As someone with a similar experience (Bsc & MSc Engineering) as you and having spent 14 years in the Bank and considering the happenings in Nigeria. I'll advise you thus: 1. Save up and leave the country and further your biochemistry profession 2. If you find the financial industry good enough; I'll still advise 1 above, but study something that will build your skill up using tech e.g. data science, distributed ledgers, there are a while lot of them; I'll personally not advise ACCA/ICAN except you have the deep interest in accounting/auditing, this is also based on experience, I have people in Nigeria with these degrees still stuck with no jobs or still in the bank and can't get jobs in these sectors because of no experience, if you're looking at moving out of the country then it's fine you get the certifications if they interest you.

All in all, the faster you leave the industry the better for you
