God sent his messengers to all people with different tribes, nations, languages, etc God sent Abraham to his people with their language; God sent Moses to his people with their language, God sent Jesus Christ to his people with their language that was the reason he said in Matthew 15:24; He answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel." Also God sent the last Prophet Muhammad (saw) from Arabian country which their language is Arabic. In the bible god has promised that he would raise the people who will serve God with one language; Zephaniah 3:9; For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the Lord, to serve him with one consent. So, Arabic Language is the language of the last prophet whom God sent to all mankind. In Arabian peninsular there are Christians, jews, etc. If they want to translate the name of their God to Arabic language, they would call it Allah bcoz Allah is the language for Arabian people. Go and find Arabic Bible, what you will is Allah in the bible which translate to God. Also, the word "muslim" is an Arabic language which translate to "one who submitted to God" Moses was a Muslim mean Moses was submitted to God; Jesus was a Muslim mean Jesus was submitted to God. The state is said to have issued a directive for the agencies to meet a minimum of N5 million monthly revenue target to each of them including the Vehicle Inspectorates Office (VIO), the Lagos Transport Management Agency (LASTMA) and the Kick Against Indiscipline (KIA). Ripples Nigeria learnt that not meeting the target attracts sanctions to the affected agency, including non promotion and denial of other incentives. To that effect, a new payment system for monitoring fines slammed on defaulting members of the public, has been introduced. The device said to have been installed in the Ministry of Transportation is now to be co monitored by the Governor’s office, Alausa, via a special server. It was furthered gathered that there is a sophisticated real-time device which captures every ticket and its cash value as soon as it is issued to a defaulting road user. But many motorists said the approach has seen them doing all things possible to avert the high handedness in issuing tickets to them as it is now based on the revenue drive of the state. A motorist narrated how he was slammed with about N80, 000 by the VIO for an offence, which ordinarily would have attracted, at worst a caution. The victim who pleaded for anonymity said: “I’m was a victim of high handedness by government officials on March 8, 2017. “I am into haulage business, and was driving from Apapa through Mile 2 on that fateful Wednesday March 8 2017. But unknown to me the Lagos State government has changed its approach to checking vehicle. It is now similar to the FRSC. “The VIOs flagged me down at Mile 2 Oshodi axis and demanded for all my vehicle papers, and I presented them. “But they asked me to go and see their boss in a stationary van nearby, little did I know that I was going to face a mobile magistrate court, which after attending to others called my case up and read charges against me. “They only said that one of my back tyres was a fairly used one ((Tokunbo) and that I did not repaint my vehicle, at the end, they slammed me with a total fine of N80, 000. “That was how they impounded my vehicle to their depot after issuing me a ticket, with the warning that failure to pay the fine would see me accumulate a N2,000 daily demurrage. But with an appeal through the Governor’s office, the fine came down to N70,000.” Another victim of the new found approach of raking in money into the coffers of the state government, a lady who gave her name as Ms Sarah Amiko, a sales representative with an international electronic company, said she was accosted by LASTMA officials at the AfricBank Street junction by Idowu Taylor, Victoria Island for illegal parking. Her number plate was removed and a fine of N50,000 later slammed on her. She was equally compelled to go to the Governor’s Office to appeal against the fine and it came down to N40,000. It is said that the mobile ticketing device with each patrol team is electronically connected with a server at the governor’s office which monitors and calculates the volume of ticketing made in favour of a team. At the governor’s office on Friday, vehicle owners, already booked were seen awaiting the official in charge to possibly reduce the fines slammed on them. When approached, a lady at the office retorted: ”What is wrong in giving government organisations target to meet by way of justifying the huge wages that they draw on government revenue. “The system is corruption- free, and given the population and the ease with which amenities, such as roads, bridges and others are worn out by the increasing population of the state, giving the agencies target is a matter of necessity,” she said. LASG defends VIS director, insists motorist burned vehicle The Lagos State Government has defended the Director of the Vehicle Inspection Service, Gbolahan Toriola, over allegations that he assaulted a motorist, Oluwadamilare Afolarin, and ordered his detention in a police cell for three days. The state Director of Public Affairs, Ministry of Transportation, Biola Fagunwa, said Oluwadamilare burned his own vehicle on the agency’s premises, adding that his footprints were visible at the scene. He added that the victim’s family told the government while begging for his release from detention that he was mentally unstable. The family, however, denied the claim. PUNCH Metro had reported that Oluwadamilare’s car was impounded at the Ilaje, Ajah area of Lagos State, after he was