Congrats funnyem. Very smooth application- one month! If you don't mind, I'll like to ask you some questions later on, as I also intend to use my employer as my sponsor. funnyem: I really appreciate all the info I got from here, God bless u all! |
@Jekyll & Hyde I suggest you take the course at Concordia. It should be cheaper than the MBET at Waterloo and is two years in duration. Going for two different MSc programs back to back is kinda odd to me. Besides, Concordia is an English speaking university. So it means all your classes/ coursework will be in English. No need to be proficient in French. Montreal itself is a French city; but research will show you that many of the residents are bilingual. I hear its pretty easy to find your way around the city even if your French is only passable. But I also hear its difficult to get ANY kind of job if you are not fluent in French. I see you are a tourist/ adventurer o; you want to experience two different cultures and all that. Go to school first nah. lol. |
Siga: .... u got it right bro... I know GTB said N1000 for dem site as someone told me....but one of my guy wey dey use am say na only N420 dem charge am and he said he is ok with the exchange rate...Yes, confirmed, GTB charges only N420 naira when you make cash withdrawals abroad with your Naira Debit Mastercard. I think it's a better option for getting funds abroad because the exchange rates the bank charges is always way cheaper than the open market (i.e. mallams and the bureaux de change). |
DrNeoCortex: Thanks a lot for the info. Any ideas on how to justify your General Manager as your sponsor and then again, does my retirement savings account of N1.2million count for anything? Asides the N6million budget which I still plan to up to about N7million before I will need to travel. U didnt mention anything about you undergrad...are we on the same pedestal or you are better off?Fhemmy just put up some good questions which should guide you in using a sponsor: Fhemmmy: . . . Sorry to hear this BUT That is a generic reason, but the question is:I'll add: How many dependants does he have? If you have N7M, that's fine. But you need to show the CDHC that you have sufficient funds for your ENTIRE tuition and living expenses. (you should show you have the total funds needed plus some extra jara). I think your RSA will serve as home ties oo; since you are not supposed to be able to access the funds now. (its for retirement). I'm not better off. GPA: 3.10. I'm also counting on work experience; I have 5years |
DrNeoCortex: Thank you boss. But i just confirmed from my h.r department and they said that the organization does not issue letters for study leave. Is there any way around this pls? Thank you.Hi DrNeoCortex, We're in kinda the same situation. I'm targeting doing an MBA for Fall 2014. GMAT Score: 600. My opinion: If your organisation won't give you a letter confirming your study leave; then you should look for a sponsor. May not be a relation; just someone with a good financial standing and then you try to create a plausible reason why this person will sponsor you. My coy will give me the study leave letter; but I have still decided to get a co-sponsor so as to be on the safe side. uVic fees is about 34k; another 10k for living expenses totals 44k. That's N7.48M. I feel you need a minimum of N9M in your account Sir; to convince CDHC that you have enough funds. Plus a co-sponsor shows some home-ties (if you are married and have kids sha, maybe no need). NB: I doubt if you can get into the Toronto and Mcgill kind of schools. It will be tough with a GPA of 2.91 and GMAT score of 620. But if you can spare $100, please try applying there. Your work experience (and a strong statement of purpose) may cover the educational qualification deficit. I'm also applying to uOttawa. |
Yeah sure... God is the only guarantee for a visa. That's given. But there are also processes. And policies. Do a clean job on your application; and then allow God's favour do the rest for you. So maybe indeed, the refusal was God's way of telling her to stay back here. It doesn't hurt to point out the "seeming" errors in the application though- it could be useful for other people who are in similar situation. |
@ayaba12, I kinda agree with bumfem. Your application probably appeared like you just wanna disappear to Canada, especially as you applied with your family. Someone on this thread had a similar case. Was it galala or so; not sure. Had very good travel history, running his own coy with plenty of money, had an MBA already and wanted to go for some PG course. He was denied. Your course of choice could also be an issue; especially if it doesn't show a significant progression in your career or justify the huge expense of studying that course. I'd suggest you try to apply again. This time, leave out your family, three children and a spouse serve as excellent home ties.(could be tough but I hear its pretty easy to arrange for them to join you later). I don't know how you handled your job part, but if possible, do not resign. Let the coy write that you are still in their employ and only away on study leave. Wish you the best. Cheers! |
@sanniemoe: you may be asked to pay for accomodation before your visa is granted. The embassy does that often. The common advice is that you don't pay fees until the embassy asks you to do so. Yes, you can be refused a visa even after paying full fees. Its rare though. If you have gone this far with Maple, please stick with them. They use a thorough process, so its not likely you will be refused using them. (from testimonies of other people on this forum who have used their services). They have a good reputation for being very professional. No fear. God ll help you. |
@sanniemoe: the agent which you say you are consulting - Maple- is generally known as a trustworthy coy. They can't guarantee you a visa but they are known to be very good. Main challenge is they are expensive!. So if you can afford it, please go with them. But you can also get sufficient info here on this thread to help you if you decide to do the processing yourself. I'd advise you visit the official website of Canada first, so you can get a general understanding of the visa process and the docs you'll need to submit. Its best you start from there. This thread can only help to clarify any grey areas you have. http://www.canadainternational.gc.ca/nigeria/visas/study-etude.aspx that's the website link. |

Dear all, Good day everyone. Been following this thread quietly and I have received plenty education from it!! God bless all the folks who have tried to help others out in any way. I need some info please. I have an offer from uVictoria for MBA but I am a bit skeptical about really going there. I have heard Victoria is expensive (does anyone know, in what ways exactly is it expensive?) and I'm concerned it'll be boring- it doesn't appear there are many Nigerians there. Anyone with any info on this?? NB:: I have another offer from uRegina, also for MBA. But since I will be returning to work in Nigeria, I want a uni that's higher up on the world rankings. My employers here (it's a bank) are quite particular about the popularity and reputation of the school as well as its ranking. |
