Just curious and thinking it may be a better way to compare.What is the total square meter or square feet of your house?It is better to compare housing cost in terms of the total living space area. For example, the rule of thumb when buying a house in the US or Canada is approximated to X$/sqft , depending on the location. The square footage plays a very important role in negotiating the price of a house and likewise in building cost comparison (especially the carcass before finishings as the finishings becomes a big game changer).Two identical houses at the same cost up to the carcass level may turn out with totally different costs after finishings depending on individuals taste. Am Alone's building is a good example. His house can be duplicated (elevations and floor plan) with less money by someone who does not have a taste for high end finishings like he does.)Soup wey sweet, nah money.
Oyah, Spiderman, Han lele. Carry go. Give us the total area of your house and let others do the same for reasonable cost comparison before you give somebody heart attack with this your Guiness book of records cost.

I have about 3890sqft of living space to cover( 4-bedroom twin duplex), but about 1,000sqft is living/dining /hallway/lobby.
What type of tiles will you suggest for the high traffic areas (1,000sqft)?Which ones are cheaper and better for the other areas? Can you send the pictures with prices to my e-mail address and also can you help to purchase the tiles with the mortar and grout and ship to 9ja?
Some one has offered to do this but I cannot help asking you too.
This site has turned out to be a savior to me because I have not been able to proceed with my house due to the difficulty in getting original tiles and good tiler.

Having read all the comments and seeing the pictures, I must say that the tiler did not do a bad job.I will love to see the finished work after the "white cement"aka grout has been put on the tiles to fill the spaces.It is going to make the tiles come out a lot better.Let us give it to this guy.He may not be perfect and needs some more detailing training, but he don try.

That makes the two of us.I am actually looking at going for training, while in USA, about laying tiles and custom carpentry.Pls, let me know how you intend to go about this without being extravagant yet not compromising on quality. I must say a big kudos to you on your taste and passion for quality.I fall into the same category.
The biggest problem with building in 9ja is finishings.One can spend millions on the carcass and still end up with a house not looking as nice as half the actual cost.
Can you send some pictures and contact info of the person who did your windows(with the specifications in terms of wether the windows come with engine opener or manual, powder coated etc) and the tiles (floor and walls) to my address at   shawlar_0@yahoo.com (pls note it is zero after shawlar not alphabet).
I am seriously looking for a professional tile laying person.I am yet to see one that meets my standard.A lot of them don't  use the right material and technique for grouting and that is very important in the outcome of the tile laying job.

A new 3 bedroom flat bungalow(only 2 tenants in the compound with separate main gate) is available for rent at Adebisi layout Apata, Ibadan  (very close to NNPC). N200,000/year, 2 years rent. Very well maintained flag stone compound and the house is at the very end of a  very quiet close.

I am in the same dilemma. The most annoying part is that the management agent also reinforce the statement of "you cannot evict until after six months notice" obviously of no payment by the tenants. Which law allows anyone to live for free for six months and justifies that? I am also at a point where I am loosing my patience.
