seppuku:You can have harmless bias in favor of your tribe; this happens everywhere; however, rampant tribalism in South Africa? Forget it, that's your forte. And that's where your energies need to go You said Zulu people "hated" Xhosa btw, is the "xhosanostra" your reason? LOl.. |
seppuku:Lemme break it down simple for you.. because it's not the earth-shattering conspiracy you think it is.. Under Mbeki's rule, there were growing concerns that Xhosa people were being preferred in key positions of government. So the media coined the term "xhosanostra"... there was no opposition from Zulu people or anything like that.. |
seppuku:Lol, do you even understand what the Xhosa Nostra is, bro? |
seppuku:thought as much |
seppuku:Why do you like presenting yourself as this expert on South African issues? especially when you know so little? There's no animosity between the Xhosa and the Zulu people, i don't even recall being there a "Xhosa must go" stance in Zulu-dominated areas, and to even insinuate Zulu people "hate" Xhosa people, because Zulu people view them to be "intellectually superior" than them, it's laughable.. Which opinions of the Zulu people did you sample to come to that conclusion? Do you personally know people of these two tribes to deduce who's "intellectually superior"? You're simply falling into the Nigerian trap of viewing everything through a tribal lens. South Africa is not Nigeria.. where people of the wrong tribe can't even get apartments in the wrong states.. There wouldn't be a Nelson, Tambo, Sisulu et al, if there were no ANC. The same ANC that was founded by Zulu intellectuals such as Pixley ka Seme, Josiah Gumede, and John L. Dube. Stop forcing the hate you have for each other on us |
seppuku:Seppuku, The Xhosas don't hate the Zulus.. I know you'd so like South Africa to be like Nigeria, but sorry to burst your bubble |
seppuku:when was this? 1880? |

Then they accuse people of being "xenophobic" |
Hydriss:. Build those roads, Namibia has the best roads in Africa, Senegal has the best roads in West Africa, what are you waiting for? white people? This is exactly the defeatist mentality I'm talking about |
Solsix:. Isn't this rich coming from a Nigerian of all people? |
Hydriss:South Africa is also just getting there, we're not a developed nation but a developing one.. Secondly, Apartheid held us back in a lot of ways. We could have been even further than where we are.. You guys conveniently miss this fact and rush to worship and credit the white settlership in SA, forgetting its drawbacks and the inequality that came from it.. Black South Africans got out of Apartheid a mere 30+ years ago; today, the biggest middle class in Africa is made of Black South Africans, and the biggest number of Black US dollar millionaires are black South Africans. Even leapfrogging countries that got independence in the 60s, like Nigeria, now imagine if we didn't have Apartheid, where would we be by now? ....So please don't dare insult us as say we would have been another African country.. We never had those dynamics to begin with. You got your independence in the '60s, and you've been stuck ever since. Compare this with the black South African who got democracy in 94 You guys know nothing about South Africa apart that it has white people, you don't understand the dynamics, the history, the way of life, the competence of an average white person.. this is why i don't take kindly to sweeping statements |
Hydriss:Nigerians are fascinated and obsessed with white people or whiteness in general, this is not an agenda but a fact.. Do you know the extent of that "development" or how it spread? Secondly, there are successful, progressive black countries like Botswana that are gradually getting there.. it has to do with leaders, not pigment.. Botswana is an all black-country, but is nothing like Nigeria, so don't look at African countries through a Nigerian prism.. |
Hydriss:You know, there's this Nigerian actor, his name is Pere..something.. He recently said South Africa makes better movies or television shows than Nigeria, and guess what was the defense of Nigerians? They argued it's because those movies are produced by white people, which is, ofcourse, false. An overwhelming number of South African actors are black, same with the producers and directors, same with the production houses...where am i going with this? A Nigerian wants to attach every progressive thing in South Africa to white people. Why? So you guys don't feel that other black people (esp Black South Africans) aren't leaving you behind. This is exactly the same thing you did on this thread |
