I don't think Caf has done enough for the progress of women's football in the continent. There should be 12 or 16 teams in this tournament. There are countries better than Mali that missed out becos they were drawn against an heavyweight.
Yeah l think both Tanzania and Ethiopia have improved over the years.

You're right. But Mercy Akide takes it for me shaa.... She inspired The Falcons to their best (and Africa's best) ever finish at the Fifa women's world cup (Quarter finals @USA 99) and also led the team to Nigeria's and Africa's best Finish ever at the Olympics women football event (Quarter finals @ Athens 2004).

She reigned supreme from 1995-2004.

Nkwocha's journey began at Sydney 2000 Olympics (she wasn't even in the USA 1999 Squad), continued at the 2002 AWCON where she scored 4goals and took it higher at AWCON 2004 where she scored 9 goals followed by 7 goals at AWCON 2006. Four years after that, she banged in a record 11 goals at AWCON 2010.

Both are super legends but Nkwocha smashed Akide's records at the AWCON of 18 goals overall. Nkwocha is on 31 goals overall.

But internationally, I think Akide still leads the goals chat or maybe it's now Nkwocha. The records of our matches outside the Women's WC and AWCON will have to be checked extensively again coz Even Uche Eucharia was another goals machine before Akide came along. smiley
Yeah it's a close call between the two, this is like asking an Argentine.. Between Messi and Maradona, who is the greatest?
So on the world stage and against non African teams Mercy Akide rose to the ocassion more often than perpetual, but still l cannot clearly decide who is greater. It's a draw for me. Mercy Akide at her prime was recognized at the world stage much more than perpetual, but perpetual has done more in Africa.

So Okobi and Desire sat on the bench through the duration of the match.
This team is loaded ooo.
How I wish the NFF can give a "Rohr" to this team.
Lol, let's still give omagbemi kudos

Kenya is a good side despite being debutants. They had a good run in the cecafa championship prior to this tournament. They may be newbies but they got heart and fighting spirit. They would have made the biggest news today if not for the referee and ofcos their poor goalie....

So the AWCON rolls on..... smiley
Yeah they reached cecafa final, and also beat Benfica(Portuguese champions) 3-0, and Espanyol in the COTIF tournament in Spain, same Ese Akida was top scorer in those tournaments, Kenya has simply had the best preparation coming into this competition.

They got to the quarter final once and you think that is an achievement compared to how they perform in african competitions! Wake up man!
I understand you, but teams like USA and Germany have been playing women's football for a long time, and in every world cup we play against such teams, soon we would begin to do better bro, our players are now in their leagues.

they score goals in the world cups. They have had some victories. They've gotten to the quarter finals even.

Get your facts right wink
Yeah in 1999, they qualified from a group that had USA and Japan and only lost 4-3 on extra time to Brazil.

Even at the world stage we have always played the likes of Germany, USA, and Sweden, except in 1991, and even then we give these teams a good fight, but l believe we can do better.

Why is it that they can only score goals in African competition and when they get to the world stage they falter?
Truth is they are always in the group of death at the world stage, though that is no excuse but l believe FIFA is aware of their potential at the world stage.
