Travel / Re: Why Wearing Isi-agu On Air Peace Matters And What The Company Can Do Differently by Kenn55: 6:42pm On Apr 07
voiceofpaul:
(Voice of Paul) While I was preparing to write the Joint Admission Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination for university admission some years ago, I attended one of the preparatory classes where the teacher revised the Circular Flow of Income in Economics. The whole concept rests on how each household in an economy contributes to the economy by offering factors of production such as land, labour, entrepreneurship, and raw materials to firms that produce goods and offer services, and in return, the firms reward the households with rent, wages, and profit respectively. The household would use their rewards to purchase goods and services produced by the firm, and the cycle of income continues that way, spurring investments and expenditures in the economy, and leading to its growth and buoyancy.

A real-life example is when a Nigerian company decides to manufacture a particular product that is usually imported into the country, Indomie noodles for example. If a Nigerian firm can source its raw materials such as wheat, and sorghum, its packaging materials such as paper, nylon, and other packaging equipment within Nigeria, the firm will have to pay all the Nigerian suppliers within Nigeria – and pay them in Naira.

The firm will also pay all the employees in the firms, assuming that they are all Nigerians. And in return, everyone paid would buy the Indomie noodles from the firm. As the firm spends money on raw materials, labour, equipment, and entrepreneurship on every household represented in their firms, the household would return the cash to the firm by purchasing the Indomie noodles. And then the cycle goes on and on in such a way that both the firm and the household optimize their resources for better efficiency. This is the way that a country’s economic activity is measured for gross domestic product (GDP).

Dr. Allen Onyema’s Air Peace’s airline inaugural flight from Lagos to London is a significant economic achievement and the most wonderful part of this story is the Isi-Agu that the airline’s hostesses wore. Putting on the Isi-Agu is remarkable as the cultural and historical stories behind the design of these cloths have amazed the whole world – right now, a lot of people including myself would have known now that the Isi-Agu attire is reserved for men who have killed a leopard, a show of strength, valor and honour in the Igbo Culture. As short as the story is, there is an economic power behind it. This is true because the demand for cloth can rise astronomically and it can become a global phenomenon. The same way that global consumers adore those who wear expensive Balenciaga, Prada, or Louis Vuitton, is the same way that those who are not Nigerians would appreciate the magnificence of Isi-Agu.

Provided that there is a global demand for Isi-Agu, the purchase order from these demands would flow to the Nigerians manufacturing the cloth, and in return, the producers would have to hire a lot of people to help them meet the demands – hiring people would mean that people have jobs, their taxes, insurance, retirement, social security packages are paid – and that way, the government has more money to reinvest into the economy – this is the way to grow an economy.

Additionally, one of the passengers on Air Peace posted that the airline served pounded yam, and Jollof rice on board. This is huge and commendable. What will happen is that demand for pounded yam, efo riro, oha soup, ogbono, egusi would increase astronomically and by so doing give jobs to people in the value chain of that business. Imagine that Nigeria manufactures all the Boeing airplanes that Air Peace wants to purchase. Statistically, it would cost Air Peace about 20 trillion Naira to purchase these planes, but the sad part of it is that the money would go to the American economy and not into the Nigerian economy.

Last but not least, we need to give accolades to the Nigerian President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu for granting approvals to Air Peace. I learned that the company has faced obstacles for years in getting permits. In essence, let us support everything Nigerian, everything African, be it our language, food, clothes, vehicles, and many more, this is the only way to grow economically as a country and as a continent.

My only comment on Isi-Agu is that Nigeria is a multinational country, just like Russia with different ethnic groups with their own cultures, traditions, and philosophies of life and the most predominant are the Igbo, the Yoruba, and the Hausa. Since Air Peace still operates as a Nigerian firm and offers their services to everyone within the country, the company could have just represented all the cultures in their attire – this will show inclusivity and diversity as one of the values that the company believes in.

Wait ooo. Is this picture the actual picture of the crew on isi agu? Because I thought they dressed in full traditional attire. What I'm seeing here is suit produced with isi agu material. So what exactly is the brouhaha that this is generating? I need to understand
Travel / Re: UK People Are Miserable, Nigerians Are 'happy' by Kenn55: 8:04pm On Apr 04
It is simple logic.
People will be happier in Nigeria than UK cos they expect nothing good, they have resigned to fate, they have accepted whatever Nigeria throws at them. For example, no Nigerian expects any of their leaders to make things work. Nobody expects that there would be a time when power problems are solved, if it happens then praise the Lord but no one puts their mind of that possibility so you just have to find happiness.

