need to recall all the ballotpapers or cancel those already in circulation & issue new ones with special security codes and you will agree with me that you'll need at least one week to try to make some progress in this direction

2) Everything is circulation shld be cancelled cos they have leaked out already and are compromised.

I believe Prof Attahiru Jega meant well but is a victim of internal sabotage comeing from moles planted within INEC to frustrate him since he could not play ball with these vested interests.
All the same,i still think the man did what is right by arresting and postponing a failing process.Think about it guys, this 'election' could have gone ahead inspite of lack of materials in most states and election results will still be collated and announced on Monday that we now have new set of federal legislators ! GOD FORBID ! May we never go back to those WURU-WURU days !
Foreign AffairsRe: Libyan Airforce ''No Longer Exists'' - Allied Commander! by kellybaba(m): 11:34am On Mar 29, 2011
Concept:
The end might have come for Gaddafi but he is a man who knows what he wants. If we have a leader like him; I beg not in the aspect of clinging to power at all cost oh. I mean leader that has relief programme for his people and make the country attractive for outsiders e.g Nigerians to seek to live. Imagine we have one, I believe we will chorus in consensus put 'jara' third term. The alliance is prejudicial, genocide had happened in many African countries but you will never see westerners coming.

It is just a pity, payback time for Gaddafi, reason being that, he is not white's man puppet and he has also committed attrocities against them, remember? Lockerbie plane bombing, and the main reason for the intervention is Oil . The Black Gold itself, our own country's situation in the hands of Black Gold is the least expected, the world powers know its influence on world economy therefore they do not play with it.

Do not blame me but I think this write up is to bid Mr. Gaddafi and his sons farewell. The west that stands as mediator are also a supporter of the rebels. My own interpretation of No fly zone is that no plane should fly over Libya and from the update that has been perfectly effected. The allied now shifted to bombing of the ground forces, meaning what, the rebels will be able to advance. In short Gaddafi is already counting his days.

I have a question. Assumming that during Nigeria Civil war, The allied supported Biafran and started dropping bombs on Lagos and other Nigeria sided states. How will you feel? What will be your reaction?
I think in enforcing a no-fly zone and in view of the military capacity of your enemy, you need to cripple their capacity to take your own enforcing-planes off the skies and thaz what i think led to hitting the ground military assets of libya.call it allied defence strategy

EducationRe: Fg Names Location Of Six New Varsities by kellybaba(m): 4:20pm On Nov 27, 2010
Hello Mairalanders,i need urgent answers to these Qs tearing my heart apart?
1) Does a rich irresponsible man with 27 sickly and malnourised children(Nigeria currently as 109 Universities and about 27 belong to FG) cure their ailments(which is attributable to his frivolity and crass parental irresponsibility) by simply giving birth to six(6)new children all in a bid to show the world he has healthy children ?

2)Considering the pathetic student to lecturer ratio in Universities already owned by FG,who will teach the Students to be absorbed by these new Universities?

3)Is it all about getting all JAMBITES into school or about making sure that we produce quality GRADUATES who can hold their own anywhere in the World? An Economics graduate went for interview and was asked a question about 'OMO(Open Market Operation) and she said it was a DETERGENT

4) The N10billion naira voted by GEJ to start off these 6 Universities, would it be enough to finance even a single world-class and serious-minded academic institution?

5) How sustainable in the long-run will the running of these new Universities be or are we going to end up having another SIX(6) decrepit,poorly-funded,Strike-ridden and cult-infested Universities 5-10yrs from now?

6)Is this FG decision a way of creating Lifetime economic lifeline/investments for a retiree President and Minister of Education who by this decision have 2 Universities in their homestates(Bayelsa & Jigawa States respectively) in the likely event of future PRIVATISATION of these SIX Universities?
FamilyRe: Who Should Give Out A Woman In Marriage? by kellybaba(m): 9:58am On Nov 17, 2010
Walking a Bride down the aisle and giving her in marriage(collection of dowry) are two different things !
1) Anyone can walk her to the Alter but ideallyy it should be the Father or Brother(where father is deceased)or cousin/uncle(where father is deceased and no male sibling).
2) Giving her hand in marriage should be a fatherly and elderly person in the Paternal home and this could be the father or an elderly uncle.
This is premised on our common heritage as Africans who have culture and tradition
