SocialJustice:I have never read anything about moringa leaf being hard to digest. Never even heard anout that before... You might want to check the sources of your news. You can check out credible international research journals and scientific based findings about the potency of the Moringa leaf to have a deeper understanding of why it is classified as a super food. Yeah, there are all sorts of organic certified fertilizers. You can even use cow dung/poultry manure too. |
SocialJustice:Just make sure it's organic and you are good to go. We have similar plans. My target is to do sizeable quantities of powder and oil first, then i can develop niche later. Stress of niche product is alot - marketing and product development is a lot of stress abeg. ![]() |
EMMAACHILE:You are right, there are just too many uses of Moringa. One can always develop a niche market for any area. I do not think DP's exorbitant costs is worth it for leaf production. Certainly worth it for the seed production though. |
SocialJustice:I am doing both moringa leaf for powder and moringa seed for oil. However, pkm1 and momax3 are for seed production. |
SocialJustice:That's lovely. Where is your base? |
EMMAACHILE:I have checked it out. It's from that DP guy as well. Not interested in buying more from him. Thanks for sharing. |
EMMAACHILE:Thanks alot for this, bro. I'll definitely check it out now as I am still going to do leaf production on we finish transplanting this. . PKM1 is fine for now o - it gives about 2 -2.5 tonnes per hectare and costs less than 10% of the price of Momax3. Only snag is it produces commercially for only 3 years but that's not problem for me as i have my 4,000+ seeds of Momax 3 that should be fruiting very well by then by God's grace. |
SocialJustice:Because it's cheaper. I intend to plant the F1 of momax 3 i just bought (that is planting from the harvest of the seeds I just got) next year by God's grace but pkm 1 will give some returns till then ![]() Do you own a moringa farm? |
This is a picture of my nursery. These are 10 day old pkm1. My momax3 seeds have finally arrived from India and should be planted by next week by God's grace. I ordered my PKM1 from India as well.
|
EMMAACHILE:I don't think it has to do with the chemical fertilizers. They have their organic fertilisers used. They pruned it from the top to limit the height. The momax seller in India does the same to his trees. |
gypsey:God bless you for this. The way people make senseless contributtons at times really baffles me. These perverts need to be exposed |
SocialJustice:Organic farming is more stressful and expensive than inorganic i must admit. However, there are organic fertilisers and pesticides but you would still need to use the services of a consultant with experience in organic farming. |
Pistotita:Currently into organic crop farming (Moringa) with a view to process into powder and oil. |
SocialJustice:You are welcome. In organic farming, there is a requirement known as traceability. You have to be able to provide the source of your seeds and demonstrate it's organic if you want to get the organic certification. Products with organic certification are priced and average of 40-80%(or even more) above inorganic (also called conventional) products. I do not have any specific international pricing now as I am also still in nursery stage. Cheers |
SocialJustice:Not at all. It's just that alot of export contract terms now say strictly organic so you want to be well-placed to compete. Also, organic commands premium pricing and that's the only way to differentiate against the indians who sell their inorganic moringa very cheaply because of their economies of scale. Emmachile already spent so much on the momax seeds, that's why i advised he should not add chemicals to his first set of trees yet. |
This is solid information. I am into agriculture as well and can confirm you know your facts. Thanks alot Pistotitia. Im learning so much. Please we need more ooo |
EMMAACHILE:I will advise you not to use chemicals and to try to grow organic. Once you add chemicals, you have unable to use any seeds from the harvest for organic production - which is where the real money is. |
Plant lemon grass all over your compound..you will never see a snake after that. They really hate the smell quote author=Zammzammm post=79426553]Please nairalanders i need information about this snake. The snake is very common in eti osa area of Lagos. This is the second one that I have killed this year in my compound . There are undeveloped plot of land around my compound, I suspect that they come from there I need to know the specie, and if they are venomous and poisonous. Thanks for anticipated assistance[/quote] |
EMMAACHILE:The growth is very impressive. Can't wait for them to start flowering. |
EMMAACHILE:I need enough for 1 hectare (1,600 seeds) so I think i should try the N6,000/kg seeds. How is your momax3 growing? |
Hello bro, Please i left a message for you on your Pawpaw thread. i can't afford DP's seed + shipping. I don't check my pocket wella. ![]() So I'm hoping you can help with a contact for the N6k/kg seed. Thank you |
EMMAACHILE:Hello @emmachile, i searched for moringa on nairaland and you came up. Please can you help me with how to get the N6,0000/kg seed. It's F1 or F2 Momax 3. I have checked my pocket well and Moringa India's own is very expensive for me. |
EMMAACHILE:Nice one Bro. Thank you for sharing updates |
EMMAACHILE:Wowwww. This is very impressive. Thank you for final push to buy mine. That money cost oooo |
dreamwords:Yes o. Might even be more than depending on make. |
@Emmaachile just came across your thread. I'm about to buy momax3 seeds from DP in india to start moringa seed production. I recently started moringa leaf production. Did you buy from him? I have been unable to verify his yield claims. I'll advise you take 2.5 tons/ha in year 1 with a pinch of salt. I will do trials share but managing my expectation. Were you at the Moringa Summit in Abuja in April? |
Hello opcyhardey, Some people were invited for 2 more stages (one end of sept and another in oct) and some have had their medicals. I have no idea what they are up to. I'm assuming you are a commercial graduate here. All the best |
All the best to us o! . |

Let's update one another if we hear anything E go better |
@kkmny I am a commercial grad - chose Commercial as first preffered unit and Contracting and Procurement as my second. Thanks. |