On the other hand, the UK and other advanced countries are different. Their citizens expect too much, they are never satisfied, they always want more which becomes impossible and this leads to unhappiness. This is why they keep changing government and their leaders are constantly under pressure from their citizens compared to Nigerian leaders who are the most comfortable in the world for any democratic country. Naija leaders no send the people, the people no send dem, everyone just hold their side grin

Be like say people wey dey carry unnecessary weight in the form of family plenty for here. grin

My prayers are with you. Just realise say you matter, and put yourself first.

It's not that easy. A lot of Nigerians especially abroad ones are carrying unavoidable burden. I met a beautiful lady weeks ago who was working 2 jobs not because the first job wouldn't be enough for her but she has to raise money to pay her younger brothers school fees so that he can stand a chance to get a study visa to come to Canada. I felt for her but what can she do?

Fortunately for oyibo people, they have a system that largely works for them so they become responsible for themselves alone. Unfortunately for Nigerians, no working system so the burden lies on those who managed to have to rescue those who don't have. At the end of the day, both the have and have not live a miserable life

If dapo of Ogun that we are criticizing here be a governor in southeast state you people will surely hype him all in the name of he's Igbo but trust me Tinubu will get it right

Baba don achieved everything on this earth, at his age he need to make records as one of the best president and he won't missed that chances, every bad wishers of Nigeria will meet their waterloo in no time

Bros what you are saying to that guy also applies to you.
If Tinubu was an Igbo man, there was no way in hell you would have ignored his drug dealing and forgery to support him. NEVER!. I can bet my left yansh.

I can also bet my right yansh that if Tinubu is an Igbo man, that guy you are quoting will see no wrong in him and support him. He will defend him as you are doing now.

Unfortunately I'm not sure if non tribalized Nigerians would even be up to 10% of the entire population. 90% of Nigerians of all tribes will always support and defend their own tribal thieves. At the end of the say, all of you suffer the consequences irrespective of tribe.

I doubt this your news,it was around #1300 this afternoon.I know the USD is going to crash in the coming weeks, but i doubt it was exchanged for #1000 today.

I predicted 600-700 for USD in February on this platform and I still stand by that value.
It's not because Tinubu is an idiot or he is wicked that we had 1800 per dollar exchange rate,it's simply because of the inherited FX backlog that they just cleared.even the 600 is not the best we can do as a nation.something around 450 by next year should be our target.

I'm interested to know what has triggered the naira appreciation which I'm happy about.
Did we export more to earn more forex? How did we get the forex that improved the liquidity in the system?
I hope they are not using the foreign reserves to defend the naira cos that is unsustainable.
Remember sometime in October or November when naira started appreciating over the dollar and it then got worse when the artificial liquidity the injected into the forex market dried up. If they are doing exactly what they did at that time and it fails again then they would have ended up killing investors confidence finally. I hope and pray that they are doing the right thing now.
The greatest problem in this whole situation is that no one is sure what will happen in the next days, weeks or months. It is better for it to exchange at say #1500 over a year period than to rise to 1800 fall to 500, rise again to 1200 fall again to 400, rise again to 1500 fall to 100 etc. No serious business will put their money in an economy like that. What we need is stability for a long period of time to bring back business confidence and attract investment.

There is this trend that I have seen happening over and over again. Let's me tell you a brief story about a woman who bought my ebook to make her japa journey to Canada very smooth. Pls note I won't her name. She was a teacher here in Nigeria and her salary was very small, barely enough to cater for her children because her husband died, so life wasn't easy for her.
One day, as she was scrolling through Facebook she saw my ebook in an advert. She contacted me and we spoke a lot, she eventually bought my ebook and took the easiest path to make her japa journey to Canada easy. She works as a cleaner in Canada but her children are in Nigeria with the grand mother.
This is where things got really crazy for her. She noticed that she was always lonely in Canada because all she does is to work 5 different jobs , eat, get paid and and the cycle goes on and on. There is no time for friends because nobody really cares about being your friend, you can't start greeting in the neighborhood like we do here in Nigeria. She was never really with the system but she had no choice than to adapt. Most of the Nigerians over there like her don't really want to associate with themselves. When you Japa to hustle, your whole life is just work and work even though you are going to get paid.
Well, she told me her children will soon join her in our last conversation and she will always be glad she bought my ebook which save her lot of money on travelling expenses because of the secret she learnt from me.
If you want to know her name , you check my ebook that if you want to buy my ebook. I want to help you the way I helped her too so that your japa journey will be smooth and easy. You don't really have to spend so much time when you will get the right information from my ebook.
Besides with just #5000 you will get the ebook. All you need is to chat me on 09047231316 right now.

