How many weeks are these birds.. From which hatchery
I bought them on September 15th at 4 weeks old, so do small maths lol.

I bought from a poultry farmer, I don't know his source, I didn't bother asking (naivety you can say) but I've not had any issue with all of them save for 1 who was limping earlier but is doing much better now.

BTW, I've never given them any medication too.

On off season u have a range of buyers in Akure the women that sell old layers do buy life broilers off season though their prices may not be the best, then u have the Aboki S that do chicken suya they buy from 6wks depending on the size of ur birds, then u can sell dressed chicken to frozen chicken sellers but the most important thing is go and do ur market research and start with like 50 birds as u demand grows then u expand d more
Good luck
thank you so much for these tips, God bless you!!! will work on it.

I want to ask a question and I'd love good advice. I really enjoyed raising these birds of mine for Christmas sale and it's something I'd love to continue, as in, turn it to a full time thing.

but I'm wondering how to sell? I observe people don't buy fresh chicken on a good day, only during festivities.

please, if you're into this full time, kindly drop some tips. though I know the price off season won't be the same as compared with Christmas sales, but I'm still interested in it.

I'm in Akure BTW.

mehn.....my broilers are eating too much....I can hardly meet up...so sad cry I got 30 broilers thinking at least a bag can last for 1 month...but now I can't meet up and December is around the corner.... God help me...I don't want to be at a lose as I've spent so much from my small teacher salary trying to raise birds. cry
guess you weren't well advised. I have 30 broilers too and they eat 1 bag per week. I bought 8 bags of feed when I bought the birds in September, thinking they'll last till December, but I was wrong.

as you've been advised, try to get money to feed them so your investment in them won't be a waste. don't worry ehn, December is here already, you'll soon smile.

Still wondering why the lamp with a very strong and bright beam is focused on them. Considering the fact that they are at their infancy, wouldn't it have an adverse effect on their eyes? Is it an improvised incubator?
I think it's for heat or something sha. same thing was done to my baby at birth and I had the same fears as you, but nothing bad happened.

FamilyRe: How My Wife Has Been Terrorizing Me Spiritually And The Effects On Us by kendraloops: 12:59pm On Oct 20, 2017
You just described my MIL. Everyone was worried too till she was taken to a mental hospital and was diagnosed with some illness. She's been in drugs since then, though she's not perfect now but it's much more better than when it all started.

hers was even worse than your wife's. so much wahala, I can't type all.....

take her to a psychiatrist. she'll resist you strongly and fight with all her power, but just do it. don't involve anyone o especially her church people, that'll much worse. if she refuses to take her drugs, codedly slip them into a cup of tea for her. don't let her know o.

but I must tell you, it's not easy at all. I dey salute my FIL. the man goes through a lot. please if you know you don't have the strength for it, find ya square root cos it's a really long journey.

good luck brother.

It's not multivitamin. If you get multivitamin, you don't need to administer calcium again. You can use calcium occasionally when you noticed poor bone formation.
Vitalyte or any good multivitamin like sharivit should be OK for your birds.
alright sir. thanks a lot. I'll buy and let you know how it goes. God bless you.

Congrats. Glad that I was of help. Continue feeding them multivitamins to boost their health and immunity.
you really helped me as I'd lost hope on the bird. so please that picture I attached isn't a multivitamin? seems I'll still have to buy Vitalyte right? can I administer both drugs on the bird at the same time.

the other birds are doing great too but as a precautionary move, do you advice I give them both this drug and Vitalyte also?
please kindly guide me.

Thanks and sorry for my many questions.
AgricultureRe: Xmas Broiler Broading In Pictures by kendraloops: 8:11pm On Oct 06, 2017
I wasn't able to get Vitalyte for my bird but I got a close substitute(according to the seller). Hope he's right and it works just like Vitalyte. But I saw my bird standing today for the first time in weeks. I was so happy, It was a great surprise.

I only just started administering the drug yesterday though, so, is it just coincidence that my bird stood today or the drug is already taking effect?

AgricultureRe: Xmas Broiler Broading In Pictures by kendraloops: 4:46pm On Oct 03, 2017
EMMAACHILE:
Its mainly caused by a lack of vitamin B (thiamine) and likely vitamin D. Solution is to give a complete feed with good multivitamins in either feed or water.
Possible causes could be poor feed, too much drugs especially anticocci drugs which doesn't go with vitamin B, etc.
If possible, isolate the weak one and put the multivitamin in the feed and water. Feed it well. That should solve the problem.

A good multivitamin is vitalyte. Double the normal dosage for like a week and let's see the outcome.
thank you very much!! I'll try this and let you know the outcome. the dosage is usually written on the pack I guess? thanks for all your responses.

What's the age?
Is the leg swollen?
Touch the leg, is it hot?
What feed are you using?
A picture would have been better.

Pawpaw leaf is mainly for control of protozoan disease like coccidiosis.
it's 8 weeks old
no, it isn't swollen.(as far as I can see)
yes, it's hot. was surprised and worried. can a bird be down with fever?
I use Top feed
I'll send a picture tomorrow
thanks
AgricultureRe: Xmas Broiler Broading In Pictures by kendraloops: 9:23pm On Oct 02, 2017
please kindly advice. 1 of my birds has been inactive for about 2 weeks now. it first started limping, but was feeding well. now, if you don't put it's beak in the feeding trough, it won't eat or drink. I've tried the pawpaw leaf therapy but no improvement. it's not growing at ALL. though I always meet it in a different position from where I Ieft it overnight.

it sticks out one leg like it hurts or something. I've tried massaging it, still no luck. no observed growth at all, still looks just the same like when I got it.

what do you suggest?

Bro, we are in d same position am studying mechanical engineering also in a federal university I already wrote jamb sef and I wanna study architecture in another federal university, it's just a passion i feel like pursuing and I f I dont do that I feel like am gonna regret it later in life, am currently in 400 level, so probably if I get picked I'll be in 100lvl and 500lvl am still young tho
please!!!!!!!!! don't combine architecture with any other course. I did a few archi courses in school in my 1st and 2nd years and I have an idea how stressful it is. the students sleep in the studio daily. how will you cope with making models and stuff like that? it's not easy, except you just want to be an average or poor student with loads of carryover. so please, think deeply about it. architecture is a jealous course.

oh. just read you're in 400l now. you can give it a go then. still think about it very well. all the best!
