PoliticsRe: Osun State Declares 27th October Public Holiday To Mark Islamic New Year. by Kimmo(f): 8:44pm On Oct 21, 2014
Na wa for Aregbe ooh. Why is there a need to approve a public holiday for that? It's not as if Christians have their own new year. That said, I'd love to be working in Osun State right now. I loooove public holidays.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Has Anyone Ever Gotten This Type Of Message Before For An Interview???? by Kimmo(f): 6:44pm On Oct 14, 2014
If you applied there, then no issues. Interview invites come in all shapes and sizes.
If you didn't apply there, it might be a recruiting company doing the hiring on behalf of a company you've applied to. Usually, scam interviews take place in places like Ojuelegba, Mushin etc. to afford office space in the above address won't be cheap.
I suggest you google the address, if it's a business worth its salt, it will definitely come up. If it doesn't come up, you should attend all the same. Do not give your money to anyone though.
Also, call the number to feel them out and clarify which company it is.
RomanceRe: What Do Guys Really Want In A Woman? by Kimmo(f): 6:36pm On Oct 14, 2014
emperorchedda:
JUST TWO THINGS; Firstly she's got to be intelligent and have the ability to share ideas with me...a girl you can discuss educational topics with for hours and not get bored(this is sooooooooo scarce in Nigeria). Lastly she has to be attractive physically in the 'front' and at the 'back' (very important) but sadly most Nigerians girls think if they are sexy they don't need to be intellectually sound..its a pity! I weep whenever I relate with a really hot lady and realize she knows nothing more than flaunting her hot asss.
Sounds simple, doesn't it? The problem with that, is how the lady then becomes either friend-zoned, (if she isn't so good looking)or a very good friend with benefits. The average intelligent lady, has all the trappings, and by that I mean attitude, independence etc to go with her sharp brain. Not many guys are able to deal with that.

gorociano:
Like U.S. televangelists, Winners Chapel preaches the "prosperity gospel" that faith in Jesus Christ lifts people out of poverty, and that message partly explains the explosion of the Pentecostal movement in sub-Saharan Africa, where misfortune and poverty are often seen as having supernatural causes.

"We see giving as the only way to be blessed. Blessing other people is a way of keeping the blessings flowing," said Oyedepo, whose blessings include a Gulfstream V jet and several BMWs.

PoliticsRe: 25 Things You Probably Never Knew About Patience Jonathan by Kimmo(f): 1:47pm On Oct 12, 2014
basty:
We Nigerians are slaves to the White things. Patience Jonathan might not be able to speak good English but in fairness we understand what ever she says. We spend money to learn other people's language and yet complain about we not saying it right. Brazil, India, China and Japan speak their languages and could develop their technologies using their languages. There is no country in the world that use other country's language and develop technologically. In as much as we rely and speak others people's language, we shall remain underdeveloped. Let us forget about who Patience Jonathan is, she is at the top whether APC, PDP, Professors or haters like.
Be all that as it may, She is a First Lady. Certain things are expected of her, one of which includes speaking basic English. That aside, it says something about our education system to the whole world when our own First Lady who supposedly has an NCE and a university degree cannot string together a simple sentence. For God's sake, she once called herself a widow!

TV/MoviesRe: What's Your Best Nigerian/nollywood Movie? by Kimmo(f): 7:36am On Oct 12, 2014
This would actually take a while ooh . . I'm an unapologetic Nollywood fan. Unfortunately, at least half the movies these days are nowhere near the old ones I saw, growing up.
In the order that I remember them;

1. Ole ---- Peju Ogunmola's son (Femi Adebayo) was to marry in a few days or so, but had to take a short trip, gave some people a lift on his way back, and ended up being framed for robbery, hung to death. What really struck me about this movie was Peju Ogunmola's lamentation scene. It was - no other word for it - powerful.

2. Gone Forever ---- Hilda Dokubo was childless in it. Great scene too, where she more or less "harassed" God into granting her fertility.

3. All Mainframe movies, except Arugba and Narrow Path. Those, are true classics.

4. Ti Oluwa nile ---- Baba Wande was nothing short of genius in this movie.

5. Were Alaso ---- I was really impressed by the story, but the main character didn't do it justice.

6. I enjoy a lot of the comedies these days, especially the ones with Ronke Ojo being a village woman, and Sanyeri, the ones about street touts too are good.

7. All those old epics ---- Freedom

8. The Prostitute. Omotola was brilliant in that movie.

9. Mortal Inheritance, Rituals, The World is mine etc

10. Issakaba ---- I loved that Sam Dede ehnn

Diamond Ring, more recently - Wahala Kunle. Veeery nice!
HealthRe: Turning 30 And Feeling Depressed! by Kimmo(f):
BankoleNco:
Hey guys,
I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but I'd go ahead and post here as it is related to health (depression).
Well, I don't want to bore you with long sermon-esque writings, so I'd skip the fancy stuff and go straight
to the point. I'd be turning 30 mid next year and its really eating me up! I feel depressed and old! Its been
giving me sleepless nights and middle of the night insomnia I wake up 4.00 am for no reason nowadays
and just stare at the ceiling lost in thought and scared as hell with thoughts of being in the twilight of my youth,
knowing I'd have to get married pretty soon, just 10 years away from 40, no more clubbing, no more spontaneous
Saturday drives. The worst part is I spent MOST of my teenage and youth life in self development and didn't have
time to indulge in some most of the activities attached to youthful exuberance. Its paid off, yes! But, I AM DEPRESSED right now! sad
Did any of you guys currently 30 and above experience same? Would really help if someone said something. *sigh*
I'm not thirty yet, but I can identify with a few of these thoughts as they're generally the sort of things people have to contend with as they hit adulthood. I'd say you should find some of these fun things you missed out on and do them from time to time. These thoughts will come up when you're 39, 49 . . Also, you should have a companion, like a girlfriend or spouse who can encourage you and be a support in such times. Be strong, life is full of possibilities.

kayodebaba77: Pls,I need info abt the ui postgraduate 14/15 english exam. Will the english exam determines the admission into various dept and what is the general cut off mark? I heard about ui conducting interview too,how true is the info.I applied to elect elect dept with the CGPA of 3.21,what are my chances of being admitted? Thanks
I think it's a pooling of the scores in your three tests that determines admission. Yes, UI does conduct interviews. Three tests in all - English, Departmental, and the oral interview.
Re GPA, I don't think it's a problem.
FamilyRe: Your Little Daughter Has A Boyfriend. First Reaction? by Kimmo(f): 8:25am On Sep 22, 2014
Angel196: What would be your first reaction when u learn that your little daughter that is just undergoing the stage of puberty is having an older boyfriend? My father's reaction?... All hell would break loose. So how would u handle that situation?
Same thing my dad did at the time. Sat me down and calmly told me that he didn't expect me to have a boyfriend yet, looked into my eyes to be sure we understood each other and I knew going against his expectation wasn't worth my life.

My mom made a very valid point that the girls in the Mills and Boon books I read so often were usually aged 20 upwards.

I threw my size 12 Mary Amaka shoe at him and suggested inventive stuff to do with his job and a certain appendage on his body.