Info marketer, which seminar did they brainwash you?
You cooked up a fake story to sell ebook.

It's obvious you don't know about BRICS... They sell their crude in their own currency, whilst strengthen their currency

Sell crude in their own currency to who? If Nigeria joins BRICS, who would they sell our oil to in Naira? Russia has a lot of Indian rupees as a result of trading in their local currencies that it can't spend today cos of the trade imbalance between the 2 countries.

If Nigeria and India trade oil in their currency where will you spend the rupee?

BRICS doesn't have a currency and won't have one because many of the players like India and Brazil don't want to move from an American hegemony to a Chinese hegemony.

Joining Brics is not bad if it is for the sake of belonging somewhere but to think it will make any impact economically will be naive.

This would be a huge step in the right direction.
We need to emancipate the economy from Dollar

Wake me up when China stops trading with the US in dollars.

Our problem is not the dollar, our problem is our balance of trade is too poor. Apart from oil, we don't sell anything to earn forex and we produce nothing for our own consumption so no matter the currency of trade, as long as our forex earnings is low and with huge trade inbalance, that currency will appreciate drastically against ours and the problem will continue. It is simply demand and supply.

Remember the currency swap deal with China where people taught it was a game changer under Buhari in his first term, what happened?

What we need is a complete revamp of the country and the economy to become a productive nation and improve our balance of trade, every other thing else is just chasing shadows. BRICS hasn't saved South Africa's economy from distress despite being in a better shape years ago, how would it save Nigerias economy that is even in a worse shape than SA?

But like everything Nigeria, we are more interested in virtue signaling instead of tackling issues from the root cause.

Japa is a very popular slang in Nigeria which means to run away from your country to a better country.
Over the past few years it has been discovered that many young Nigerians are living the country for a better life, greener pasture, better opportunities because their country does not have hope for them.
Every year, the country has fresh graduates from universities but only few are able to get the dream job because the supply of labor is very discouraging, not to talk of the frequent ASSU strikes that makes you to old to get a job in Nigeria.
This ripple effect has made many people to travel out of the country for a better life, get menial jobs and send money to their loved ones in Nigeria. However there are lot of information regarding how to japa that a lot Nigerians are not awares because immigration policies are changing constantly to make things tight for immigrants. So here they are 👇👇👇👇👇
(1) How to be a permanent citizens of UK, USA or Canada in less than a year
(2) How to answer interviews questions the right way for quick visa approval
(3) How to get funding for your education if you are a student.
(4) How to get a ready job in your dream country while waiting for visa application.

Nigeria economy is on autopilot at the moment. The worst thing that can happen to an economy is uncertainty. It can lead to hyperinflation.

It is better for exchange rate to be high and remain stable than to rise to say N2000 to $1 and fall to N600 and rise again to N1000 and fall to N800 etc. within a short period of time.

This kind of uncertainty is what kills businesses and traders will try to protect their businesses by doubling and tripling the price of goods and services incase.

If this uncertainty continues and businesses begin to loose money, a time will come when there wouldn't be goods to buy as businesses become extra cautious of restocking, that is when the real hardship will come. I hope and pray it doesn't get to that. Amen

Let them continue to follow the steps and let us observe the way the people/market would react.

My expectation is that there'd be resistance from the elites which would necessitate the CBN to come harder with implementing these policies.

They must not relent. It is a job they must do to rescue out nation from the locusts.

So far, I am impressed.

My brother the only solution is for Nigeria to be a productive country. Any other solution is cosmetic at best and wouldn't yield the result in the long run.
If we earn more forex then the naira will rise, simple demand and supply. Unfortunately our capacity to earn forex is dwindling and our imports are increasing over the years.
Weak currency favors production and exporting economies that's why most industrialized countries deliberately devalue their currency to make their exports cheaper since the world is now globalized.

Unfortunately we can't even take advantage of our weak currency. Our fundamentals are very weak. Farmers can't farm properly cos of insecurity, no electricity for production making goods produced in Nigeria even more expensive than imported goods etc. To crown it all, you have corrupt and greedy political, economic, religious and everyday people class who care about only themselves.

