According to a report by Daily Trust on March 26, the Rivers State Police Command has apprehended four individuals, including a traditional healer and a young girl, who are alleged to be connected to the ritualistic slaying of two 7-year-old siblings, Chizaram Onuche and Chidinma Onuche.

This tragic event occurred in the Ogbodo Pipeline area of Rukpokwu within the Obio-Akpor Local Government Area (LGA). SP Grace Iringe-Koko, the police spokesperson for the state, stated in a press release on Wednesday that, after receiving a report from the Special Area Division, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit acted quickly to apprehend the suspects.

The individuals taken into custody, as detailed by Koko, include Aniekan Sunday Uko, Luis John Uwelemele, Kingsley Opurum, and Friday Silas. Uko, 27, as per information from Linda Ojims, an attorney assisting in the police inquiry, is alleged to have enticed the children to a different location, drugged them, and subsequently murdered them, draining their blood in the process.

She said, “The children were coming back from church. So along the line, the suspect took them to an uncompleted building. He then induced the drink he gave to them. The children slept, he raped and murdered them.

“Law enforcement officials visited the scene of the crime and recovered additional exhibits. The following items were retrieved: a kitchen knife identified as the murder weapon, a bottle filled with the victims’ blood, scooped by the suspect, an empty can of Black Bullet, used to drug the victims before the act, and a spoon, used to collect the victims’ blood.”

According to the police spokesperson, during questioning, Uko admitted that he became embroiled in the ritual killing after visiting the native doctor, where he observed similar rituals being performed for others seeking wealth.
