kacey007: Finally got a GA with a score I thought won't fly. Thank you walspring for the GRE discount and also lagosismyHome for your contributions on this thread.
Profile CGPA: 4.24/5 Undergraduate Course: Mathematics GRE: 293 Schools applied to: Cleveland State University: Admitted East Tennessee State University: Admitted with GA
I applied to Cleveland State University with the profile above and I was admitted last year without funding though. So I mailed the graduate coordinator concerning funding and he said I was in the next round of funding.
I had to defer the admission to fall this year perhaps I would be offered a scholarship.
When I realized that nothing is forthcoming from CSU concerning funding, I 'shappally' applied to ETSU for Fall 2019 in February. I thought it was late cos I read somewhere back on this thread that all applications for Fall should be submitted before December.
I was surprised when I saw the email of the offer. The GA covers monthly stipends and tuition waiver.
Thank you all. Great for you, what's the course |

AgreatMan: Sure, you can write the GRE in September n write the Toefl is October. Just try to ensure you send your application November or first week of December. All schools r still taking applications by that time. If you can get it earlier, it's fine too.
D most important thing is that u need to have targeted 4 schools before these exams so that u can tell both are TOEFL to send your original scores to those schools. U can apply to more than four schools anyway but the exam bodies will send your scores free of charge to any four schools. Thanks man, I appreciate!!..I am already shortlisting schools I'll apply to..I have a list of like 20 , after that comes my research in the schools itself, sending mails looking through the websites ...e.t.c |

fairheart: You are on your way there. This is not a question. Shortlisting schools, and you know what is next after shortlisting the schools. Write exam if required by the schools, apply, pay application fee. Everything is mainly self-explanatory. When you get to a junction you find a knot, ask questions and those with insight will answer them. Wish you the best. Yes, thank you,I am really serious about this hence my more than 1 year preparation time. |

AgreatMan: Well, I don't have all d answers because computers is not something I am familiar with. But of course, it's much easier for others to help since they have an idea of your profile.
1. Some schools will accept your HND, others will ask u to convert it via WES. 2. U will have to aim for high GRE scores but u can target schools that recognize Nigerians as "native speakers", this way, u don't need Toefl Uni of Maryland U of Texas at Arlington U of Florida U of Texas at kingsville Morgan State University U of Idaho North Dakota State U Texas A n M college station North Carolina state U John Hopkins U( heard they stingy) N others
3. Prefer extra for GRE, u might realize it's d hardest exam u will ever write. Target August to write it.
4. I am sure people will help with your son when it's time.
5. Corner your recommenders well, don't let them write 2 sentence recommendation for u o.
Good luck Thank for the advice, I do intend to write the TOEFL, just in case I see a school that needs it., is October an OK time to write it, cos I'll need like a month after the GRE to prepare for it. As for the GRE I have found its thread on nairaland and I am peruzzing DAT too,lol |

AgreatMan: Well, sometimes u need to put yourself in the shoes of people who might help u. Nobody knows anything about your plan cos u have actually said nothing.
You need to tell what u studied? What u intend to study. CGPA Maybe u will need WES evaluation for your transcript. GRE or GMAT or TOEFL (if u intend to write em) N others
From there, I am sure a lot of people can say do this, or start from here. Okay, sorry about that I studied computer engineering, my final Cgpa is yet to be out cos I just graduated, but my last cgpa was 3.21/4 , I intend to write the GRE and the TOEFL , and the field of study for my masters can either be computer , computer and elect or electrical engineering, they are related.my plan is to be admitted for the fall 2020 session |

goodemma20: since some schools have deadlines around December, It would be to your advantage if you have already sorted out the exams by July/August....hope this helps ok bro, thank u, ill discuss with my parents as this will probably mean i might have to take the exam next year as doing it this will increase my workload tremendously |

bigfrancis21: In addition to what goodemma20 said, I hope you are aware that most schools here do not admit for msc direct with OND + HND and that you would have to do WES evaluation to combine and convert your OND (2 years) + HND (2 years) into a 4-year US Bsc equivalent and apply with it instead? thanks i didnt know that before. i appreciate |

For the TOEFL, just carry the Kaplan and watch video tutorials for each section. |
