[Police Extortion in Lagos

Dear moderator, friends and members of Nairaland family, I feel bad everyday going back from work in a tight traffic jam only to find out that Men of Nigeria police force, blocked road on a busy road extorting money from motorist. A journey that normally should not take one hour now takes about three hours because of the delay associated with this illegal work every evening. They take advantage also of the poor condition of the road to extort money I would like to share the particular area where this is happening so that our good friends and journalists in the house can investigate and then help us to bring this suffering to an end. For those in Lagos, that knows Ejigbo. From Ajoa Estate to Ejigbo through "Canoe", just at Canoe junction, the police officers from Ejigbo police station on daily basis keep adding to the suffering of the masses who use this particular road. For clarity seek, I would like to repeat that those police officers abandoned the good work we know our Nigeria police officers for to be extorting money and causing traffic on the road. They are shameless in their actions by their behavior carrying out this illegal work. I will buy a spy camera. And I will carefully make a video and share a short video between now and weekend.

Please, if you are also experiencing this police extortion on your route do share your experience and the particular area in Lagos. Nigerians are already in an extreme economic hardship, most middle class have joined the poverty line. I'm appealing to the Good leadership in the Nigeria police in Lagos to investigate and bring the bad eggs to justice.

Thank you.

RomanceRe: I Am Confused In Choosing A Wife Partner by kevinugwu(m): 1:40am On Feb 21, 2023
My opinion:

1. I think you should use the word "Like" for now on any of the ladies while you put the 'Love' on one side first.

2. After then, ask yourself what other qualities which they individually have that are attracted to you.

3. Who do you think will give you support. Every man needs support no matter how rich you are. If you are ready, pls do this immediately and take decision. Who can support your dreams?

4. Pls be careful with beauty. You can be lucky like me who got a beautiful woman with excellent character. However, the beauty will some days fade off leaving only the character. So, pls allocate more mark for character. How is their character?

5. Don't be confused. After looking critically to those points, I am sure you would make the best decision. Go for your heart. Remember you have to be a nice guy. Marriage is not child's play.

6. I so much love marriage because it's a place for Christ. "FORGIVENESS" PATIENT, AND TOLERANCE.

All the best

My dear, you may have to rethink this position. Or maybe ask your parents. You maybe shocked that your grandparents married mother for father.. yet the were joined together until "death do them apart".
PoliticsRe: Obi, Kwankwaso Can’t Win, We’re Backing Atiku – Dogara, Others by kevinugwu(m): 10:08am On Dec 03, 2022
So unfortunate that this north central friends are not seeing the 'writing on the wall'. Nigeria as of today has not benefited 90% of Nigerians since 1960.

We can't be doing the same over and over and expect different result. No way!

The shifting time is now as the opportunity present itself. No president of Nigeria from 2023 can repair the damage done already to Nigeria, but we can path progressive way while winning on low hanging fruits.

At least it is immediately possible to hold leaders accountable at all levels. It is leadership. It is within our reach also to have food sufficiency. Look at the arable land all over. It is leadership. Nigeria should not have business in fuel/energy subsidy and importation Crisis. It is leadership. Let us elect leaders that have the passion for wellbeing of people. People development rather than money bags.

Dogara is already among the 10% that this current situation of Nigeria has benefited. We need people that can sacrifice for others. Normally I don't have problem with your choice of support. By the grace and providence, we shall review how we are progressing among nations with similar countries with natural resources like ours.

Suffering has a way of changing a "Man's" decision. But let us not wait till we suffer. Let us look beyond rhetorics
PoliticsRe: Photos Of Weapons From Neutralized Boko Haram Members By Nigeria Army by kevinugwu(m): 9:06am On Dec 03, 2022
This is a welcome development. Kudos to our gallant army for this. But we are expecting you to also give us and the world information on where these killer weapon came from. That is how it works.

Just like the recent happening between Russia and Ukraine. Where source of weapons from other countries where used against Ukraine by Russian. This will help to weaken the insurgent.

Anything short of this is playing to the gallery, ineffective intelligence and counterproductive measure.

Soon and very soon this arms saga will reach all that served in the last government. If that comes to reality, then APC & PMB May not be free after all. And go back to doing same thing as usual.

