Religion / Why did an omniscient, omnipotent & all good God communicate through a book? by kelvinkelvinkk(m): 7:26pm On Apr 22, 2021
This goes specifically to people who believe the Bible is the word of an omni-God. Books by their very nature requires interpretation. intelligent people could read a passage in the-same book and with very good intentions still come up with radically different interpretations of its meaning. Humans are flawed beings with abilities or perceptions limited to the subjective alone. Communicating through books would always lead to varying understandings and interpretation of that book.

If an Omni-God authored a book then that means that the book has an intended meaning, but that humans are bound to interpret it in different ways, many of them missing the intended meaning poses a problem.

At first glance this seems to only reveal a flaw in human nature, but upon deeper considerations it reveals flaws in any authoring Omni-God. As I’m sure you know , countless denominations of Christianity , and different sects of Islam and Judaism exists and vary wildly in practice, doctrines and beliefs due to varying interpretations of their holy texts. This inarguably leads to suffering. Wars between various sects of the-same religion and preventable suffering and I’ll give two examples.

1. Jehovah witnesses believe that the Bible forbids the ingestion of any blood including life saving blood transfusions. If they are right , that means they are obeying Gods will and won’t be punished for violating Gods instruction. While the majority of Christians who aren’t JWs are further separated from their Omni-God or even punished for not understanding the texts. If JWs themselves have misunderstood the Bible instead, most Christians are just fine while the JWs misunderstandings of their Gods word have them dying preventable deaths.
2. In the early years of Christianity, many sects of Christianity existed with radically different views of who Jesus was, some said he was God and calling him otherwise was blasphemy, other said he wasnt God and calling him God was blasphemy ETC. people who disagreed with themself based on misinterpretations called themselves heretics and this sometimes lead to violent conflicts among Christian sects which often lead to death among members.

There are countless contradictory interpretations of many holy texts out there resulting in very very different beliefs in the same religion. And many leading to the kind of unnecessary suffering I mentioned. If an Omni-God authored or inspired such a text, he either couldn’t do any better, didn’t know the suffering it would cause or didn’t care if suffering resulted.

If he couldn’t do any better communicating in a medium immune to misinterpretation then he isn’t omnipotent. If he didn’t know the suffering he would cause then he isn’t omniscient. If he didn’t care that suffering would result from misinterpretation then he isn’t all good or omnibenevolent. Anyway you look at it , you cannot consider the author of such a text to be anything close to an omni-God.

But of course there is a reasonable explanation for the flawed nature of sacred texts, they were written by human inspiration alone and no such God was ever involved. ‍♂️
Religion / FREE WILL: My Conversation With A Christian by kelvinkelvinkk(m): 2:51pm On Mar 30, 2021
Christian: God loves you so much that he gave you the gift of free will so you can choose to believe in him or not

me: Okay cool I choose not to believe in him as there isn't any real evidence to support his existence .. because as a naturally skeptical and rational person I require concrete evidence to believe anything.

Christian: You’re going to hell to suffer for eternity

me: wait, but I thought I had free will.

Christian: You have free will but if you don’t choose him then you've chosen to go to hell.

me: that's actually stupid and demented. If You claim to give me free will and then asked me to choose between option A and option B with a gun pointed to my head, and a condition that if I chose option B you would pull the trigger, then what use is my so called gift of free will? Because if I chose B and indeed you pulled the trigger, then I didn't chose to be shot, you chose to shoot me. Your Good is totally evil for sending anyone to hell because they chose not to believe in him.

Religion / Why Do We Even Have Female Christians?? by kelvinkelvinkk(m): 9:23am On Dec 14, 2020
As a seeker of truths, facts, evidence, reason and logic. I find the idea of female Christians completely absurd. if you are a female, the place where yahwehs absurdity becomes completely clear is when you look at Yahwehs sexism. Especially one that totally degrades women.

The dictionary defines a misogynist as "One who hates women." It defines the word "sexist" as:
1. Discrimination based on gender, especially discrimination against women.
2. Attitudes, conditions, or behaviors that promote stereotyping of social roles based on gender
Is yahweh the Bible God yahweh a sexist? Let's look at the evidence( I love evidences ).

We find this in 1 Corinthians chapter 14:

As in all the congregations of the saints, women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.

This seems like a straightforward passage. And yahweh is the one who inspired the Bible.
In Isaiah 40:8 yahweh says that the word of the Lord will last forever, and he says the same thing again in 1 Peter 1:24-25. So here we have yahweh, in his eternal and everlasting Word, saying that it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church.