alleged to be driving a car with a cracked windscreen. He was billed N80,000 on the grounds that he also did not have any vehicle particulars, though the victim presented a vehicle registration document. Two weeks after the car was impounded, Oluwadamilare said he was about paying the fine into the government coffers when he was asked to proceed to the Ojodu Berger office of the agency. There, he was told by an official, Akeem, that the car was burnt. Akeem, who is the deputy head of the VIS, Eti-Osa, was said to have offered Oluwadamilare N200,000, which the latter turned down. The VIS official then took him to the director’s office at Alausa. After Akeem had a closed-door meeting with the VIS director, Toriola, the victim was said to have been invited into the office and accused of burning the car. The director was alleged to have slapped Oluwadamilare and ordered the seizure of his shoes and phone, saying his footprints were seen at the scene. The 42-year-old was then driven to the Ogombo Police Division, where he was detained for three days before he was released after being allegedly forced to sign an undertaking not to report the case on the social media or to the press. However, the Director of Public Affairs of the ministry of transportation, Fagunwa, said the government had no hand in the victim’s ordeal. He said, “The said car, belonging to Mr. Afolarin Oluwadamilare, is not a Honda Accord but an old Rover Saloon car and it was impounded on June 29, 2016. “The vehicle had a shattered windscreen, no functional headlights, worn-out tyres, no valid Ministry of Transportation Road Worthiness certificate and no valid insurance. All of these attracted a total fine of N80,000, and he was issued ticket no. 0240330. “In line with his rights under the law, he visited the VIS yard, removed valuables from the vehicle, and took pictures. Among the valuables were the battery of the car, his tools, cylinder, and other useful items. This was on July 8, 2016. “The explosion occurred on July 9, 2016, at about 11.30pm. The case was immediately reported at the Ogombo Police Station. “During investigations by the police, the owner of the vehicle was fingered. The footprints found matched the shoes he wore on the day he was accosted. “After the incident, we commenced a tracing of the man through our database. However, he did not sleep at home, but in a hotel close to our premises. This we found suspicious. “Based on the above, the police remanded him. Family members showed up to seek his release. They pleaded that he was mentally unstable. On compassionate grounds, he was allowed to sign an undertaking absolving the VIS of any complicity in the arson.” He claimed that the VIS director did not assault Oluwadamilare because Toriola was a “perfect gentleman, whose mien and disposition cannot be violent.” The victim, Oluwadamilare, in his reaction, said the VIS lied against him to cover up their misdeeds. He noted that he only took his tools from the car in the presence of the VIS officials. “How can I burn my own means of livelihood? I never took more than my tools. They forced me to write an undertaking not to inform the press. These lies are unfounded,” he added. His father, Ogunbolujo, said he paid a visit to the VIS office at Ikeja only once, adding that Toriola was not around. “The VIS officers we met told us to be patient that they would talk to their boss and the government would buy my son another car to replace the burnt one. They acknowledged that the car got burnt in their custody. I can’t believe they are saying my son has mental problem. When did we say that? God forbid,” he added. The victim’s sister, Taiwo Ogunyemi, described the ministry’s claim as “wicked”. She said, “We got a human rights activist to follow us to the VIS office at Alausa and they promised to get back to us. That was last year. We couldn’t see their director. Because of the car they burnt, Oluwadamilare’s three children have been withdrawn from school. One of them is managing with me. My brother is suffering. They are wicked and evil people.” The manager of the hotel where Oluwadamilare allegedly stayedat the time of the incident, Kingsley Ogbuehi, told PUNCH Metro that the victim painted the hotel in 2013 when it was constructed. [BREAKING] Customs impounds 13 vehicles belonging to senator The Comptroller-General of Customs, Compliance Task Force, says it has impounded 223 vehicles, 13 of which belong to a senator in Kano State. The task force also said it seized other items, including foodstuff worth N269.5m in Kano and Jigawa states within eight months. The Task Force Zonal Commander, Mr. Bala Dole, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Kano on today (Monday). He said the vehicles belonging to the said senator were 12 new Toyota Hilux and one Land Cruiser Jeep. Dole, who declined to name the said senator, said the 13 vehicles were trailed from Maigatari in Jigawa, following an intelligence report. “Based on the intelligence report, the vehicles were 30 in number, but we were able to trail 13 of them, 12 of which were hidden in the senator’s compound. “We sealed the house and retrieved the vehicles and they are now in our custody,” Dole said. He said the other items the task force confiscated during special operations include 9,757 bags of rice, 2,916 cartons of foreign spaghetti, 2,770 cartons of imported vegetable oil and 999 cartons of macaroni. He said others were 889 bales of second hand clothes, 50 used school bags, 110 cartons of new imported shoes, 956 bags of mosquito coil and six fairly used cars. “The total value of the seizure made by the task force since it