BusinessRe: Business Idea Or its financial Investment.. What Is Worth More? by KingofHearts(m): 8:15pm On Sep 21, 2020
Non is more important than the other.Without ideas there will be nothing to fund, without funds ideas are very likely to remain as ideas/dreams.It is the primary responsibility of the Entreprenuer to find sources of funding for the idea.Either take the offer or roll your sleeves and start building organically(slow, steady and very hard work)
Kindly note that 1% of something is better than 100% of nothing!!!
My honest opinion.

I am in the same position as you ......
I am just 19 years old ..... sometimes I feel useless because I am just confused on what to do that will elevate my finance ..... though I av not started earning anything in this lockdown.
I gained a bit of knowledge and they say knowledge is power
So here are the books I read that that I can advise you to read .
1.rich dad poor Dad
2.think and grow
3.the millionaire next door
4.richest man in Babylon
I hope it helps you small
10 years is not far from now...in another 10 years you will be 29 and those Amebo will be asking you when are you going to get married ,reminding you how you will soon be 30!
Some of us had the privilege to learn from real rich people,so i'll tell you that you will learn more from experience.if you have friends with rich dads/your dad watch them ,observe the way they talk and move, ask them questions like what where they doing at 19 and stuffs just learn to keep a conversation and network......You will find that being able to keep a conversation and able to network with high net-worth people will come handy in the future...i learnt that at 17 from my dad!
So books will help ,watch your circles very well, have a target ,get a mentor and keep your goals ahead of anything.i believe you guys will succeed.

Catch ya later!

The only step I have taken lately now is opening an account.
I also have books that I read concerning this matter
Apart from that. My hands are tied. I'm just a broke boy who knows nothing.
I will do something about it, but this lockdown just complicated things. I should even be in school by now.
One step at a time.Opening an account is good,it means you are ready to start receiving payments. The books suggested are great, please read as much as you can.Reading will shape your mind in a way you cannot imagine but don't stick at that.Ideas rule the world, learn something that can help you build your ideas. You must have something in mind you want to build on otherwise keep learning and volunteer to gain experience and exposure you can build upon.

Will check you again.Keep walking!

but how do we(youths) take over when they never give us the chancehuh They say we are leaders of tomorrow . but in Nigeria reverse is the case .. I don't see youths as the problem . the youths only grab any opportunity they find themselves knowing fully well the top seats can never come to them as long as we have greedy old men whom will always wanna remain at the top, so they wouldn't mind collecting the 10k or even 1k given to them during elections . undecided
So as discussed on phone, never give in to the thinking that the baton ought to be handed over and there is no hope.We have to get it intelligently, the battle is first mental then of unity of purpose. The baton can be taken with a movement...a strong movement.Open for a chat anytime.

NB:There is a handle here calling for a revolution and recruiting people, you can't win these guy with violence.Secondly,it won't take long before you are picked up in case you think you are invincible on this platform.Don't lead angry people in anger to the hanger!

After critically examining the situation of this nation, we'v come to a conclution that the matter of nigeria cannot be settled as long as we have a braineless element as president. Case Closed. angry
My dear, the situation is beyond the president. We are all part of the problem but we find it very easy to blame whoever is at the top without looking at the mirror. No young person in his or her right senses with a desire to see Nigeria great will and should vote for any of the current leaders, their advisers, mentees, children and anyone related to them by blood, bone, hair, air or water!

Aside from that, the truth is the power to transform and change Nigeria is in the hands of the youth.Lack of understanding, diverse interest, messages and tales of hatred passed down from generations within regions and the love for quick money is what is holding the youth behind. The academic intelligence is available, technological know how is available, strength and power to hustle is available, natural resources is available;we only need to wake up!
Non of these old guys will leave the stage for you, nobody will hand over an "oil well" to twitter gangs. These people sacrifice their loved ones(some children, some wives),their properties and even took loans...they take heavy risks, some never bounce back again!.When you collect bribe to vote ,it is out of these sacrifices that they give.
We young people cannot take bribe during elections or vote for YAM eaters and be asking for the YAM handed over or good road and electricity after collecting 10k.
We must be responsible enough to tell our children ,born and unborn about how we also contributed to the rot and promise them that we will get up and fight for them by collectively working together to take over intelligently and strategically from today!

It is scam... Pls don't fall for this guy and expose your business ideas and plans here.

It is not the first time this is happening on nairaland. No one will get the money but the crook will cart away with the best idea
I agree with you that it is a common thing here which is a reflection of our society.
However, never get bothered about anyone stealing your idea or concept.God gives the vision out to who he wishes and even at that God does not reveal everything at once.
Many copy cats have tried to steal many ideas in the past but have ended up at a loss trying to implement something they had no vision of.Google did everything humanly possible to copy Youtube, they created google video and spent billions on it...in the end it failed woefully, they tried other approaches non worked until they settled for buying Youtube over.
Focus on getting your ideas off the ground and stop wasting time focusing on the idea robbers! God bless your ideas and link you all up for success,Cheers!

Good evening everyone.
I'm here for advice sad
I'm a 17 yo kid (will be 18 this October), 100L in medics stuff.
I really, realllly, really, wanna start building my self financially sad I just don't know where to start
I don't necessarily wanna make cash immediately (but I will if its possible).. But what I truly need right now is guidance and knowledge.
What books should I read?
What sites should I frequent?
What skills should I develop?

