See, your analysis and defence is only good for Nigeria. I've used ATMs in so many countries and once I have issues, they sort it out within 48hours max. There was a time I reported fraudulent transaction on my HSBC. I was only giving a form to fill and sign to confirm I know nothing about the transaction. The very first thing they did the following day was to credit me back and send me a letter that they are carrying out investigation.

My boss made a transfer of 40k to someone, he got debited and the transaction wasn't a success. He went to the bank and make a complaint and series of excuses was given to him, after 3 weeks of going to the bank with nothing to tell about, he finally let go of the 40k and accepted his fate.

On a faithful day, after 3months, a message pop in to his phone screen and it was a reversal message of his 40k back in to his acct.....Till date, i don't know why it took the bank a whole 3 months to figure that issue out but what i was so surprised about was the fact on how the bank reversed his 40k back after 3 good months, about 90days.....

Somethings are not as you people see it at all. It is always easy for one to stay on his lane and decipher, analyse and conclude what happens on another lane.

The case you presented above can happen easily, but under normal circumstance, it shouldn't take that long. Sometimes it takes longer.

These transfers customers do, passes through multiple channels of debits and credits automatically before it gets to the ultimate beneficiary.

In between this source and beneficiary, source bank and destination bank, there are always companies in between through which these entries pass through.

If bank X moves money to bank Y, the money will pass through company Z and its settlements accounts before it gets to bank Y.
If any of these institution automatic process fails, the above can occur. At what point it fails determines if the reversal can be automatic/immediate, same day or manually reversed or manually credited.

Where the bankers have problem is, if the intermediary company aarevwith the funds and refuses to response, or reconcile the account, what you can do is just but tobsend mails and call if you have anyone's number. If it is within the source bank, it is very easy. But if it is with the beneficiary bank, they can manually return the money or manually credit it into the beneficiary's account.

Just that your bank is standing for you to see that this thing is done, it may not actually be thier fault but they need to protect their customers.

In all, I will advice, lets all seek clarity before we speak, especially speak ill against anyone, for God will bring to judgement every idle word.

What it involve is to check the e-journal and confirm from the machine if it dispensed the cash or not.
If the machine reading is in dispute, cash count, balancing and reconciliation will be done. This is where it takes time/days.
