The answer isnt far from the fact that, the poor man born as many as possible because he believes out of 8 children, one will surely be successful and his success will one way or the other elevate all or some of the other childrens.

Dont say, the poor man wife doesnt know about family planning or ways of preventing pregnancy when it comes to sex. The poor man wife knows, but they keep giving birth to as much as possible with the mindset '''olorun lon wo omo were'' meaning 'its God that looks after the kid of a mad woman''

so, they have money to fend for the kids or not, the kids will surely survive one way or the other.

Let me round it up with an experience i had when i went to visit a friend.

There's a woman that lived in that house then, she came to squat with her husband sister cos they're sent parking from their home due to house rent debt.
The woman husband is an okada rider. They've 9 children. I say 9 children.. These children are still very small.. Every morning, whenever, this woman is bathing for these kids one after the other, i just marvelled why someone will deliberating be bringing such sufferness upon herself.

I said ''deliberate sufferness'' cos i later got to witness a misunderstanding btw the woman and her husband sister and her husband sister was complaining that if the woman wont respect his son in her house. She'ld be sent parking cos she cant watch her talk to her son anyhow, afterall she warned her several times when she was nursing the third born and also adviced her on several ways to prevent unwanted pregnancy that surely works.

The husband sister said, when this woman was even nursing the 7th born, the money the husband makes daily from okada wasnt able to feed the family cos those children eats like vampire.

Lastly, where i got to know that, its the mindset of ''even if they're 20, one or most of them will surely be successful and her sufferness will be no more'' was most times whenever she's bathing these kids, that's what she always say..

I later had to ask myself how these kids will be successful when they dont go to school.. I now looked at our NURTW commercial bus garrage chairmen and realised education is no more a yardstick to being successful.
