Exactly, l was a bit surprised when some here referred to her as average. l have never seen ihezuo as an average player even in 2014, though there are many average players in this team. Still the future is bright and l believe they would mature and get better if they can play for good clubs.

Something must have gone wrong in that game against Japan, today they created some really good chances against Spain and yet Spain beat Japan. The Japanese game must have taught the girls and the coaching crew a vital lesson, of which when considering the bigger picture is not really bad though.

Yeah though her weight may not be that helpful to her like we saw in the qualifiers against Senegal, but her brain is still quiet sharp.

The competition began properly in 1998, where it was hosted by Nigeria. The previous editions were majorly world cup qualifiers played on home and away format.

Yeah, this is a great squad, though l believe somehow we have abandoned umotong, but then uchechi Sunday is up to the task. This team should retain the trophy, but l am not really concerned about the AWCON, since it's like our birthright.
l am rather concerned about our superfalcons showing their stuff to the world. In most cases at the world cup, we meet teams like USA and Sweden, while the likes of Cameroon are made to play Ecuador and Switzerland. Since we know we may never have an easy group in a FIFA world cup, we must look beyond Africa and up our game. I believe the time has come for us to rub shoulders with the likes of Japan and Germany, one major problem we have though is that we face few quality oppositions in Africa, that l believe is also changing fast for our good.

This is another source of problem in Nigeria thus the act of self glorification. Oshoala or whatever you call her was never a one-girl team.

I said the oshoala's not oshoala.She was good individually and her efforts were complemented by other above average players around her such as ugo njoku, igbinovia, Courtney Dike, uchechi Sunday and even ihezuo. My point is that this set of 2014 had quality even with little preparation, this could even be seen right from the qualifiers where they scored 31 goals and conceded none. Even the 2012 set were not that great tactically but had some of the best individual players from midfield to attack in oparanozie, ordega, okobi, etc.

I watched the match to the final whistle. It does not matter one is Michael Jordan of basket, if one does not train properly, a thrashing is in stock for the person. One wonders why the professional teams in any league insist on strict training regiment. In most cases, players are not allowed to play when they were unable to train. Nothing can replace preparation in athletic competition. Lack of readiness for the tournament showed glaringly on the display of the kids. Nigerians have the tendency to expect goodies from the wrong places.

Did the oshoala's train better before they could come up with that performance? I remember reading how poor their preparation was prior to the tournament as well. I agree with you that the team would have done better with good preparation, just that the problem also lies beyond just lack of good preparation.

Lack of preparation does not even excuse the woeful display we witnessed today. Even completely unprepared, they should have put forth an actual performance that reflects the depth of the competition and their status.

Did you even watch that match from beginning to end? Are you saying those players do not belong to a club or have never played football? They were absolutely non existent, it was as if Japan was playing a group of random people that just had their feet on a football for the very first time. To say it was a disgrace is an understatement.

Exactly my point, this is not only a matter of preparation. You can't give what you don't have.

Your arguments are flawed. Even if its 2 hours they spend in camp, the basics of football can still be instilled. They are professionals that play weekly in their clubs. Putting 3 passes together is not rocket science. The coach obviously tried to play long balls to Ihezuo for 90 minutes. Thats daft and very lazy. In the end, Rashidat Ajibade was turned to defensive midfielder and we were hoofing long balls to no one in particular. The players have been in camp for almost a month, and not 2 weeks as you said. Camp opened late september, and they had all of October to train.
I can also assure you Japan did not spend a year in camp.

Exactly, just how prepared were the sets of 2012 or 2014? Preparation is good, and the style of play plus the good chemistry the Japanese showed indicates that they have been together for a long time, but still l maintain that it is obvious that just like the flamingoes, there may be very few gifted players in this squad. Even if we can't play as a team, we could have at least showed some individual brilliance, but everything was just poor. Ihezuo for instance and yakubbu in that team are excellent players but there aren't many like them in the team. I believe aside the nff's poor preparation of the team, the blame should also go to the coach for his tactics in that game as well as his poor team selection.

I may disagree with the bolded statement above. In every human endeavor, Africans seem to pedal backward. There is little individual efforts can afford. Nigeria is a complete joke in the tend of organizational acumen.

Nigeria has never had it good in terms of preparation even in previous sets, but individual talents at least would show even if you loose. But l didn't find a single spark whatsoever or glimpse of hope from any player in that team. Maybe they would do better in the next game, but talent does not hide even though preparation is the ultimate. I still feel there may have been better players left out of the squad by the coach as well as this isn't our best team certainly.

Well this result didn't come as a suprise to me. That Ihezuo or wetin be her name is average. She has been costing us so much since her u-17 champs.

To me the best set of u-20 we've had so far is d one comprising of Oparanozie, Esther sunday, orji n d likes. The rest are just average who were just lucky enough to showcase what de got @ international level

Yeah the 2012 set was a complete set with so many star players, even oshoala could only play in the midfield in that team, but they came against a tactically superior USA in the semis who were eventual champions. The 2014 set jelled more as a team though.

English Championship side Wolverhampton
Wanderers will know today the extent of a hip
injury suffered by Nigeria goalkeeper Carl Ikeme
at the weekend.


Ikeme was forced out in the second half of a 1-1 draw at Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.


This is not a good omen for Nigeria ahead of next month’s World Cup qualifier against Algeria as Ikeme is the Super Eagles No.1 choice in goal.


Wolves interim coach Rob Edwards said he is yet to ascertain the extent of the injury.


“Carl was struggling around his hip area which I
think came after he stretched to make a save,”
said the coach.



“He was having it iced at half time and I don’t
know the extent of the problem.


“Hopefully, he won’t be out for too long because he is very important for us.”

that is how the concept of afterlife affects the now of the average Nigerian Abrahamic god adherents; just talk to them for a few minutes and they'll quickly spill it to you indirectly

Good, the examples you gave are about the material things you can achieve in this world, such as building houses and winning lotteries. Jesus says all of these things are very good for yourself and Nigeria, but then he suggests a better way of living... Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness... Lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, for where your treasure is there your heart would be.
All of these verses have been abused but they encourage us to live for the betterment of mankind. If we set our gaze beyond this world and beyond ourselves we would in turn beautify this world and never be limited, we would find ourselves unselfishly living for the betterment of all and enriching ourselves as well.

separating religion from government is a right step first and orientation by the churches and mosques themselves to encourage members keep better track of what's going on in our system and hold people accountable for their actions, see corruption trials from beginning till the end because the church has so much power over Nigeria and they can bring about this change BUT corruption has seeped into the churches and mosques already, so they also shut up and preach heaven and hell in services, take 10℅ or more of corruption loots and act like nothing happened!

also, religious affiliation of candidates shouldn't sway people in voting but their track records and their promises;

"Oh! Buhari would islamize Nigeria"

" that guy is a Catholic, I'll rather vote for the MFM candidate, they pray fervently "

there's a law banning noise but churches and mosques seem exempted, I wonder who would dare report church noise to church goer and expect a favourable and fast action

I get your point, but l wonder why you choose to interpret vanity upon vanity this way. Indeed life is full of vanities, and most of the things we struggle for and even kill to selfishly get are vanities. We are called to be true ambassadors here on earth, we are in the world but not of the world. Our duty is to make the world a better place and not to escape the world(thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven). In the end, the bible has it that the world was transformed to a new Jerusalem and the righteous inherited it. That some decide to abuse these verses just like they abuse everything does not render the verses invalid or evil.
