If the GA has been offered, you must remain in the appointment position on the date stated, or else, the benefits will not be renewed. If it has not been offered yet, you must have been appointment by these dates to receive the benefits. It doesn't say anything about paying your first year tuition. What is important is to secure your visa and be on campus by October 1. God forbid, should there be any delay, this school [b]may [/b]not renew the GA if you defer your admission.

To the best of my KNOWLEDGE, the school want all selected GA applicants to be on campus by either of those dates (you know which one applies to you) and should sign all appointment/employment documents before you can receive the tuition benefits. I stand to be corrected however.

If I'm right on that note, you need to tell them to make sure the GA benefits are evident on your I-20 (provided you didn't get that mail from the International Admissions Office) or better still if they won't do that, print the appointment letter that you received when you're selected and use for your interview.

Graduate assistants must be in appointment status on the following dates to receive the full tuition exemption and/or non-resident fee waiver: March 1st for spring, July 1st for summer, and October 1st for fall.

You have to send everything to them. Without the HNd, you don’t qualify for Masters and without the ND, the HnD transcript is useless. You have to send both transcript to school. Some schools like University of Illinois requires that you send both evaluated transcript and the Original transcript.

My gurus, if a fellowship offer has a minimum cgpa required......do I compare it with my WES evaluated or my normal cgpa...to know if I meet the requirement

Thank you for your response. Coming from you, I’d reconsider my stance. Do you have any credible registration center you can suggest? There’s actually a lot of them and the stories I’ve heard are quite disturbing. For instance, I heard some reg centers pay with stolen credit card and I don’t want to be a victim of ignorance or be involved with things of this nature. I’d really appreciate your suggestion. Me: I was offered a teaching assistantship with a two year RA that covers tuition and living expenses with a generous stipend. I believe the admission committee were impressed with my profile and asked me to upload my resume and official transcripts.

Me: I wrote GRE and TOEFL,....states scores
V.O: when did you graduate and what have you been doing since?
Me: I graduated in 2015 and went for the mandatory youth service in Cross River state. After my service I was offered a graduate trainee position at XYZ chemical industry where I work till date.

Me: The Nigerian government through one of her agencies NASENI has indicated interest in local content science and engineering and in particular provide funding for projects in nanoscience and nanotechnology, I intend to return to Nigeria an take a lecturing position at my Alma mater whilst I offer consulting services to chemical firms when the opportunity arises.

It depends on the school. Most of the schools are fine with WES as official transcript but some (a small number) of schools will ask for both.

Some schools can view your electronic copy directly from WES so you don't have to send them an official copy.

Just check in with each of the schools to know their process.

For your second question, I highly recommend WES. The process might be hectic but I believe it is the gold standard of evaluation. A few schools ask for evaluation from specific companies but WES is the most widely accepted.

That should work if the schools doesn't want to see the official from your institution. You need to ask the graduate office or graduate admission coordinator to elaborate on this! Some schools only ask for official evaluation copy, while some schools will still want to see official from your institution in addition to the evaluation copy.

Hi guys, for those of us that are applying to lots of schools and some might need official transcript, if I should send just one transcript to WES and then forward from WES to all schools needing official transcripts , will the school see it as official transcript?

In a scenario where an origianl of a document is required and u don't have an extra copy of the original. You can simply take the document to legal professionals in the law court most cases and tell them to help you notarize a photocopy of the document, They will sign and stamp with seal to show that the original has been confirmed and seen by a legal professional. Hence, it should be seen as an original copy.

It's been a while I have given updates concerning my applications

My Profile as at the time of my application:

GPA = 4.59/5.0 (B.Sc. Geology and Mining)
GRE = 154/157/4.0 (V/Q/AWA)
TOEFL = 105 (R-30, L-25, W-28, S-22)
Work experience: Been a Graduate Assistant for a few months.

I applied to three schools (all M.Sc.)


Texas Tech University - Rejected. Reason = Insufficient funds, despite a good profile. I was wait listed for funding at first before getting their love letter . I guess funding and admission are simultaneous.

New Mexico Tech (Safe School) - Rejected. Reason = POI informed me he couldn't secure anticipated funds and wouldn't take on new grad students this year.

University of Louisiana, Lafayette - Accepted. Wait listed for funding and got another love letter informing me I wasn't selected for the second round of funded offers.

Hopefuls don't be dismayed. So many factors go into getting admits and funding.
Congrats to all those who got admits and funding. It wasn't an easy feat.
If there was any mistake I think I might have made was applying to schools without back up POIs within them. So please when applying it is good there are various options of POIs within your research group of interest who could select you as their grad student peradventure your intended POI doesn't secure the grant he/she is anticipating (I hope this makes some sense )

It is an honour being here . I have learnt a lot form this process.

Nothing will happen. It is advice your GRE score should be sent to a school you are submitting an application for admission. In case you want to send the GRE score ahead of the application, I think you'll have to remind the graduate office to check their office for the score (and give them date it was sent) by the time you file the school application. Do you understand?

Yeah, I understand... I'll just need to inform them that I have sent it before the application and provide details

Please who knows what will happen if I don't have an application with a particular school..but I send my GRE to them anyway?
