that's false. Even blackberry works here. You would only have little issues with phones like techno, infinix and co. In as much as the phone is unlocked.

Ok. Thanks Slimmy. because I wanted to get a phone here and was advised to wait cos internet might not work well when I get there.

Personally I think Simplemobile is the best $25 includes free international texting. Its also good to check the coverage map of any carrier/simcard plus the phone compatibility (if its a simcard and non-contract). Contract is a No-No. paying for the phone plus the plan!. I thought you were in the US

Thanks man. Pls what do you know about phones from Nigeria not working properly in the US?

Some of these boils down to personal choices...
1. Some sims dont work with our naija phones. Dont have d technical reason why this problem but i have heard of At&t sim not working but then u put lycramobile and it works. ..and vice versa
2. You can bring your old handset from naija...but if u need to buy a handset then paying small small in contract better than releasing that money one time in buying outright
3. Iphone or Android. ...no answer . This one na personal preference

In america to call and recieve no difference so u have to be aware of that. If u take a contract plan which states lets say 100 minutes then that applies to any calls in or out. Most contract will be unlimited minutes so that helps if u get that package ....contract package will work out cheaper than pay as u go.. ... lycramobile or At&T is popular these days as a cheap contract package but without phone. You can get AT&T monthly package of $25 or if u feel its too expensive u shop around. So all comes down to personal budget

If u homesick and need to call naija frequently. . Calling through rebtel is not bad. You can download on your phone and buy credit to call

Thanks a lot ma'am. Your response is very helpful.

Hello house.
I have a question for those of us already in the US regarding mobile phones.

1. Is it better to buy your phone from Nigeria or buy in the states? (Heard specs differ and you may have issues using internet with your phone from Nig)
2. Is it better to wait and do the monthly contract thing instead of buying outright?
3. iPhone VS Android? Which is better in the US?

Thanks.

Good people, I know this is a faceless forum but I believe in the truth that people can be nice and help other people they meet on a forum like this, since we all became united by a single pursuit. Since joining this forum I've met and helped a few members on here in person and they can attest to my identity CC kimoraW. Gave my number to priceless200 and have been helping, So that someone would want to sell USD at a slightly lower rate to help didn't sound alien to me in the first place.
Now to clear the air, my Name is Chibuzo. I will make the full length mails I've ever sent this lady available, so all of you can judge on the accusation of "Love notes"

No need to disturb yourself over this wicked person jare. Everyone here can clearly see the truth. Thank God for His wisdom that made you dig further and not fall victim to the scam.

I have no explanation to tender,I've wronged no one and I took nobody's money. I knew all this was going to happen. Chibuzo Iloabuchi, thanks for this,it's a two way thing. My sister can't deposit 3,000dollars into some account you provided and I understand you can't pay the Naira equivalent into my sister's account. Maybe, you felt sending me love notes for the past 2 weeks and asking me how my day went was a way to eat into me. I sent you a couple of mails some minutes ago,why were you not man enough to reply me??I choose to write this, cause if I'd ignored you all,I would look the bad person. Funny enough,Walspring sent me a PM asking me if I had any dollar and I said I was selling to Plauses therefore had none. Those, who've hated my presence on here from day one, here's your time to spit your venom.

Aunty Angie baby! Now I know you're an effing LIAR! Plauses was sending you love notes abi? He is not faceless like you. He is a respectable young man that I know personally who helped me immensely. God will first punish you for even thinking of scamming him and then coming here to try and spoil his image on top. I have seen your PMs so I know you're a LIAR! Just accept that you have been exposed and hide in shame.

Okay.... tnx for the reply
Pls how did ur interview go?
Hope they're not all that strict..
My interview is by 7:30am

Well I think they are ok. Some nicer than others. Just make sure everything is in order and you present yourself very well so there will be no reason to deny. Prayer, above all, is most important. You will share your testimony next week... don't sweat it.

My cousin was recently looking for a roommate to share an apartment and it was based on someone transcript posted 2 weeks ago that i linked both of them up . They might not end up sharing a flat but u never know the network that is built from here ....When the new student gets to the school , at least he has my cousin to link up with and show him some steps .

Also I know several previous Emory MPH naija students and who ended up matching for residency after MPH . That network base is something Anybody can tap into if they want by Holler Does anyone know such and such in Emory or In any school. ......

The power of using your Networks is key .....A lot of jobs is about networking and you only know whats out there by sharing , go see how the Indian they help each other enter places.

I am done with this topic . My f1 Journey was years ago as undergrad and masters. I only viewed this thread this year for a cousin . Where i am today has partly due to networks.

Pls link me up with Emory MPH naija students na. Don't know any.

Nice of you to reply.I think the requirements for admission are almost same with other unis for phD programs. i.e transcripts, letters of recommendation, personal statement etc.(donno if it's same as public health).I was getting a bit scared since there was almost no mention of the university on this forum and I also searched current students for my program at the schl.unfortunately,I couldn't find a Nigerian on list..so I was pondering if it was a no go area for Nigerians..but seeing your post cleared my view a bit.

Yeah it's the same for public health. Glad I could help.

hello sire...firstly i would like to congratulate you on ur successful VISA interview...i'll be writing my GRE exams soon and Emory university is my schl of choice..i will like to apply for a phD degree in pharmacology..i hope you don't mind sharing your GRE scores ...and also explain the mode of application, letters of recommendation etc....thanks

Thanks. For the GRE I scored 311 (verbal 159 quant 152) and 4.0 in analytical writing. I may not be able to help you much on the mode of application because I applied for Public health which is done thru SOPHAS (a centralized application service for all accredited schools of public health). Your dept will have their admission requirements on the school website so I think you should check it out. Emory is a wonderful school for health related courses so good choice. Good luck on the process.

My Visa was approved Wednesday morning and the whole interview was less than 2 mins. I was asked only 3 question. No document was asked.
I will post the transcript here later in the weekend, also the lesson learned from the start to the end. Hopefully someone would learn from it.

Thanks.

Thanks to gunther6, sirriddy for answering my questions and thanks to those that refused to answer.

Cheers
