Ghana 1 Mali 0.
Mali the dominant side though, playing good football.

Yeah, you know either Ghana or Mali would face Cameroon in the semis. If only we could find another link.

Never take victory for granted
Never allow yourself to be complacent

The Kenyans may come out fighting like a wounded tiger, they have nothing to lose as they already out and nothing is expected of them,

It is the last match of their tournament and they want to redeem themselves.

Don't assume it would be easy, treat them like you would treat any other top team.
True, the Kenyans should change their goalkeeper though. oparanozie and oshoala may just be too much for that goal keeper.

The cameroun team will beat this falcons blue black if they meet, did u watch how they handled the SA team? Their mid-field na Okrika
I just saw their game against Zimbabwe, they have problems with their final balls and are not that technical, they may be able to beat these falcons, but to say they would beat them blue black is what l don't get, the Cameroon l've been seeing are not that better than the falcons, or is it just me?

After the dust has settled, I think the girls did quite OK yesterday. We might have expected a stronger performance, but we were in control and should have won yesterday. It is also good that this came in the group stage. Ghana parked the bus but our attack still penetrated them a few times.
Against Kenya, I expect to see our 2nd team. Let the likes of Ebere, Okobi, Oparanozie, Iroka, and maybe even the substitute keeper. We have already qualified for semi final anyway, except Kenya beat us by 4-0.
Even with that ( which is impossible) we would still qualify.

Wrong. She retired because she couldn't fit in any longer.
Remember she played in the 2003 world cup, where she was dreadful.

Even though she played women AFCON at a time Nigeria was many levels ahead of other African teams, Nkwocha that is not a striker, in addition to playing the AFCON at a more competitive era, when the likes of SA, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Equitorial guinea, Cameroun, had started closing up the gap between them and Nigeria, still has more impressive goal scoring record in the tournament than her.
So you are telling me a player who scored two of our three goals in a tournament like the Olympics wasn't fit for common afcon some months later?

A lot of football nerds are on nairaland, someone talked about using wing backs which is very exciting but 3-4-3 needs a very disciplined and organised back line, you can't just switch to it mid tournament it's too risky even though I think we have the players for it.

The coach uses a very balanced approach to her formation, she doesn't use any over zealous attacking midfielder just central midfielders that hold and release the ball and are always there to support the back line, the Ghanians crowded the middle I think they used just a forward, they didn't give our mid field space and time to pick out passes and hold the ball comfortably, their full backs didn't attack at all they constricted us to the middle wonderful play from them.

I felt she could have removed a winger for an attacking midfielder(Okobi) to add more bodies for us in the middle, bring creativity and also to push the ball closer to the opponents box, then have a front two who hang around the center defenders pushing them back, waiting for through balls because I saw a lot of space between the Ghanian defenders but we kept throwing the ball up and wide (kinda lazy tactics and easy to kill) which they prepared for and dealt with accordingly.

For me it was a very exciting tactical battle, that we even had a chance shows just how talented our ladies were, they reacted to what the Ghanians did, Wogu kept coming to midfield to assist and push the ball forward, Ordega kept coming into the 8 position to hold the ball, but they kept returning to the original formation which wasn't working, am sure they are all very exhausted.

The women's game in Africa has so much improved, Ghana has built a fantastic system, all there female teams were so tactical I watched them at the junior world cups, they don't have the talent but modern football has taught us organisation and tactics(Germany vs Brazil) trumps talent

I hope the coach watches the match again and come up with a better response next time.
Yeah thank you very much, it was a good game after all, now we can review our tactics, Ghana won the tactical battle but talent saw us through. Against the likes of Germany, talent would not be enough, but still it was a good game for the tournament. Nigeria is still good to go in my opinion, we have very pacy forwards but we need to learn how to build up play efficiently rather than those long balls from midfield. The team is not there yet, but the hunger, desire and talent shows.
It is certainly going to be a Nig- Cameroon final, the Cameroonian weakness is a that their final crosses and final balls are poor and they struggle to bury their chances, they are OK but not as good as most people make them out to be.

The recognition were mere ceremonial cos she achieved nothing in fifa competitions. Perpetual as won 5 afcon title, against mercy's 3.so many other instances
Come on, after the Olympics in 2004, Nigeria had to leave Mercy out of the women Afcon to make room for other talents coming through, and the afcon wasn't very competitive for Nigeria at that time so we didn't need Mercy for it. This was how she retired, if she had played in 2004 and 2006, she would also have five today.
Also Mercy was recognized because of her performance in USA 1999, scoring one of the best goals of the tournament against Japan, and also played at the highest level of female football at that time in the American league with some of the best female players in the world and still performed credibly well. Perpetual must be applauded though for her skills and all round play, and for breaking records from her midfield role.

Lol calm down, the falcons were disappointing true, but reading the comments here would make one who didn't watch the match think the Ghanians applied all the pressure and falcons did nothing. I understand tho, expectations were high.

Kindly apologise for your ignorance. I have been watching Falcons vividly from the time of Mercy Akide. Ngozi Ebere is left footed. Plays left back. Intelligent, quick thinking, shoot well, & mark well too.
Lol, noted. The formation is different now though cos sometimes ohale plays as an overlapping left back. Gloria ofoegbu also played in that role.

Its obvious the stats says it all, four times African best player for women, this is just like comparing messi and ronaldinho. perpetual is the Best, no sentiment pls.
The African player of the year Award only began in 2001, mercy made her exploits in the nineties and certainly could have won it in 1998 until 2000 where she was recognized globally and was at her peak, she even bagged the first award in 2001.
SportsRe: Who Is Nigerias" Greatest Female Footballer: Mercy Or Perpetual? by kilo4sure: 6:30pm On Nov 23, 2016
Yeah Mercy in her time was even recognized by FIFA and in the U.S as one of the best players in the world and the best from Africa. Perpetual was also recognized globally and by FIFA but not to same extent as mercy. Perpetual though was a bit more skillful and l understand why it is difficult to choose who is better, they are definitely of the same class.

Lies!

Nkwocha was also part of the Nigerian women Olympics team in Athens in 2004.

It is a bit ridiculous attributing the success of that team to Akide while writing of the contributions of strong women like Okolo Vera, who actually was the one who scored the goal that secured us the 3 points in our 1-0 win over Sweden that saw us through into the quarterfinals.
That match was won by Nigerian good defenders like...

Akide only scored consolation goals in our losses to
I agree with you, but Mercy Akide performed in big games than perpetual did, and of course very was another spectacular player.

It seems she had a little injury during last friendly against capital city doves, where she scored two goals.
SportsRe: Who Is Nigerias" Greatest Female Footballer: Mercy Or Perpetual? by kilo4sure:
It's a tough one but Mercy Akide's goals have taken us to the quarterfinals of the world cup and till date makes us the only African team to get past the group stage of the Olympics, she is still quite popular globally and in the U.S for her heroics. l would say Akide has helped us more even beyond Africa, and in Africa. But in terms of records, perpetual surpasses her partly due to her more lengthy career. The equation is balanced.
