Sylver247:
Unemployment is bad, no that's an understatement! Its a bondage sad. I don't know about others but its not been easy at all. Sometimes I feel for my fellow guys because we feel the bite more, a lady will always get money to take care of herself no matter what, but where will a guy get from? Even your friend, before he agrees to help you ehn, its like camel passing the eye of a needle angry

To fellow male job-seekers, how have you been coping with daily survival?
How do you get money for feeding, moving around, barbing your hair, buying personal effects and all that?
Please share your secrets, maybe others can adopt your method and be better off.
I've been surviving by surviving sadsad

Kenai:
Many of you who frequently read the cacophony of political opinions expressed on Nigerian Twitter have most likely come across a certain @OgbeniDipo - a well known APC Internet Knight, Tinubu admirer and Buhari fan.
Dearest Ogbeni was also part and parcel of the vocal critics of Goodluck Jonathan's administration on the microblogging site, especially on areas that involve his handling of the dreaded islamist sect, Boko Haram.

Most memorable of Ogbeni, was his outcry at the time of the Nyanya bombing which happened in 2014.
In case you've forgotten, this was his tweet:

https://s12.postimg.org/ebs2qpkgd/IMG_20151003_171238.jpg
In the tweet above, Mr Dipo attempted to help us understand the state of insecurity and hopelessness of the GEJ administration by emphatically making it clear to us that Nyanya was just a 15 minute drive from the Nigerian Army Post Service. In other words, Boko Haram had become so strong it could strike an area so dangerously close to a federal government facility. Well and good.

Now... fast-forward to a year and 5 months after, Jonathan has been ousted and Buhari has been crowned... and BOOM! Boko Haram strikes at the SAME Nyanya district!

And this is our dear Ogbeni Dipo's tweet:

It is obvious that players in the teaching profession are taking back their lost glory based on the recognition they are now receiving from the Governments, their Employers and even private investors in the public. This softly began by some State Governments rewarding the most outstanding teachers in the States, thereby giving hopes to the new ones in the profession. Some private school owners have also taken turn and a recent one that remains in my memory is that of a teacher in one school in Lagos, Mrs. Adeyeye of Dansol Secondary School, who was rewarded handsomely for emerging as the overall best teacher in the academic session. We had Maltina Teachers' Award which came from a totally different sector. And now, the one in the picture, which even allows everyone to nominate a Teacher for an award of N100,000.00... JUST LIKE THAT!!!

Esthersblog:
An intensive care unit was recently turned into wedding chapel for one couple anxious to get married before it was too late.

Caleb Hanby and Bethany Davidson were married at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center last week, just hours after Hanby was rushed to the hospital due to breathing problems, according to the hospital.

Hanby, 28, was diagnosed last year with a rare cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma that affected his skeletal muscle in the jaw.

The couple had already planned for a quick wedding after the terminal diagnosis, but at the hospital Hanby was deteoriating quickly and they still had weeks before their wedding date. As a result the couple decided they should marry that day before Hanby’s health got even worse, according to the hospital.

“I knew it needed to happen that day,” said Davidson, 26, on the Vanderbilt University Medical Center website. “I couldn’t live without the opportunity to be married to my soul mate.”

“It made me feel complete,” The groom said on the Vanderbilt University Medical Center website.

Hanby died due to complications from his cancer on Thursday, 1 October, 2015, just over a week after saying his vows.

Romance › Re: Say No To Tribal, Religious And Gender Discrimination On Nairaland!!! by khassy(m): 7:15pm On Oct 03, 2015
Sermwell:
A concern nairalander with the moniker "hidentity"(m) posted this somwhere and I thought it wise to re-post it here so we can make reasonable comment on it because I have also been observing this trend since I joined nairaland in 2008....................

"I think that I have observed this for quite a while and I think that it need be said.

I expressed my concern on why Nigerian youths remain leaders of tomorrow even till tomorrow to someone a few years back, and he suggested that I become a member of a few social media outfits. I did- Nairaland is one. He didn't say more, but I have seen more.

E-friends, it is easier to trap the water in an ocean in a glass cup than it is to see one reasonable comment on a page on Nairaland. Is it that hard to just ignore a topic if one has nothing intellectually benefiting or wise to say than insult the feelings of a tribe, religion or sex?

Look at it from here, a lot of unemployed youths are here lamenting and the story continues year in and out. If you were an employer, are you likely to take someone on a forum like this serious to conduct the affairs of your business or firm? These things matter, but it seems we either don't know or we just deny that we don't. There are people of incredible and distinguished personalities here, but with these comments fanning the embers of ethnic war, can youths like us be left with sensitive issues like nation building?

