Pls someone needs an advice. I have a valid visitor's visa and my wife's immediate brother is in canada as a Permanent Residence. Having applied for authorization to unite with him, IRCC sent a message to fill a form IMM 0006 [Statutory declaration] and sign by a lawyer to declare my relationship with my brother in law. The form could not be completed by him because there is no space that fits our relationship. Spouse's sibling is there, but sibling spouse isn't there. I am confused on what to do next. My visa expires in less than two months! Can I risk traveling without authorization letter?

How does it work please explain. Akby: It is very possible. It is called "Permanent Resident Nomination". If the person in Canada is your direct sibling or cousin, it is 100% legal and guaranteed. If otherwise, I can't really say much |

elnino2015: Good morning house,
Please I need you guys to help me clarify something.
Do you US schools accept certified true copies of transcripts from notary public? I have an original copy of my transcript but cannot send that to them and even if I go to apply for another transcript from my school, what they will give me will still be photocopy, stamped and signed by our deputy registrar.
And I need to send my transcript ASAP. It depends on the school you apply to, some schools accept scan copy while some accept original copy send directly from your undergraduate institution, therefore you will have to contact the school to know the one they accept. |

SophiaLisa: Good Day All,
On Tuesday morning, was at the Lagos Consulate for my F1 interview (Sorry for the late post).
Please view my transcript below; VO: Please come forward. SL: Good morning. VO: (no response; He must have been cranky). *Flips through my passport*. So you have a running B1/B2 Visa SL: Yes. VO: So why do you want to study an MBA .... SL: No, not an MBA. Its a Mastes degree. VO: I'm sorry, why do you want to go for a Masters in Project Management? SL: *Gave him my story, linking it with my being an Investment Banker*. When I was done, I said, and here's a letter of introduction from my company. VO: Without looking up, he kept typing but said "Never mind". VO: So, have you paid the SEVIS fee?. SL: Yes I have. It's right there (pointed at the paper in front of him which he clearly missed out). VO: (Keeps typing and typing and typing). VO: Your visa has been approved, pick it up in three business days. Also, make sure you don't present the B1/B2 visa at the POE so it doesn't raise any issues. SL: Thank you very much. SL: So the B1/B2 visa is still valid? VO: Yes it is.
I thanked him again and left!
Thanks to God, everyone that prayed with me as well as the Special tips from AKO1, KennyRonny, Meritdee.
Tuesday was just miraculous because before me, they had only approved a visa for 1 woman and her daughter (an Indian). Every other person had a blue paper (denial). In fact, the three F1 applicants ahead of me were rejected out-rightly. I remember praying as I walked before the VO. God is faithful and kind.
Next off, who lives in New York here oooooo. Looking to share an apartment. Congratulations dear.... Welcome to America |

SophiaLisa: Thanks alot.
I'd take out those points.
However, should I state where I'd be stayine i.e off campus? or should I just mention that. Good! You can state where you will be staying of campus. It can give the VO good impression that you know where you are going and you already make ur research. |

SophiaLisa: Good Morning Everyone!
God bless you all and Happy New Year.
So, I have an F1 Visa interview on the 12th and trust me I am nervous to say the least. There is so much to read but so little time. So I beg you all to please assist me with feedback and clarifications. Abeg.
US Visits - I have an existing B1/B2 Visa which I got in August 2014. I traveled with it to the States in September 2014 and I came back in October 2014. Foreign Trips - I have made multiple trips to UK, Dubai, Gambia. Came back in due time as well. Sponsorship - I intend to fund my studies through my savings, on-campus jobs. Admission - I got admitted into New York University for a Masters Degree in Project Management (Spring 2016). Classes starts on January 25, 2016. Documents - I have my I-20 form, SEVIS fee document, Statements, Car document. Employment - Currently employed in an Investment Bank. Relatives in US - Aunty in Texas, Residence in US while studying - Staying with a friend at Queen's NY.
So, guys, that's about it.
Please share your views on what I need to do, prepare for or look out for. Biko!
God bless you all!!!! You have a good travelling history, but try and ignore the bolded. words. Never you tell the VO you will fund your studies through on-campus job, cos that's not a good response, as the money you will be earning through campus job can or might only cater for your accommodation and feeding. Secondly Car Document is not a genuine document to present at the embassy, as that can't be a source of income for you when you are away. car is not an asset, it a liability. and lastly .Telling the VO you will be staying with a friend might not be the best answer. You are a Graduate student, why not tell him/her you will be staying off campus or in school apartment. Telling the VO you will be staying with a friend might look as if you are not capable or financially buoyant. I wish you all the best. |

meritdee: I've been getting conflicting answers online concerning this question so I decided to ask the people that was there for me all through.
If at the POE I was asked the length of my stay in US. What do I say?
Mind you, my program is 36months(3yrs) as stated in my I-20 and my VISA is valid for 2years.
Thanks The year of visa issue to you is not your length of study. You have to tell them wat is written on ur I-20 |