Due to the trial and error policies that have been happening in Nigeria over the years, we now suffer an investor sentiment decline. Investors are wary of putting money where there is uncertainty. No one right now can attempt to give a long term projection for the economy as policies are not well thought before implementing.
Most of what you proposed are good but will not make much difference if the fundamentals are weak

What is Trudeau’s obsession with Ukraine tho 😆

Trudeau is down in the polls so he is looking for ways to change the narrative in the eyes of Canadians. So he is using Ukraine as a wedge issue.
However, conservatives should be very careful not to fall into Trudeau's trap. Canada is not the US where the far right can win elections due to the structure of their political system.
The reason why I like the conservatives in Canada, UK and Australia is because they are close to the center. I believe a center right politician is better than a far left politician since the liberals are now moving too far to the left these days instead of pulling to the center.
If Canada conservatives start toeing the line of far right conservatives in the US, they will loose. I myself will stick with Trudeau if that happens. A far left politician is better than a far right politician. Tucker Carlson visited Alberta last week or so for a summit with conservatives and that is not a good sign.

Ukraine used to have a bipartisan support before. Trump had no issues giving military aid to Ukraine in 2017, 2018. Everything changed when he asked Zelensky to dig up dirt on Biden which lead to his first impeachment. Since then, he has managed to turn the far right into anti Ukraine cos of his own personal interest and vendetta. I hope Canada conservatives are wise to stay in the center and not tag along with the crazy far right guys in the US. Nobody wants to see those craziness in the US in Canada abeg.

I understand what you are saying. However, it shouldn't be your business to deal with someone who is simping. If the girl wanted to do that she should have done that without putting you into the picture. Your job with the girl was to chop and clean mouth and nothing more others can be simping

She just used your head to pepper the other guy and you fell for it. If there was a fracas between you and the simp, do you think the girl will be involved? She will just leave the 2 of you to disgrace yourselves in public while she is catching her cruise far away. Maybe she expected that the simp will flair up and fight you cos I don't see any reason for her to act that way.

First week of January, shawty wasn't available and i needed to get good loving. Called up one of my sweeties from old times, we're friends with benefits and the arrangement is cool with us. We have these escapades twice or thrice every year. Truth be told, she's a wowzer, fair skin, cupid face, quite intelligent. People give dagger stares when I'm with her, both genders.

Back to the story, after a whole afternoon of romping at this suite close to my crib (Can't take no lady i ain't marrying to my father's house), we decide to hit the pool downstairs to let the steam off. Romance gets pretty intense and we decide to take a breath. Her phone has been ringing the whole time and she has some messages too. She shows me, there's this dude that has been on her case for quite some time, he's asking where she's at, she video calls him and he says he's coming, she didn't tell him she's with someone.

Dude stays like 2 communities away. The Hot simp drives down in 30 mins. I see him when he enters. Wicked us decides to take things up a notch. We dive back in and for the next 35 to 40 mins, we do all sorts of 18+ shi with reckless abandon in his presence. The other occupants of the pool think something crazy is about to happen but we cool things down and step out again. I see him where he sits, his hands are shaking as he clutches his car keys awkwardly, he hasn't even touched his drink. I take observation of him, he looks like a geek, prolly in his mid 30s, the type that comes online to brag but can't ace a woman in real life. I don't feel one bit of pity for him. I'm wondering how someone can waste expensive fuel just to come and simp.

We take our leave shortly afterward. We walk up to meet him, i give him a handshake and he's like i should take care of her well. If only he knew. I gave a silent chuckle and we left him there.

Dude looks like a typical nairalander, i hope he see's this.

I always advise men to stop chasing women who aren't interested in them. Let's be realistic, that dude has more to offer her than me. He loves her genuinely, would spend on her, treat her like a queen too. But no, she'll rather bang disrespective and rude me. Women are naturally drawn to things and people detrimental to them. I can't date her because she's somewhat like me, and she can't be in a serious relationship with me either because i'm not a one woman guy and i always say it with confidence. Our arrangement works for the 2 of us. It;'s all active service. No questions or feelings attached, just enjoy the moment.

I could be labeled many things, one thing i'm not and i detest those who are is the simping shi. Things are happening. Simps belong to lowest class of men.