We can't lament that we are being sidelined when we lack the diplomatic tact and mental credential to make a simple remarkable comment. Insult me for this, I don't care- people take to insult when they are short of logic. But it is saddening that these e-children of ethnic war are thought to mirror the rest of us who are not in the bandwagon of victims of social, moral and intellectual decadence.

I expected that Seun or the mods would fashion out a way to halt this madness. The truth is that not paying attention to little details has lead to several wars and disasters. If this trend of singling out an ethnic group as criminals, rapists or ritualists subsists, we all may not be able to tell the story of the consequences. We can choose our actions, but we cannot choose the consequences, why don't you just keep quiet or type something worthwhile?

I am a proud Yoruba and a Christain, but I know that in my formation process, I became human first before becoming a Yoruba or a Christian and as long as the next person is human, I should be fair to him. Why can't we just live and let live? The leaders of tomorrow are just more terrible than the ones of today.

If an Igbo person is caught for doing drugs, it is not because he is Igbo- it is because of the inherent criminal nature in every human which he didn't curb. If one Hausa man is caught for terrorism, it is not because Hausa people are terrorists, it is because of the inhumane part of every human he did not restrict. If a Yoruba man is caught for raping, it does not make Yoruba people rapists, it is because that particular Yoruba man failed to control the animal instinct in him. Committing crime is never an identity of any tribe or ethnic group because speaking English does not make one a Briton.

The future awaits us- we cannot succeed in giving it the best with the way we reason, comment and react here."

Thanks.

Romance › Re: Top 10 Lies Our Parents Once Told. by khassy(m): 7:00pm On Oct 03, 2015
NEPABOY:
Nigerian parents are very smart. They tell lies stories
to get
their children on the obedience path or to look really
good
in their eyes. Children on the other hand are inquisitive
and
gullible.

Perfect recipe right? Here are some of the common lies
Nigerian parents tell their children:

1. If you tell me the truth, I won’t touch you . You later tell
them and then get the beating of your life. sad

2. I will buy you a bicycle if you come first in class..
When
you get that first position they will remind you of
everything
they bought you since you were born. sad

3. Lend me money, I will give you back., Any attempt to
ask for the money will lead to you hearing the story of
your life. Again. grin

4. Bring me any problem, I will solve it for you..Give
them a hard problem to solve and they will give you
different excuses or they will blame your teacher for
not
teaching you well. grin

5. Don’t play with boys or you will get pregnant: This
is
so hilarious and common. Most Nigerian parents tell
their
female children this lie to prevent them from ‘danger’. smiley

6. Tell the person at the door I am not at home: “My
daddy said I should tell you that he is not at home”
usually
gives away the lie to the visitor.

7. If you work hard, you will get a gift from ‘Father
Christmas’ American movies and this lie have made
some
Nigerian kids wait to receive gift at their doorstep at
Christmas but it never happens.

8. I have counted all the meat and one is missing
Some
mothers tell this one to catch an unsuspecting ‘soup
raider’. grin