was established in July 2016, excluding the senator’s 13 vehicles, is N269.5m. “We are yet to determine the cost of the 13 vehicles belonging to the senator,” he said. Suicide: A major sin before Allah One of the sins Muslims commit inadvertently is abandoning a Muslim brother for more than three days. Most of us in this part of the world are guilty of that. A lot of reasons are adduced for this inadequacy. While some will blame it on their busy schedule, some will say: “I ve my own life to live” and all that. Brotherhood in Islam is a matter of obligation and not a matter of choice and that is why it becomes a sin if you fail to fulfill your part as a Muslim brother. It is a comprehensive concept that is based upon good character with others, treating others the way we want to be treated, and uniting under common values. In every Muslim, there must exist a sense of community, friendship, and common purpose in Islam for the sake of Allah. It is only when we we do this that we will know what is happening to another brother and how we can offer assistance individually or collectively. Segregation, or showing lack of concern for others or forsaking another Muslim brother is one of the ways in which Shaytan causes division among Muslims. A dispute or some trivial disagreement may not be enough except it is only based on committing sin against Allah. Trivial disagreement No matter the differences, a Muslim must not say “I’ll never go to his house, or ignoring him if he happens to encounter him in a gathering is a sin. This is a cause of weakness in the Muslim community, hence the ruling concerning this is decisive and the warning against it is stern. Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (s.a.w) said: “It is not permitted for a Muslim to forsake his brother for more than three (days); whoever does this and dies, he will enter Hell.” (Reported by Abu Dawud, 5/215; see also Saheeh al-Jaami’, 7635). Now, on the issue of suicide, it is a major sin. A Muslim has no right to take his own life, no matter the circumstances. The Prophet taught that any one who commits suicide will dwell in eternal hell fire, adding that Allah will punish him with the means that which he used to commit suicide. It was narrated from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “Whoever throws himself down from a mountain and kills himself will be throwing himself down in the Fire of Hell for ever and ever. Whoever drinks poison and kills himself will be sipping it in the Fire of Hell for ever and ever. Whoever kills himself with a piece of iron will have that iron in his hand, thrusting it into his belly in the Fire of Hell for ever and ever.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (5442) and Muslim (109), In another related hadith, the Prophet (s.a.w) said: “Whoever kills himself with something will be punished with it on the Day of Resurrection.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (5700) and Muslim (110). It was narrated that Jundub ibn ‘Abd-Allaah (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (s.a.w) said: “A man among those who came before you was wounded. He panicked and took a knife and cut his hand, and the bleeding did not stop until he died. Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, said: ‘My slave hastened his death; I have forbidden Paradise to him.” Narrated by al-Bukhaari (3276) and Muslim (113). Another important thing to note is that scholars and clerics in Islam may refrain from offerring Janaza for anyone who commits suicide. This follows the action of the Prophet (s.a.w) who refrained from offering the funeral prayer for one who had committed suicide, as a punishment to him and also as a deterrence to other. Although, he was said to have given permission to people to offer the funeral prayer for him. It was narrated that Jaabir ibn Samurah (may Allaah have mercy on him) said: A man who had killed himself with a broad arrow-head was brought to the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) and he did not offer the funeral prayer for him. Narrated by Muslim, 978. The believer in any kind of trauma has to be patient and seek the help of Allah. He should understand that no matter what hardship befalls him in this world, no matter how severe it is; the punishment of the Hereafter is worse than it. It is not acceptable according to anyone who is of right mind to run away from the heat of the desert and throw himself into the fire. How can he flee from temporary hardship and difficulty; which inevitably will come to an end; to an eternal punishment which has no end? Eternal punishment Any Muslim in that circumstance should ponder and realise that he is not the only one in this world who is affected by that adversity. Different kinds of adversities befell the greatest of mankind, namely the Prophets, Messengers and the righteous. They also befell the worst of mankind, namely the disbelievers and atheists. It is part of natural order of things to have issues and occurence that will sometimes be painful, and hardly anyone is safe from it. Human being is bound to face them, and he must endeavour to overcome them no matter how difficult they are. We are even taught that even when pain, hardship, sickness or grief befalls a believer, if he remains steadfast and overcome it, some of his bad deeds will be expiated. If the believer handles it well and remains steadfast, and it becomes a means that makes him turn back to Allah and strive hard in worship and righteous deeds, then the calamity would have been good for him and would be expiation for his sins, and perhaps he would meet Allah with no burden of sin.
