Hello everyone,
How's the weekend going?
As my Alaska journey gets closer fear dey catch me lol.
Anyhoo, please I am trying to book emirates online:
1) I noticed the only payment option online is to use your card. Is there a bank you can pay in like some other airlines do? My card doesn't work online and they don't accept third party cards so I can't use anyone else's card.
2) I intend to travel at 35weeks, I saw an epistle and a form on emirates website talking about "traveling as a preggie" and fit to fly (their fit to fly seems a bit more detailed than other airlines). Please I hope they won't give me wahala on the day of my trip. Please those who flew emirates while pregnant can you advice me? Thanks

She had the $7k cash, bank statement which she showed to them with a balance of N1.5MM. They replied that hospital cost is inexess of $20,000 so all the fund is not sufficient. She had not paid for the hospital yet. She told them the hospital just gave only appointment but bill was communicated on phone as $5k.
It's dicey especially if she used a very popular hospital. For instance everyone knows Rush in chicago and except you are extra creme -de- la -creme it may be hard to convince anyone you are birthing there without having sufficient funds, unless you were given a special discount. You have nothing to lose at this point though, re-apply and see how it goes.

Hi everyone,
Please I would like to ask a question which I think is stupid but I've heard it from 3 different people today and I think I should just ask anyway.
Is it true that you can get PTA from more than one bank?

Alaska is at the extreme North west of USA. According to Sarah Palin, she can see Russia from her back yard.
Sigh it's only 2hrs from Washington Seattle lol. Y'all need to chill!!! Alaska isn't as bad (regarding the weather and distance ) as you think. I'm only defending it cos I intend to give birth there by Gods grace. Lol

Actually, it is post dated to the day of your trip (as it is on your passport),and you need to using it within 7 days after that date.

If your said trip is Apr 30, the ETC is dated Apr 30 and you are expected to use it between Apr 30 and May 6.
If the hubby is not with me how do we sign the consent letter for the ETC? Abi we go don sign am before I leave for the journey? Or do they accept scanned copy? Also how soon before I travel can I apply for ETC. For instance, if I still have 2-3 weeks before I travel, can I still apply for the ETC ? Would the embassy think I still have time to
Process a visa and not grant my ETC? I mean can I apply for ETC at any time before my trip back home?

Check justwise's post on the first page of this part 4.
God bless you. I didn't know ETC was short for emergency travel document. It looks easy, why are people not doing this? It seems easier than the naija visa... Am I missing something here? Wait ETC does not disturb the blue Pali right? Can you do ETC if your husband isn't with you on the trip?

Hello everyone ,
Please I was going through the thread and I have a some more questions
1) please what is ETC? I noticed people kept saying you can get ETC if you don't have time to get a naija visa after getting the blue Pali. What is the process for getting ETC and what is the pro and con of ETC compared to a Naija visa
2) if there is no US passport agency where you are, is there anyway you can still get the passport same day. I noticed people who didn't have passport agencies in their state had to use the post office and it took 2 weeks...... Is there any other way?
Thanks a lot !

Maybe I don't get what you're on about but I've done it twice both with Edwin and Tanko.

I would think USPS charges a flat rate for their post regardless of what state you're in.

Using Tanko/Edwin is more cost effective than buying airplane ticket with a baby to go to DC, Atlanta or NY (those are the only 3 I know), and also logistic wise.
Fly down Keh? Please can I just mail it from Alaska to the naija embassy myself? Would It get done?

I didnt use tanko but it's all via post, so I guess you can also use him from alaska.
So you did the visa yourself? How did you manage to follow it up and get it in time? I heard that if you don't use an Agent they just throw it anywhere (even if you pay for expediting) and you don't get it for weeks. Is this true?

My relative drove me around, gave me snow pants and boots lol. But really it wasn't that bad, it was just about negative 10 degrees. I'm glad I will be going back in summer.

Greetings.
Happy u were able to handle ur child's tongue-tie issue eventually.

However for mommas who may experience this in the future, you may wish to kindly return back to naija and quietly do it at any pediatric or even general Hospital for waaaay less.

I did my 2 year old boy's tongue-tie loosening just a few weeks back because although I was being strong heard that he'd out grow it when the mum observed it few weeks after birth which now made him unable to speak.