To me that is not the issue. Nation fight against nation is a biblical prophecy. No body can stop it. All this violence here and there are end time sign for the children of Israel. Jesus is coming soon. Don't 4get that it will not come near His people. May God help us

Shiite Muslims have really suffered in the hands of
Sunni Muslims. Boko haram is against them, ISIS is
against them, Nigerian army is against them. I
don't know why most Muslims are intolerant. Shiite
is the most peaceful sect of Muslims. Just that
Sunni detest most of their rituals and traditions like
honouring the death, cursing Aisha and others. But
then Christianity have many divisions who have
contradicting belief and yet are tolerant of each
other. If I wanted to be a Muslim, I will go for the
Shiite cos they are very peaceful. Boko haram is
Sunni, ISIS - Sunni, all other Islamic militant group
are Sunni too. Because the shiite Muslims are minority doesn't mean they should be wiped out. We should protect our minorities. This is too bad of the Nigerian army.

PhonesRe: We Nigerians Are Unfair To MTN by kevinugwu(m): 8:33am On Oct 31, 2015
@op, ur defence of the lawless act of MTN is not acceptable my me. The only thing it reminds me is to call their customers care before the will leave if the contemplate it at all. Last Monday the charged N5 on a 1 sec call duration I made. So Mtn lawyer, that was a mistake for sure! If you think mtn has done u a lot good which is right, u have done a lot more good to them. Its not even symbiosis at all. My only advice to them is to upgrade to the change mantra we are in. Defaulters will not go free. Thanks.
PoliticsRe: 1985 Coup: How I Led Soldiers To Pick Up Buhari – Col. A. Aminu (rtd) by kevinugwu(m): 8:00am On Aug 09, 2015
Non of these past military leaders seen to understand that the economic situation we find ourself today could be traced to the scope of vision they exhibited. This could led one to a conclusion that economic policies were just formulated on basis of regional favoritism and myopic understanding. However, we got what we wanted. But perhaps we are already moving out of regional sentiments to some extent if this Federal government led APC continues in more informative and realistic approaches that will have the common man at heart. Long live Nigeria. May God help us.

PoliticsNigeria Communication Commission Save Us From This Extortion Under Your Watch by kevinugwu(op): 9:39pm On Jan 24, 2015
NIGERIA COMMUNICATION COMMISSION SAVE US FROM THIS EXTORTION UNDER YOUR WATCH

Nigerians are being short changed by network providers on daily basis on checked by the vary body established to do so. The Nigeria communication commission NCC is not living up to its objective, application and scope as stated in its act. “The primary object of this Act is to create and provide a regulatory framework for the Nigerian communications industry and all matters related thereto and for that purpose and without detracting from the generality of the foregoing, specifically to…….”(Chapter 1 of the act). http://www.nigeria-law.org/Nigerian%20Communications%20Commission%20Act%202003.htm

The inability to effectively monitor licensed telecommunication services, even in other industries in Nigeria contributes to the decrease in value or worth of naira as a currency. Nigerians pay so much for no service delivery, very poor services and hidden chargers. It has left Nigerians to be extorted by telecommunication services providers endlessly.

This is one of so many good complaints concerned Nigerians have raised to NCC. These providers do not keep to their chargers per second. The cost of calls and megabytes (mb) in Nigeria are so high when compared to many other Africa countries. Recently, a friend picked a call from “33592” and on discovering that it was MTN network, he decided to hang up. He suddenly got a message “Y’ello, your product HAIR CARE is activated/scheduled to be activated and N50.00 is deducted from your account. The next rental collection is 2015-01-27. To cancel the subscription, send STOP HC to 33592.”

He quickly put a call across to MTN 180 customer care and reported the case. He was surprisingly told that by picking the call that he automatically subscribes. After little argument from the victim, he asked helplessly, “How can I cancel your automatic subscription” and the agent told him that it’s already done. Shortly a message on cancellation came. They are all guilty in one way or the other.

Like I earlier stated, these fraud has been on for long. One thing I respect about many agencies in Nigeria is about the extent of coverage of Acts establishing them. Their acts may not be the best in the world but it’s enough to solve the basic problems we are facing. But corruption makes basic problems difficult to solve.

Nigerians are lawfully waiting for NCC to step up and moderate the excesses of the service providers. We are tied of unsolicited text messages, unsolicited calls, hidden chargers, poor and inadequate services, (voice and internet services), illegal wiretapping and so many more.
Thank you.