Guy I think you are the simp here. A small girl that doesn't even worth it is trying to set you up with your fellow guy and you are here forming real man.
A real man avoids anything that can lead to potential problems for him especially when it is on behalf of a useless girl that is not even your wife. You shouldn't have allowed her to do that. What if the guy is also useless and came to start fighting over a girl, what will you tell real niggaz? That you are fighting publicly over a useless girl that would jump to the next available guy? Is it worth it? Common, man use your senses.

This was how a guy in my street those days humiliated a guy cos of a woman. The humiliated guy came back with hired thugs to beat up the guy and mistakenly the guy died in the process. The humiliated guy (simp) is in prison as I write, the "real" man is 6ft under now and the useless girl is now married and living her life well. Who lost?

Yes. You have a point. They had better quickly address it if they have to make it clear that bachelors degree being entry requirement for post graduate certificate programs. That will be a huge progress.

Not really cos that program I was citing as example looks at the program not the individual. So it doesn't matter if you were admitted with a bachelor's degree or even masters as long as the program admits people with other qualifications like advanced diploma etc then that program is ineligible.

So people will have to check their program minimum entry requirements and see if their program admits only Bachelors graduates as minimum.
But I hope they won't use that criteria else a lot of graduate certificate programs won't qualify as there are only few that admits only Bachelors degree holders as their minimum entry requirements

Just as you must have thought, same way I have assumed it covers post graduate certificate programs. However, several applicants offering graduate certificate programs have written to their schools for clarifications and not one single school has come out to clearly give an affirmative answer to such enquiry.

I think the reason why they are still hesitant is because in some Ontario govt programs for example, they define post graduate program as any program in which the entry requirement is bachelor's degree alone and not any other qualification
So most of the post graduate certificate programs won't fall into that category because their entry requirements is not for bachelors degree alone. They also admit people with diploma into those programs.
So I guess schools would have to be sure before making statements.

The reason I'm responding to you is to once again make the point for Nigerians who are trying to migrate before the make mistake like you and come here next 3 years to start ranting. I don't give a damn about you, no be me bring you come Canada na your greed.

You are doing well in Nigeria. You have houses in which the rent alone can feed your family yet you came to Canada to do better. The first thing you ask yourself before you even think of applying for visa is what is my motivation to leave my comfort zone and move to an unknown country? If your motivation is making more money than you make in Nigeria, the question now becomes how? What skills are my taking to the new country? Is the skill in high demand? How much does it pay? What is the unemployment rate in that field? What is the cost of living in areas I have the highest chances of getting a job? After looking at current job vacancies, do I have 80% of those skills and experience? If I don't have them now, what is the plan to get them? and other important questions. If the answers are not satisfactory, you abort mission, it is not a do or die. If money is not the top motivation then the questions and research will be different. Even if the answers are satisfactory and you do everything right, you also have to factor in the fact that there is no 100% guarantees in life and prepare your mind for that in case. There is no country in the world where everybody is rich.

These are the questions any reasonable person would ask themselves and research before applying for a visa. But no, these days people just wake up and decide to travel cos they saw their neighbor traveled and is doing well. The question is do you have the same profile like him? When they travel carelessly and fail, they now come online like the gentleman above to try to label all of us as suffering abroad. They neglect their own bad judgment and reality but try to make it look like the country failed them. I'm sorry my oga at the top but leaving Nigeria was my best ever decision, it has paid off for me even more than I expected but I didn't relocate carelessly.

My brother, I'm not saying you are lying, your experiences are valid but to correct you, we Nigerians in Canada are not all in the same situation. If I were you, I will book the next available flight and return to Nigeria after all the rent from your houses in Nigeria can feed your family. There is no point getting depressed or disappointed in another man's country when you are better off in Nigeria.

By the way, now that Canada is putting a cap on people coming into their country, what that means is that visas are going to be harder to get. Even if your application is tight with all the POF and home ties, you can still be denied based on quota. This has made it more important to evaluate your motivations carefully before embarking on traveling.

If you are better off in Nigeria, then stay back. Don't go and occupy space for genuine Nigerians who actually will benefit from relocating only to come back 3 years later ranting how you were better off in Nigeria. That would be unpatriotic and greedy. Relocation is not for everyone, get your motivations right.