9. When I was your age I always came first If every
parent came first, who came second? grin

10. When I was your age, I sponsored myself through
school Which school? Where is the certificate? But

Romance › Re: Ladies Things That Turns Us Off In You At First Glance by khassy(m): 6:59pm On Oct 03, 2015
jaelz:
1. Scraped eyebrow replaced with pencil
drawings: God is the greatest artist and every
lady must understand that having your eyebrow
on your face gives you a natural distinctive
beauty and yes it is allowed to shape it as you
want but scraping it off and replacing it with a
eye pencil drawing can never make you as
naturally beautiful as the original makes you.
2. Scraped natural eye lashes replaced with fake
doll like eyelashes : I really don't know what
many ladies think when they remove a beautiful
natural eyelashes to replace it with a funny
looking doll like one. Believe it or not,the natural
eyelashes have a function that the artificial can
never be able to perform and if you must
know, having your natural eyelashes on gives your
eyes a more alluring look than the fake and
funny looking barbie like one. You are human for
crying out loud so remain as one.
3. The use of contact lenses: I don't even know
how to describe this one but trust me, i even
fear ladies that use such because it gives me an
idea that such a lady is very mean to herself
because how can a lady use another lens to
cover the original one without even the fear of
going blind? Please save yourself the sermon of
how painless it is and face fact. Its better for me
to be with a blind lady than one who willingly
decides to make herself blind by endangering her
eye lenses.I can't stress this enough.
4. Irregular piercings: This is a hard turn off for
me and when i see a lady having more than one
hole on each ear,im like "this one is over
exposed" and when i now see another hole in the
upper ear region, nose, lips and so on i just give
up on such and consider her as a real hustler
(Guys know what i mean). Except maybe you are
a northerner or from some countries that makes
it a norm i do not see any sense in having all
your face pierced and some even go the length
of piercing their tongue and kini and i just
wonder how some men will open their arms to
such woman and cal them sweet heart,no be
me..lai lai!
5. Bleached or over creamed body and face : As a
guy have you ever moved close to ladies who
have used cream to change their skin color in
the name of toning up or some bleached bodies?
i can't comprehend how guys dating or married
to such cope because the smell of their
denatured skin nutrients is so appalling and i
wonder how it will be when they go unclad.
There are micro organisms that are natural flora
of the skin and these microbes are every
harmless and they fight of many things from our
skin and by the time you use bleaching and
cream kill these helpful microbes, what is left is
a helpless skin that will be exposed to different
external harmful germs and the resultant effect
is a smelly skin and of-course many bleached
bodies end up in disaster.
Abeg if you are a lady reading this please avoid
bleaching or using strong cream for your body in
the name of toning. There us a natural body
fragrance that turn men on in ladies so please
maintain that fragrance and use mild cream to
maintain and bring out your natural color without
crossing the delicate line.
6. Tattooed body: Some guys claim they get
turned on by seeing tattoos on their women and i
just shake my head because i do not see any
correlation between tattoo and beauty, Call me
archaic but i don't see why i will be wowed by a
lady who draws tattoo on delicate areas that
only her man should see and i get wowed by
that and even if the tattoo is drawn at a
comparatively exposed part of the body it still
does not add up for me because keeping your
body clean and void of unnecessary drawings in
the name of tattoos will make more sense and
even make you look alluring.trust me, real men
get turned off when they see tattoos on a lady;s
body especially some parts of her body that
should not be seen by all.
7. Excessive use of jewelries and accessories:
Some ladies are obsessed with wearing 5neck
chains at a time,hand chain,leg chain,rings on all
fingers and so on habba na wettin? please no
man wants to have an idea that you will spend
all his money on buying jewelries or be the type
that may use all her life savings on purchasing
jewelries. Use jewelries moderately and you will
look even more beautiful.
8. Excessive make up: Sometimes i believe that
ladies who make up actually make up for what
they do not have. You don't need to look like a
masquerade to prove a point and guys get
turned on seeing a lady in her natural state that
after she has packaged her face to look sweet.
Little wonder why a man divorced a lady and
took her to court because he felt she hid her
true look from him and made him believe she
was pretty just to find out after marriage that he
has entered one chance. Abeg be more natural
than artificial and a man who will love and want
you wil always come.
9. Indecent dressing: I can't even stress this
enough. Many ladies go about unclad yet with
cloths on and i do not see why any reasonable
and responsible man will put a ring on such a
lady except there is another motive. Guys love
to imagine what is under those attires so please
don't show us everything.
If every lady is asked to state the type of man
they want, they will readily use the words " i want
a real man " and then i wonder how unreal they
can ever be. A lady who uses fake eyelashes,
eye lenses, nails, and so on should wish for a fake
man and not a real man.
My advice is that every lady should try to look as
natural as she can because real men love ladies
who look natural and if every lady reading this
wants to really confirm this write up please do
this..If you are "guilty" of any of the things i
wrote above just ask your man his sincere view
about it and hear his response.
I hope this makes sense.

Romance › Re: Didn't Know She Was A Lecturer, I Wooed Her(am I In Trouble?) by khassy(m): 6:52pm On Oct 03, 2015
keenn:
Last 2 years, I noticed (subconsciously) a lady that exercises very early in the morning on campus.
She was so consistent with her routine that I got inclined to know her.

My plan was to ensure she wasn't jogging when I would say hi to her, the possibility of that occurrence made me to come out early everyday in the hope to meet that situation

One day, she eventually stopped to catch her breath just almost in front of where I was seating. I took the opportunity, with a beating heart and cold feat, I walked to where she was gasping for air...

Good morning, its quite rare to see ladies that are exercise inclined, she responded 'thank you'

I like your...before I could continue, she bugged her ear with her ear piece and jogged off.

Was just last week I discovered she is a lecturer

The news is, I would be having her class on monday and this would span for 5 months. Am so worried
jus add that course to your list of carry over courses man undecided
