Politics / Lawyers Ask DSS To Release A’ibom Invasion Report by kinggenesis(m): 5:51pm On Sep 06, 2015
ADE ADESOMOJU, ABUJA

Some lawyers, under the aegis of the Akwa Ibom Lawyers Forum in Abuja, have asked the leadership of the Department of State Service to quickly investigate the alleged invasion of the Akwa Ibom State Government House in Uyo by its operatives and make its report public.

But they also condemned what they described as “the incessant attack by the Peoples Democratic Party on the Department of State Security Service” for performing its lawful duties.

Coordinator of the forum, Mr. Leo Ekpeyong, who along with
some other members of the forum, who spoke in Abuja on
Saturday, said the group’s findings had shown that the DSS did not invade the Akwa Ibom Governor’s official residence, but a guest house of the Akwa Ibom State Government.

He however urged the leadership of the DSS to release its report of investigation on the invasion so that Nigerians would know the true state of affair.

Ekpeyong said, “We urge the leadership of the DSS under the
able leadership of Mallam Lawal Daura, who has brought to bear professionalism and expertise in the discharge of its duties to expedite action in the course of this investigation. We urge the leadership of the DSS to complete its investigation speedily and let Nigerians know the outcome.

“The safety of lives and property of Nigerians cannot be
negotiated for any reason whatsoever. We urge the leadership of the DSS to make public the outcome of its investigation as soon as it is concluded so that Nigerians will know the true state of affairs because it is clear that only the guilty are afraid.”

One of the PDP’s top figures, the Ekiti State Governor, Mr.
Ayodele Fayose, only on Friday criticised the DSS for the alleged invasion into the Akwa Ibom State Government House.

He warned the PDP against unnecessary attack on the security
agency.

Business / Tax: FIRS To Audit All Companies by kinggenesis(m): 4:54pm On Sep 06, 2015
The Federal Inland Revenue Service on Sunday disclosed plans to carry out a special audit of all companies operating in the country.

The audit, which will be carried out by the service in
collaboration with Audit Firms and Tax Consultants, is aimed at increasing the level of compliance with the relevant tax laws, thus improving tax revenue for the country.

A statement from the FIRS signed by the Director,
Communications and Servicom Department, Mr. Emmanuel
Obeta, explained that the decision to carry out the exercise was reached after a meeting between the Acting Executive Chairman, FIRS, Mr. Babatunde Fowler; and audit firms, chartered accountants, tax consultants and other professional Service providers.

The statement stated that the audit would be carried out within 30 days and would take into consideration the various year ends and peak points of activities of the various companies.

Fowler, according to the statement, pointed out that the
collaboration between the professional service providers, states board of internal revenue and FIRS, would mark a turning point for taxation as well as reduce the country’s reliance on oil.

The statement reads in part, “The meeting focused on the need to harmonise exchange of information across all the revenue authorities as well as ensuring a synchronised auditing of all the various companies in the country.

“At the end of their meetings agreed to share information with
members of National Assembly, particularly on tax laws in
collaboration with other professional bodies as well as relevant stakeholders.

“They also resolved that FIRS, State Revenue Boards and the

companies to ensure accuracy of the exercise, enhance
transparency and drive compliance.

“These audits will be completed within 30 days and will take
cognisance of the various year ends and peak points of
activities of the various companies.”

Fowler, according to the statement, said the input from
stakeholders was necessary for the expansion of the nation’s tax net, information dissemination, building capacity of tax
administration as well as sharing information that would
promote voluntary compliance.

Through partnership and consultations with the relevant
stakeholders, the Acting FIRS Boss said, there would be a
significant improvement in tax revenue and tax administration.

Politics / Gunmen Attack Kogi PDP Chairman by kinggenesis(m): 3:22pm On Sep 06, 2015

By Kingsley Fanwo

The Kogi State PDP Chairman, Hon Sam Uhuotu was Thursday
attacked by gunmen numbering about 20 on the Abuja-Lokoja road. Uhuotu was returning to Lokoja after an official
engagement in Abuja when the dare devil gunmen allegedly
waylaid him and took away his money and other valuables
including official files.

Confirming the incident, PDP Publicity Secretary in the state,
Prince Bode Ogunmola said the attack was unfortunate and
shocking.

“Yes, the PDP State Chairman was attacked on his way back from Abuja. The attackers took away his cash and many other
valuables including party files. It will be too hasty to say
whether the attackers were robbers or assassins. But we urge the security operatives to unravel the mystery behind the dastardly act”, he said.

Also, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Secondary Education, Hon. Jacob Ogirima Anebe said the attack may not be unconnected to the recently held ward congresses during which the Chairman was adamant on due process. He said politicians must learn to play the game according to the rules.

“All Kogites must unite to condemn the attack on our Chairman irrespective of party affiliation. It is sad that some people are so desperate for power that they can go to any length. We want the DSS and the police to get to the root of this case to avert future occurrence”, he said.