This quote from 1 Corinthians 11 is very important:
* But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a woman is her husband, and the head of Christ is God. Any man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head, but any woman who prays or prophesies with her head unveiled dishonors her head--it is the same as if her head were shaven. For if a woman will not veil herself, then she should cut off her hair; but if it is disgraceful for a woman to be shorn or shaven, let her wear a veil. For a man ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God; but woman is the glory of man. (For man was not made from woman, but woman from man. Neither was man created for woman, but woman for man.) That is why a woman ought to have a veil on her head, because of the angels.
You may find it hard to believe that something that ridiculous is in the Bible, yet if you look it up you will find it is there. You also wonder why the most powerful being in the universe.. All wise all knowing would give a Damn about who covers their hair and who doesn't.. Considering we were all born without hair covers

Then there is this section from 1 Timothy chapter 2:
* Let a woman learn in silence with all submissiveness. I permit no woman to teach or to have authority over men; she is to keep silent.! Wow
It is hard to miss yahwehs meaning when he says something as direct as, "I permit no woman to teach or to have authority over men; she is to keep silent."

If you think about it, you will realize that Yahweh started this type of sexism at the very beginning of the Bible. In Genesis chapter 17 God says:
* This is my covenant, which you shall keep, between me and you and your descendants after you: Every male among you shall be circumcised. You shall be circumcised in the flesh of your foreskins, and it shall be a sign of the covenant between me and you.
God makes no mention of forming any sort of covenant with women.
There are many other examples that we can find in the Bible:

* In John 20:17 Jesus says to Mary: "Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father," as though the touch of a woman is somehow improper, but a few verses later, is happy to have Thomas touch him.
* In Genesis chapter 3, God punishes Eve, and all women for thousands of years, with greatly increased pain during childbirth. No such pain is inflicted on Adam.
* In Ephesians 5:22-24 we find this: "Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything."
* In 1 Peter 3:7 we find: "Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers."
* In 1 John 2:13, John says, "I write to you, fathers, because you have known him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you have overcome the evil one. I write to you, dear children, because you have known the Father." No mention is made of women.
* And so on. There are many, many examples like these throughout the old and new testaments.
There are other, broader examples of misogyny that are readily apparent in the Bible as well:
* Are any of Jesus' disciples women? No.
* Are any of the elders in the book of Revelation women? No.
* Are any of the books of the Bible written by women? No.
* Etc...
Yahweh it would seem, wants nothing to do with women.
Keep in mind that the Bible's misogyny has affected society for centuries. Only 6.7% of the whole Nigerian parliament are women, only 11.7 per cent of Board Directors in the country are women. only 7 out of the 109 Senate seats and 14 out of the 360 House of Representative seats are occupied by women. This are obviously borne out of the various subconscious perceptions and followings of this Bible texts and teachings. It's even worse in the Quran.

If you think about it, you will realize that there is something quite odd about this situation. In spite of the fact that the Bible is supposed to be God's eternal Word, modern human beings totally reject God's sexism. Why else would we have so many sexual inequality movements championed by various feminist movements even among Christians. We now have female pastors which is against the instructions in the Bible for instance. Because we know gender inequality is nonsense. There is absolutely no reason to suggest one gender is more relevant than the other. YOU CANNOT FIGHT FOR GENDER EQUALITY AND GO AGAINST THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE BIBLE OR BE A CHRISTIAN. it does not follow.

If God is going to take the time to write and publish "the Word of God," why does the book contain so many problems?
* Why isn't each page of the Bible astonishing us with its brilliance and insight, and filling us with wonder?
* Why, instead, does the Bible contain so much nonsense or, in this case, bigotry?
* Why are Christians constantly having to justify, rationalize, excuse and explain the Bible? In this case, we find modern Christians trying to defend a God who obviously doesn't rate women on many different levels.

To any unbiased observer like myself. the reason for sexism in the Bible is very easy to understand: The Bible was not written by a "all-knowing", "all-loving", "fully-enlightened" "god". It was written by primitive men who were flagrant sexists. Just look at how men in primitive countries like Afghanistan treat women today. Those are the kind of men who wrote the Bible.
And we all know it -- Christians and non-Christians alike. The reason why modern societies totally reject sexism is because we all know that the Bible's sexism is completely contradictory and completely wrong. It is exactly the same situation we see when Christians face slavery in the Bible. Christians and non-Christians alike reject the Bible's teachings in these areas because the Bible is obviously wrong. The part that is profoundly strange is that, while completely rejecting these parts of the Bible, Chistians will claim that other parts of the Bible are God's word. They are blind to the obvious contradiction because of their utter delusion.
Once you break the delsuion, it is completely obvious: yahweh the Hebrew God is purely mans idea and creation. No two ways to look at it.