A nurse nipped it after consultation with a pead right there at the injection room as simple as trunking a finger nail.

Fast fwd to a few weeks and he's now using the loosed tongue picking speaking phoné swén swén like his big sister.

Bottom line is some things we do with less drama and complications here in naija.

Ciao
Abeg I can even do tongue tie for free sef lol. Tongue tie 350? Kai!!!!! This US ehn! Na only God o

Kemo! U still de on top ds Alaska P?

U knw we are plenty queuing behind you for this Alaska! Wats d gist?
Lol so I went to
Alaska in February( I wasn't showing at all) to gather burden of proof. So it turns out the hospital takes VD- 2000 ( it was 16000 but you get 85% discount for paying self pay and an additional 20% if you pay before delivery)
The 2000 includes Epidural and all medications
Pediatrician 300. Doctor - 5000 ( the one I chose) NICU -497 Total- 7,800
It's on the high side but that's where I have family. Plus my relative promised to buy all baby things I would want. She already got the car seat, sterilizer, warmer, bottles, clothes etc.
PS: I had to go with all tests and scans to see the doctor. He asked me to bring some specific tests when I come for delivery and he promised a free scan before delivery.
That's the story o! If you no get family for Alaska don't bother coming lol

Hello everyone,
How are you all doing?
I would like to ask a few questions
1) my hubby wouldn't be coming with me for childbirth.... Can he scan the form ( the consent form signed in front of the US notary) to me via email or must he send it through DHL/ fedex
2) I intend to get a Nigerian visa on the blue Pali, I read through the thread and saw a "Tanko". Please who is Tanko? Must I use him? I would be giving birth in Alaska, is Tanko my best option or can I just do it myself?

No because your sister is not an hospital or a school.

If you want to send money to your sister you will need to do Western Union or Moneygram in which case she will have to physically go to an agent location to collect it. There is a cap of about 800 dollars @ about 265naira per dollar per person per quarter on Moneygram . I am not sure of what the Western Union is per quarter but it's about 400 dollars per transaction.

Please read the last 10 pages, this topic has been discussed extensively.

Thanks a lot. I have read before I asked the question. I was confused that's why I asked. Not everyone who asks a question hasn't read through the thread. I appreciate you. God bless you

Basically, you request for and present the invoice(s)with wire transfer details from your hospital+/- doctor in the U.S to your bank here in Nigeria and they would bid on your behalf with the CBN and then debit your naira account once the transaction sails through. You get debited at the prevailing officially CBN rate for the day.

P.S some banks will require additional documents other than just invoice from a U.S hospital/specialist. Check with your bank,
Thanks a lot. Can you do send the money to any account like a personal account in the UD or it has to be an account like a school or hospital? I mean, for example- can I send money to my sisters account in the US using this method you mentioned above. Would the bank agree to do that?
TravelRe: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 3 by Kemo88: 11:01am On Feb 21, 2016
Hi everyone,
How's everyone doing? While reading through the thread I noticed some people mentioned sending money directly to an American account and the bank with do that at the CBN rate. May be I'm not getting it right hence my confusion. How does this work? Is this what the form A is about? Can someone shed some light on this? I thought you have to put the dollars (you got by yourself) in your domicilliary account before you can send it to the US.

Please I have a quick question. Do you need to wait for the social security number of your LO to arrive before you apply for the US passport? Is the birthcertificate alone sufficient. I'm asking cos the hospital said the official birth certificate will be ready in less than a week but the social security takes 12weeks. Thanks

The last time I got PTA from stanbic (October 2015), the lady that attended to me said if one doesn't have an account with stanbic you get charged for the transaction... But things have changed, I got mine from Allen.
Really? Wow! I wonder if GTB may be selling ... Would have hubby check GTB tomorrow

All of us are 'fearing' Alaska, it's not even in USA, it's after Canada! Only Eskimos live there. Even if na 1k to deliver baby for there, we will give you an e-kiss and wave bye bye.

Godspeed as you go to Alaska
1st of all, all those chicago mums can equally go to anchorage Alaska as the level of "coldness" in chicago and anchorage are same. I know other places like Fairbanks, bethel, in Alaska are terribly cold but ANChorage is same as Chicago. Trust me! Lol
2ndly, To make matters worse you no even give me E-hug, na only e-kiss. You ain't nice lol