You youths have no respect for elders, you just come online behind the keys to disrespect your elders, you must be one of the corrupt politician spoilt child I guess if you come abroad not for betterment of your life or improvement I didn’t run from my country for security concerns no one is after me like you. I came to do much better than I was you coward calling someone you don’t even know their life greedy. I am not like you. Mind you I don’t even have to work my whole life in Nigeria before I left , rental earning alone is enough for me to feed my family. I work hard for mine and if I said my current earnings is not matching the bills here, I know what I am saying. If you call 24cad per hour low wage in this current Ontario then you I guess you are jobless. You will finish your course and will be in the labour market real soon and see how it goes idiot. Your father’s PSW company paying that amount how many psw earns 18cad an hour here in Ontario you fool or you think I don’t know people doing that job . When many people who have been working here for 10 years are still on 27 to 29 per hour except medical doctors and few others.

Most of you only believe in your pastor that’s why people who live here don’t come to share their experiences. I am way better in Nigeria than here I have lived here for 3 years and just waiting for few things and moved back home or move to the US and come here once a while. You won’t understand. Yeah everyone situation isn’t the same , you can say nigeria is not safe but people get killed here too, students get shot to death, people die everyday. If you have something serious going for you in Nigeria or you think earning 3000 dollars a month after tax here is better and after expenses you are left with just about 400 dollars, then make your choice. I work as a service technician in a tech company earning 24 cad per hour . I studied here, working full time now, monthly earnings supposed to be 3840 cad , after tax and some deductions like Ei , employment insurance incase of job loss, CPP , and other deductions, I am left with a little above 3100 cad. After expenses only about 400 dollars left . Car insurance here a month goes from between 150 to 300 dollars or even more. Rent $2400 add other bills.

I own houses back home with tenants before I came here , here if I fail to go to work a day I and my family will be kicked out of the apartment. The struggle we go through here isn’t worth it for us. We are not struggling before coming here. It all depends on your situation before leaving Nigeria. I have a thriving business in Nigeria, I thought I would be able to make a lot more money which was why I and my family made the move but was disappointed and sharing this with you is for you to either learn before making your own decisions but most Nigerians will never learn. We haven’t recovered a dime we spent coming here due to huge bills and was already thinking of moving to the US once we get what we are waiting for. It cost is roughly 55 million moving my family here and that was a great mistake we made and only hoping for the best now.

Bros, you are a low income earner. What you earn is even lower than what PSWs earn in Ontario cleaning yansh. So you want to use service technician job to build mansions? Or you expected that when you get to Canada they will make you their central bank governor?
You even have $400 after expenses, that's more than 400k naira ( 1cad = 1026 naira) as at today. Are you telling me that service technicians in Lagos doing the same job you are doing get up to 400k a month after expenses in Lagos? If you have built houses in Nigeria, then you didn't build it doing service technician work. I don't know why some of you think that once you land abroad, you become a millionaire and when it doesn't happen, you start ranting like somebody send you message.

Everybody will have different experiences based on several factors like location, occupation, work experience etc. I'm a citizen living in Ontario. I had to go back to school to pursue a career in an in demand field. Once I overcame the initial entry level struggle and got my first job and had some experience to showcase at interviews, boy o boy, every year has been better than the previous year. I have changed jobs 3 times in 5 years and anytime I move to another job, i draw at least 35% more money. So My brother, don't use your experience to paint everybody, yours is unique to you. Some will be high earners, some will be middle earners while some will be low income earners so there is no big deal about your experience

Anybody who has sense knows that Canada is not heaven and there are challenges except their intention is to become overnight millionaires once they land like you thought, in that case na dem sabi.

You are greedy. People who are doing okay in Nigeria that came here came due to other factors, money was not on top of their list cos I was in that category but you despite your houses and thriving businesses came with the mindset of making millions and now you are ranting so I don't have sympathy for people like you as you are one of the reasons Nigeria has become nonsense due to greedy people.

Why would you travel out with only #250! shocked shocked

That's less than N500k

My brother na so I see am. Whether he was saying the truth or lying, na him sabi. The reason why I believed him is that he couldn't afford to pay for his accommodation that came easily and relatively cheaper instead he was looking for free accommodation. He was also talking about help for his school fees. Definitely he came into the country very broke.

Please tell them..

Some think it's all about money. What about your mental health?
Is there work-life balance in the place you're planning to move to?. So many factors to consider before running away.

What I see among Nigerians is that we think we are resilient people. Yes, I agree we are resilient and have a survival spirit.

