There are 18 to 21 year old Waec holders with more tech skills than Masters and PhD holders, and more attractive to proper employers too!

Matter of fact, every successful and balling virtual freelancer will tell you no foreign boss is interested in your education other than your ability to communicate with him effectively in good grammar and what skills relevant to his project you possess!


In case you don't yet know, let me tell you in no uncertain terms....

We are no longer in the age of academic qualifications! We are now in the age of Skill Acquisition!

A University degree is purely academic and serves only as a decoration for your brain and walls.

Nope, not true! The thing is that even in tech, there are different cadres. You need an entry level person to be trainable and smart enough to accomplish tasks. Way up the ladder, they require less technical skills to function well. They need to be visionaries and good decision makers.

It is a big fallacy comparing tech-savvy new senior secondary school leavers with people who have MSc or PhDs. Are those people with the advanced degrees in tech themselves? Do you expect someone with a PhD in social sciences to be able to code? Advanced degrees are to train the mind to be better at thinking, problem-solving and writing. It is not a decoration!

Remove the peel from your eyes, so you understand much better. Ukraine became a play field where they allowed different parties to fight each other. Completely deceived by the west to take on their big brother in a war they cannot win. Who has Ukraine at heart more than Russia? You think Russia would really want countries in their region not to thrive well?

And to digress a bit, many countries of the world followed similar patterns. The west brings war to them. They become the war theater. And different powerful nations support different factions. They go as far as providing arms and ammunition to the worst organisations, if it suits their agenda.

You asked if the world has been peaceful before the west invasion...well, all forms of invasion in the last decades were concocted by the west. The wars were as a result of pure greed. They invade places just to plunder their resources. They end up killing several thousands, including women and children too.

And in the wars you might want to cite, kindly read about it well, so you get the big picture and not what the media wants you to see.

For us to understand why the war prolonged and didn't end in the first 74 hours proposed by the western intelligence, we need to look at these few points;

1) Putin declare a "special military operation " and NOT WAR in Ukraine.. there Russian parliament passes a resolution for international special mission and not a war act, therefore the scope of operations and engagement is limited (believe me Russia has not even broke their military Depot).

2) the western countries were expecting Russia to flattened Ukraine with state of the art explosion and maybe tactical small nuclear weapons... But Russia so far has been strategic in their target, targeting military installations and residential buildings used by Ukrainian army as cover up.

3) Ukrainian army are resolute in their resistance, they also share the same military training as Russians as they were former part of Soviet Union military set, so they understand Russia military drills and the west are also feeding them with valuable Intel's.

4) the weapons used by Ukrainian to resist Russia are sourced from all over the world, therefore giving them undue advantage weapon wise.

5) Russia and Ukraine are the same blood brothers, there are some brutal things that Russia would have done, but they can't do it because they share the same blood ancestry with Ukraine... I will call this fight a brotherly fight. Honestly Russia is using less military engagement in Ukraine, and trying to see weather zelenskyy will get sense and agree to their demand, there is nothing stopping Russia from bombarding and flattening Ukraine, but they out of love don't want to do it.

Finally, Russia is using this war to negotiate and not necessarily to destroy Ukraine as the western media portrayed........ No body understand the mind of Putin because he doesn't talk much, Putin is a great listener, that is why he understands the minds of Western leaders because they all talk too much, he understands the importance of timing, the role of war and peace..... This war is not by accident, Putin has planned it for a very long time with plan A, B, C, D etc, he has possibly plan for a nuclear escalation invade NATO want to act foolish.

So I have been following this topic since yesterday.

I must say that guys should stop 'carrying this topic on top their head'.

I'm of the opinion that everyone is entitled to live his/her life. I guess that's one thing I like about westerners; they mind their businesses and don't poke nose into other people's affairs.

Also, I am attracted to only matured and career oriented ladies; they are less drama. I wouldn't even date a lady that's is still struggling with school. I think they should concentrate and not be disturbed.

For your exams,

The TOEFL exam has 4 parts; Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing.

You can read about the modalities of the parts on ets website.

Concerning materials,

Don't waste your money paying someone to send you materials and be careful with the ones you get.

It is not productive having tonnes of materials when preparing for the exams.

Notefull videos will prepare you well for the 4 parts especially reading and Listening.

For listening,
You can get some listening test on YouTube with answers. Use the search term "TOEFL listening tests"


Speaking,
Get a friend who speaks good English (not all these formed phonetics)
Good English includes correct pronunciation of words and good accent.
Let your friend be familiar with the speaking question types and practice together.

For Writing,
Barron TOEFL writing is Bae! Just go through the book and you'll be all fine

The people who have responded so far seem not to know much or how it is done in Nigeria. My dear, you'll get TOEFL for as low as 40k in Nigeria if you register with myinternationalexams, 45k if you register with b.y Mafit.

And about the possibility of being successful? Well, only the speaking part proves difficult for me since most schools require at least 26 to get a TA.

In general, aim at above 100 and please check the requirements of the schools you plan applying to.

I'm no fanatic but I surely know you are 'not aware' of the the way these things work. When you are looking for a scholarship, you just have to keep your options open. Some come with specifics. It might be listed the funding is for a particular programme, a particular degree or something else.
Secondly, it will sure be easier to get a funded PhD with a masters from Cambridge than one from Nigeria.

You see Nigerians been through with school at 19, 20 especially people who go for 4year courses. It's really nothing big. Federal universities are the cheapest. I finished from one. If you know you are not from a wealthy family, you try to get into one and you'll be fine. We hustle! Although, the system of admission hasn't been that fair again. But then, all will be fine