Please, I don't to be like other people depending on government and salary sad
You are already on the right part. The first stage is to have the desire and seek ways and answers to your desire.
I am proud of you that you are not interested in what the time wasters on this forum spend their time on.I believe you are already 20% successful and on your way to achieving your dream.
There are many things i would love to share with you here but for the toxic environment here. However,i will share 1 with you and if you desire more i can spare 30mins with you,if you wish.

[b]1) Time

I will not go religious on this but will be very honest and practical, of all the many things you need to build your empire TIME is key.
Watch what you spend your time on,time is the major thing between you and your dreams. If you spend all your day reading Nairaland, facebook,IG,tweeter Gists you will amount to nothing! if you spend time watching TV and following sports all day you cannot build any significant empire. You have the same 24hrs as anyone you see building an empire or climbing a ladder, the way you spend your time and the things you spend it on within every 24hrs of each day is what will set you apart.
It is the same 24hrs we work with that gives some people 40k per month and the same 24hrs for 30 days give other 400k per month each with not more than 24hrs.
Everything we do each day and leave undone each day will lead us to whatever path we find ourselves at each stage of life.
Watch your routine, what, who and where you spend your TIME. You've got only 24hrs each day!

2)STAY AWAY FROM GIRLS AND RELATIONSHIPS( sorry,i don't have much time to go into this)

That's all i can give at this moment .I want you to know that i believe you can do it and wish you well on your journey building the empire of your dreams.

Am just thinking out loud. Nairaland is a popular site for online interaction, what if its transformed to an online market, that connects buyer to seller, where people can trade their goods, skills, knowledge for a fee, a simulation of sites like upwork and fiverr?

History is repeating it's self.Similar plague, same approach and same reactions...the result will be the same.

Instead of being proactive we hear things like "Strange disease killing in Kano" at this time of Covid.

Humans complained about the Economy and Freedom to move then too.It is a trade, immediate economic relief for eventual infection with high possibility of death.

Stay strong people;Winter is coming!

I doubt about the viability of your e-commerce business in Nigeria. Bigger e-commerce companies like konga.com, olx, effritin.com, gloo.com etc have shut down despite with millions of dollars investment from their private equity investors. As big as jumia.com is, it is yet to be profitable in Nigeria. It's not enough to create an e-commerce website that you assumed it will disrupt the market rather how many Nigerians will patronise you. Simply because e-commerce is not yet ripe in Nigeria. The total addressable market for e-commerce in Nigeria is less than 500,000 customers out 200 million population. I am not condemning your business but rather do more research on why bigger e-commerce are not profitable and shutting down in Nigeria
I appreciate your views and doubt which I believe is a honest concern considering what has happened to the mentioned businesses.
Firstly,i don't agree that e-commerce is not ripe in Nigeria,it is ripe. The main problem is purchasing power, delivery issues, scams and trust issues as to if client will get exact item and payment processors(transfers decline and even now reverses,POS terminal failure and network issues,COD).
However, this issues are currently been tackled gradually by smart Nigerians who are seeing a need to serve I.e paystack, flutterwave(Payment). Our delivery system is designed to eliminate delivery issues associated with our terrain;there is not much one can do about purchasing power except to create a niche, focus on ones market segment and identified customers;why? Most Nigerians are poor,2)There is a pool from our research that shows that we have far more than the 500,000 that you mentioned,I will like to have you over a cup of coffee and show you our data...I believe it will benefit us both intellectually(sorry I can't put that here because this forum is on the decline and intelligent things are not welcome here anymore).

Secondly,we have a couple of guys on my team who have worked at different levels for some of the businesses mentioned. It has taken us 2years of stressful onsite and off site research work on this business inclusive of case studies about these companies including "Dealday".There is no e-commerce that makes attempt to function like eBay,Amazon that can flourish here using the same model(Nigerians are tough people...but nice if you can give them what they want without running at a loss)We as a team have learnt that there is more to learn from China and India than America..simply build an African e-commerce that functions "africanly" across Africa and differently globally.

Thirdly,Jumia is not a good example to show what is achievable and in terms of profitability, why?it is difficult to stay profitable when your investors work out a cash investments of let's say $60million dollars and add other non monetary investments..like goodwill of putting the name of a I.e Former Visa vice chairman or Goldman Sachs senior director on your board as part of investment requirements then sum it all to $115 million investment. The books read $115m,the news on media sources reads $115m,everybody is working towards $115m,$30m is spent on advert stunts (yeah advert stunts),every other overhead has to manage the rest while the business is working towards $115m or + interests depending on other associated terms. This things are crazy really ,nothing better than growing organically or accelerating with minimal funding+50% profit back into the business(takes crazy discipline tho, especially for a black man)...they are actually making a lot of money but servicing over heads, advert stunts and hiding arrangements in their books that puts a lot of burden and pressure on the business.

The numbers are more than you think, confidence in e-commerce has to increase, scam has to reduce drastically, delivery terrain has to be smoother,Customer service and experience must be no 1.we have put different measures in place to sort the above issues and are prepared for future issues. Our delivery service is designed to aid the e-commerce business as we cannot rely totally on existing sources.

Lastly,We are focused on connecting buyers with the open air markets in as much countries as possible.Send me your contact, let's have that coffee on me;not bad to have one more person on your network....after all not everything is money!
Do have a beautiful day.