Some will say if they have survived in Nigeria against all odds they will survive anywhere. That is not completely true. There is a difference between relocating from your village to Lagos or Abuja without money and relocating from Nigeria to another country without money in the middle of a winter season where you don't have any family or close friend.
Putting hope on the Nigerian community to help when those people have their own immediate family and friends that needs their help is ridiculous.
Nigerians should stop pushing their luck to far in the name of being resilient.
If you can't relocate to another man's country as a permanent resident or don't have your full school fees and at least 6 months living expenses as a student then stay back in Nigeria.
I know some people will say I'm saying these things cos I'm privileged and what will poor people do? The question should be what will a poor person gain by manipulating his way and luck to get a visa and end up on the street and get deported at the end cos if you can't graduate from school, you will become illegal and get deported at the end. I hope Nigerians listen.

As someone that attends a Nigerian church in Canada, what my eyes have seen in the last one year is appalling. Some Nigerians are greedy and opportunists.

Early this month, a newcomer showed up in church, after service he said he is a student that just arrived and looking for accommodation. Luckily there was this lady that finished in December and just got a job in another city and she is relocating. This man was asked to pay and takeover the room while the lady help him to connect to the landlord. It turns out that this guy/man had no money. He said he only has $250. The accommodation he was looking at isn't paid accommodation but free accommodation. He also begged if the church can help pay his school fees. Chai, I felt like giving him a dirty slap but I just excused myself and walked away.

Why are Nigerians like this? Which kind of greedy attitude is this? You manipulated proof of fund and came into a new country with only $250 and looking for who to help.
I understand Nigeria is not smiling at the moment but if you don't have what is takes to travel successful then manage Nigeria, it is not a do or die. This greedy attitude has to stop.

I didn't see him in church today, maybe he has gone somewhere else to try his luck

Let me assume this is a true story.

The quick answer to your question is the the child is for your ex. Let me explain.

If we assume that you have a 28 day cycle which is normal for majority of women then your first day of your menstrual period which begins your cycle will be 13th and your ovulation which is mid cycle will be 26th plus or minus 1 day. The chances of pregnancy for a Male child for sex that happens on the 25th,26th, 27th or even 28th for a healthy couple without any reproductive issue is over 80%.

Since you had sex on 27th with your ex which is around your most fertile date and you had a boy, the probability of it being your ex is over 80%. For it to be a girl, the sex needed to have happened around 21st to 23rd plus or minus 1 day so that only the X chromosome will be guaranteed to be alive at the time of your ovulation to fertilize the egg. It is then safe to say all things being equal, your ex owns the child. You can do a DNA to confirm.

Yes, we have been nursing corrupt governments majorly in Africa, but how has America helped our economy apart from huge IMF loan bondage?

China via its Belt and Road initiative has done way more for Africa in a few years compared to the West in decades.

You are naive. After China development peaked and they were no longer building as before, smart Chinese started looking for a way to keep their construction conglomerate working. They found 3rd world countries where they show up as messiah to help them grow.

China gives you loan, use their own companies and manpower to execute the work then use the opportunity to extract your natural resources. At the end of the day, the money doesn't trickle down to the local economy cos 70% of the money they loaned you goes back into China for their own benefit yet you are still owing massively. You gain only shiny projects that can't even generate enough money to pay back the loan.

Current examples of the Chinese debt trap mess can be felt in Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Zambia etc. Some of these countries are now turning to the same IMF for help after China refused to restructure their debt or cancel it.

If China was there to help Africa, why can't China help Nigeria fix her power problem knowing fully well that is the major thing that would accelerate Nigeria industrialization? They won't near there because an industrialized Nigeria will be a threat to China manufacturing as companies would be incentivized to use Nigeria as their manufacturing hub. Like the west, China is looking out for their own interest not yours.

I expect you to relocate to the likes of Russia, China,Yemen etc to enjoy their values after all they have better values.
By the way, don't bother responding cos I won't reply. I'm out

This is not about Hamas. This is about protecting Palestinian lives whom the majority are innocent yet get killed senselessly.

Millions of people have protested globally over 15 countries and about 3 different major protests in the US & UK, are they all "Pro-Hamas"?

Is the 'Western value' about supporting the killing of Innocent helpless folks rather than finding a lasting diplomatic solution to the lingering 70-year-old issue as they are the originator of this crisis?

So because you want to live in King Charles' Boulevard, you want to shy away from the truth to avoid your visa being revoked grin cheesy grin (Black man and shackle mindset; yet living in the 'supposed' land of the free and absolute human right)

Talking about protecting innocent lives that's good. Show me where you have protested the killings and displacement of people in the middle belt of Nigeria by fulani herdsmen. Where is your outrage for the ones happening in your own backyard? Or their lives don't matter to you? Unlike Hamas, the people of middle belt did not attack anyone yet they are being massacred and displaced in their ancestral home and you are here spewing nonsense.