However, the PDP State Chairman, Hon. Uhuotu has expressed
gratitude to the people of the state for their show of solidarity
during his travails. He said the state must unite against crime.
Uhuotu expressed confidence in the ability of security agencies to fish out his attackers.

Health / 8 Most Effective Tips On How To Lighten Up Those Dark Armpits! by kinggenesis(m): 3:49pm On Aug 29, 2015
It is indeed embarrassing to show off your under arms if you know it for yourself that it isn't as lighter as the other people's armpit.

A lot of experts claim that dark underarms are normally caused by repetitive use of deodorants which have lots of chemicals in it that makes the skin darker.

People are now looking for several steps and ways to remove the dark shades of their underarms. Well, here are eight steps on how you can slowly kill the dark shade of your under arm.

1. Place potato slices and rub it on your under arms for 5-10 minutes every day.

2. Use lemon juice, which is a natural bleacher. Just press the lemon juice on the armpit, then rinse it off.

3. Remove the under arm hair by waxing.

4. Exfoliate with brown sugar and lemon juice.

5. Papaya Scrub which removes dead skin cell.

6. Cucumber Slices, just rub it on the dark skin.

7. Baking soda and water and rub it on your skin.

8. Orange peel, dry it up and put it in the blender to create a powder. Then make a paste by adding water.

You've got to try these steps for you to find out how effective it is.

Food / 15 Amazing Health Benefits Of Cashew Nuts by kinggenesis(m): 9:57am On Aug 29, 2015
Who doesn’t know about cashew nuts? OPA-CASHEW is
what we call them in my dialect (Igala).

The kidney shaped or bean shaped nuts have many health benefits, a few of which are presented below:

1. Prevents Cancer

Proanthocyanidins are a class of flavonols which fight against tumor cells by stopping them to divide further. These proanthocyanidins and high copper content in cashew nuts help fight against cancerous cells and keeps you away from colon cancer. This is one of the major cashew nut benefits.

2. Healthy Heart

Cashews contain low fat content when compared to other nuts and that too in the oleic acid form which is very healthy for heart. They are cholesterol free and the antioxidants present keeps you away from heart diseases.

3. Lowers High Blood Pressure

Cashew nuts lower your blood pressure with the help of magnesium present in them.

4. Helps Hair

Copper is the mineral which helps your hair get that color. So if you take cashews which are full of copper content, you can get that black hair that you always wished forn

5. Healthy Bones

Like calcium, magnesium is also important for bone
health which is the main content in cashew nuts.

6. Healthy Nerves

Magnesium is stored on the bones surface which prevents calcium from entering the nerve cells and thus keeps the blood vessels and muscles relaxed. Insufficient amount of magnesium can lead calcium to enter the blood vessels leading them to contract. It also leads to high blood pressure, migraine headache etc.

7. Prevents Gallstones

Daily intake of cashewnut can reduce the risk of
developing gallstones up to 25%.

8. Helps in Weight Loss

Even though cashew nuts are considered as fats, it contains good cholesterol. So contrary to popular belief, those who eat cashews at least twice a week gain less weight when compared to those who eat less.

9. Anti-oxidants

Selenium, copper, magnesium etc. act as co-factors for many enzymes.

10. Helps Digestion

Cashew nuts help in growth and development, nucleic acid synthesis and digestion.

11. High on Vitamins

Cashew nuts are rich in vitamins like riboflavin, pantothenic acid, thiamin, niacin etc. These vitamins keep you safe from sideroblastic anemia, pellagra, etc.

12. Healthy Gums and Teeth

As mentioned before, the magnesium content present in cashew nuts is very good for bones. So it gives healthy teeth as well as strong gums to hold them.

13. Pleasant sleep

After menopause, these cashew nuts can give you relaxed and pleasant sleep during nights.

14. Free Radicals

Cashew nuts help our body to utilize iron properly and eliminate free radicals which cause health problems.

15. Macular Degeneration

Cashew nuts have the ability to filter Sun’s UV rays
and protect us from macular degeneration ( 12 ).

Now that you know the health benefits of Cashew nuts, ensure that you eat a few once every week I am sure you already love them.

Fast-rising singer and comedian, Innocent Udeme Udofot,
otherwise called MC Galaxy, revealed in an interview how things were rough for him before he did the song, Sekem.

According to him: “Things were rough for me before Sekem. I
want people to see me and be inspired by my story, saying, “If
MC Galaxy can do it, I can do it. I remember when I used to
perform at a comedy club; I was usually paid N2,000 and would sleep in the club till the next day because I had little for transport fare. By the grace of God, I have become very busy
now.”

When asked how he came about the dance, Sekem, he has this
to say: “After Kukere, I usually dance Skelewu and I created the
Sekem dance from the comedy club. The dance started trending from there. I decided to take it further by using it in my song. I had created dance steps for other people, so I decided to create mine. Sekem in my local dialect means shift there .It is actually called Sekemi. I omitted the “I” and renamed it Sekem”.