This man above is just kidding himself, Atheist think not believing in God makes them look smart and intelligent but in reality it only makes them look stupid. If they are really confident that there is no God then why don't they provide credible answers to important questions that has long been worrying the minds of people like:
1. Where do we come from?
2. Why do we die?
3. What actually happens to us when we die?
4.what is life? since the body alone or the brain alone is not enough to keep one alive, it means there's a force we don't understand which keeps the body alive.
5. Why are we here?
6. How come life is so co- ordinated if it sprang forth from mindless chemical reaction that happened over billions of years
7. Why is there no living proof that shows the missing link in evolution?
8. What does the future hold for us?

Christians don't know. Atheist don't know. It's legit to say that we all don't know. Therefore, I think agnostics are more smarter. Because, truth be told, we all don't know.

Actually most atheist are agnostic atheist.

Romance / Are Atheists Generally Smarter Than Non Atheist People? by kelvinkelvinkk(m): 5:58pm On Sep 11, 2020
Atheists are MORE intelligent than religious people because they rely on facts rather than intuition, research claims

Religious people are not as smart as atheists, according to new research.

Scientists claim believers have diminished intelligence because they rely on intuition and not facts.
The strength of religious conviction is inversely linked with intellect, researchers found.
Researchers led by Imperial College London surveyed more than 63,000 participants on online tasks that measured planning, reasoning, attention and memory.

Participants indicated whether they were atheist, religious or agnostic and completed a 30-minute set of 12 cognitive tasks.

Scientists found that the effect of religiosity was robust regardless of people's age, education and country of origin.

Agnostics are smarter than believers but less intelligent than atheists, researchers found.
Graham Lawton, author of the new book 'How to be Human,' suggests that as our lives become more stable, society could become 'godless' as our need for religion fades away.

When children encounter religion, Mr Lawson argues they find the explanations it offers intuitively appealing and believable - making them born believers - but this instinct is drummed out of them by education.

The author claimed the reason people continue to be believe it because 'they haven't thought that hard about it'.

However, although the future will be increasingly secular, humans will never totally lose the god instinct.

As long as existential uncertainty exists Mr Lawton claims religion will not disappear completely - even though he believes some of the things in the bible are 'just crazy'.

People cling onto moral guidance and existential comfort and they don't let go of them easily, he said.

His comments are based on the cognitive theory of religion which states that belief is a by-product of our cognitive equipment.

Our brain is primed to see meaning everywhere, which helps us make sense of random events.

Children like the idea that there is order and design in the world and it is actually useful as it allows them to reason about possible threats that we cannot see, for example a predator lurking in a nearby bush.

According to Mr Lawton, although this is an evolutionary advantage, it also facilitates the build-up of delusional belief and a ‘feeling of rightness’.

'To be an actual atheist and reject all religious ideas is not humanly possible - we'll still fill that hole with something’, said Mr Lawton.

As long as existential uncertainty exists, Mr Lawton claims religion will not disappear completely.

'It is well established that religiosity correlates inversely with intelligence', researchers led by Dr Richard Daws, wrote in the paper published in Frontiers in Psychology.

'A prominent hypothesis states that this correlation reflects behavioural biases toward intuitive problem solving, which causes errors when intuition conflicts with reasoning.'
Religious people have a lower IQ as a result of bad performance on tasks where intuition and logic are at odds with one another, writes the Independent.

They found in certain tasks 'atheists outperform the most dogmatic religious group by a substantial margin' but in other tasks this was not the case.

Researchers believe the disparity is due to behavioural biases rather than impaired general intelligence.

'These findings provide evidence in support of the hypothesis that the religiosity effect relates to conflict [between reasoning and intuition] as opposed to reasoning ability or intelligence more generally,' they wrote.

Earlier this month a survey revealed that one in four non-believers pray when confronted by tough times - despite insisting they are not religious.

For atheists and agnostics, personal crisis or tragedy is the most common reason for them to resort to prayer, with a quarter admitting they pray for comfort or to feel less lonely.

More than half of all adults in the UK pray regularly despite only one in three praying in a place of worship, according to a poll carried out by ComRes on behalf of the Christian aid agency, Tearfund.

A third of people pray in the morning or before they go to sleep. People are also increasingly likely to solicit support from God while cooking or exercising.

And one in five pray while doing household chores while 15 per cent pray while they commute.
