Instead of bickering back and forth about what happened on the night I think I would have been better to pass a motion for the the total reformation of the arms policy of the Nigerian police by stopping the arbitary issuance of very powerful assault rifles as the primary weapon of the police, the situation which we have now where any policeman is just issued an AK47 rifle to carry simple civil police duties like crowd control, traffic control , vehicle registration checks is very wrong and must be stopped ...The police must have a special weapons and tactics unit who shall be the sole bearers of power weapons and be called out only when there is a threat that requires the use of such powerful tactical weapons .