The Houthis have only been attacking Ships going to Isreal via the Red Sea (Yemeni Coastline) alone especially the ones carrying American/Brits weapons to Kill the majority of innocent civilians. The American/Brits/Indian/Canada/Australian govt (not the people) across the continent can boldly support the Israeli zionist government, but the Yemenis/Iran who care closers can't! WHY?

Who makes the Brits/merica the international police along the Red Sea!

The Palestinian occupation has been on since 75 years ago when the Brits decided to relocate the Jews facing genocide from Germany, so If Palestinians continue to decide to defend the illegal occupation of their land, so it doesn't start on October 7th that the Western media portray or you are just following the news.

October 7th happened, then what, killed an entire generation of people the majority are women and children, and destroyed their homes, hospitals, schools, and religious centres (both Church & Mosque) with hundreds of years of history and affiliation and you can easily justify that! (What a pathetic soul)!

The appalling thing is that fewer Hamas members have been killed compared to the number of innocent Women/Children/civilians/Journalists that have been killed.

Just so you also know, Hamas was once funded by the Israeli govt to attack the legitimate Palestinian Govt. of Yasir Arafat. Hamas later turned on them when Arafat was no more!

Imagine the FG of Nigeria decided to level the entire SE with the people to ashes with British bomb because IPOB/ESN decided to bomb the crude oil Pipeline in Port Harcourt as that is exactly what you are justifying here boldly!

By the way, Russia was defending the ethnic Russians in Ukraine (Dombas Region - The conflict split the Donbas into Ukrainian-held territory, constituting about two-thirds of the region, and separatist-held territory, constituting about one-third. The region remained this way for years until Russia launched a full-scale defence of the people) who have been facing prosecution since 2014 while most of you are unaware.
Then Ukraine decided to bring American forces under the disguise of NATO to the Russian backyard! Who in the right sense of self-preservation will allow that?

America refused a Russian military base in Cuba but wanted to have one in the Russian backyard (Why should Russia agree for anybody).

I hope you are writing this trash from Moscow.

If IPOB leaves the SE and cross over to the SW or North and kill over 1200 innocent people of the SW and take over 300 people of them and camp them in the SE as hostages and the people of the SE did not demonstrate immediately and pour into the street to denounce and condemn that act and demand the immediate release of those hostages, then any action taken by the FG on them will receive less sympathy from the public. Will Nigeria do nothing if a neighboring country enters the country, massacre up to a 1200 people and abduct over 300 Nigerians?

There is no justification for using terrorism to achieve a political aim or settle problems. Isreal Palestinian problems cannot be solved through terrorism. If you justify the event of Oct 7th then don't cry over the repercussions

You justified Russia bombardment of Ukraine as legitimate even though Ukraine never attacked Russia despite Russia annexing Crimea since 2014. The same way Gaza is being bombarded, is the same way Ukrainian cities are being bombarded by Russia. There is no justification for Russia to destroy Ukraine yet you support it but cry over Isreal that was attacked by terrorists, what a hypocrisy.

If you like keep supporting terrorists because you hate the west, that one na your business. If houti terrorist like, they should not think about their civilians and initiate a war they can't win after all they have people like you who will defend them as victims. After all, they have been at war with Saudi led Arab coalition since 2015 that has killed over 300,000 Yemenis so it looks like they don't care anymore.

By the way, the US has been in Russia doorsteps since 2004. Norway,Estonia and Latvia are bordering Russia and are members of NATO since 2004 yet they US or NATO hasn't attacked Russia since then. Finland bothers Russia and has now joined NATO. Russia does not fear NATO militarily cos NATO will never attack Russia unprovoked and they know it. The only thing Russia fears about NATO is that it is loosing her ability to bully her neighbors. The only countries Russia can bully now is Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, Azerbaijan and Maldova. If Ukraine joins NATO, the list reduces. For a country that sees itself as equal to the US, it is a big blow to them. Unfortunately, Russia doesn't have anything to offer to any reasonable person, this is why her neighbors are looking west. There is nothing to gain from a country that uses poison or mysterious death to settle scores. While people in the west can hold their government accountable and can remove them from power when neccessary, Russians unfortunately don't have that priviledge and you are here talking nonsense.
