Is organic fertilizer available in commercial quantity to support a large farm?

I keep reading stuff about moringa leaf being hard to digest and most of the nutrients it contains can not be absorbed into the body. Is this really true or some people are already trying to demarket the product.
I have never read anything about moringa leaf being hard to digest. Never even heard anout that before... You might want to check the sources of your news. You can check out credible international research journals and scientific based findings about the potency of the Moringa leaf to have a deeper understanding of why it is classified as a super food.

Yeah, there are all sorts of organic certified fertilizers. You can even use cow dung/poultry manure too.

Toothpaste, that's really high tech. I just want to strictly target global oil supply. Sell 2500 litres at N20k or more monthly.
Just make sure it's organic and you are good to go. We have similar plans. My target is to do sizeable quantities of powder and oil first, then i can develop niche later. Stress of niche product is alot - marketing and product development is a lot of stress abeg. grin
AgricultureRe: .. by KingOpe: 1:50pm On Aug 01, 2019
EMMAACHILE:
Why? His prices are exorbitant but worth it if you can get the seeds.
I may order for the MOL'E moringa if I want to go into commercial toothpaste and soap production. It's also good for livestock like pig or goat.
The uses are numerous.
You are right, there are just too many uses of Moringa. One can always develop a niche market for any area. I do not think DP's exorbitant costs is worth it for leaf production. Certainly worth it for the seed production though.

You mean leaf or seeds?
I am doing both moringa leaf for powder and moringa seed for oil. However, pkm1 and momax3 are for seed production.

Oh, I see.

I'm still in training, hopefully this year or next I'll start mine.
That's lovely. Where is your base?
AgricultureRe: .. by KingOpe: 8:41am On Aug 01, 2019
EMMAACHILE:
Instead of pkm1, you would have gotten the latest one in town called the "MOL'E" which is like the PKM series known for leaf production.
I have checked it out. It's from that DP guy as well. Not interested in buying more from him.

Thanks for sharing.

Thanks alot for this, bro. I'll definitely check it out now as I am still going to do leaf production on we finish
transplanting this. . PKM1 is fine for now o - it gives about 2 -2.5 tonnes per hectare and costs less than 10% of the price of Momax3. Only snag is it produces commercially for only 3 years but that's not problem for me as i have my 4,000+ seeds of Momax 3 that should be fruiting very well by then by God's grace.
AgricultureRe: .. by KingOpe: 10:50pm On Jul 31, 2019
SocialJustice:
Why did you get pkm1?
Because it's cheaper. I intend to plant the F1 of momax 3 i just bought (that is planting from the harvest of the seeds I just got) next year by God's grace but pkm 1 will give some returns till then grin

Do you own a moringa farm?
AgricultureRe: .. by KingOpe: 8:34pm On Jul 31, 2019
This is a picture of my nursery. These are 10 day old pkm1. My momax3 seeds have finally arrived from India and should be planted by next week by God's grace. I ordered my PKM1 from India as well.

These moringas will be 4 months as from August 7th and there are this big. I got some pixs from another momax3 farm in kaduna which is about 1 year old and the trees are shorter than this.
I guess its because of the addition of chemical fertilizers and the frequent watering at home. The ones on the farm in my case dont grow too fast too.

350 new nursery plants to be transplanted. The hustle is real shocked
I don't think it has to do with the chemical fertilizers. They have their organic fertilisers used. They pruned it from the top to limit the height. The momax seller in India does the same to his trees.

Thank you. How can a person nurture a large farm on organic?
Organic farming is more stressful and expensive than inorganic i must admit. However, there are organic fertilisers and pesticides but you would still need to use the services of a consultant with experience in organic farming.

You are welcome. Which area of Agriculture are you into?
Currently into organic crop farming (Moringa) with a view to process into powder and oil.

Thanks for explaining the risk involved.

What if fertiliser is used for the first trees then the seeds they produce are planted and grown organically? I guess the organically grown will have no issues.

Can you please give an example of actual organic/inorganic moringa oil price difference.
You are welcome. In organic farming, there is a requirement known as traceability. You have to be able to provide the source of your seeds and demonstrate it's organic if you want to get the organic certification. Products with organic certification are priced and average of 40-80%(or even more) above inorganic (also called conventional) products. I do not have any specific international pricing now as I am also still in nursery stage.

Cheers

SocialJustice:
Does fertiliser affect moringa oil quality?
Not at all. It's just that alot of export contract terms now say strictly organic so you want to be well-placed to compete. Also, organic commands premium pricing and that's the only way to differentiate against the indians who sell their inorganic moringa very cheaply because of their economies of scale.

Emmachile already spent so much on the momax seeds, that's why i advised he should not add chemicals to his first set of trees yet.

This is solid information. I am into agriculture as well and can confirm you know your facts. Thanks alot Pistotitia. Im learning so much. Please we need more ooo

It needs oh though I told someone to be checking it for me. He also travelled last week. From next week, I will pay full attention to the place as I was even told its bushy and needs weeding. After this weeding, I will apply chemicals next time around. I want to irrigate before fertilization.
I will advise you not to use chemicals and to try to grow organic. Once you add chemicals, you have unable to use any seeds from the harvest for organic production - which is where the real money is.
Science/TechnologyRe: Common Snake In Eti-Osa Area Of Lagos: Is It Venomous Or Poisonous? by KingOpe: 4:02pm On Jun 18, 2019

In relation to the chair height. This one is average height with prunning done thrice so far.

I will take pics of the other farm by weekend hopefully. They are about 80 plants currently there with about 30 more plants expected to be planted there
The growth is very impressive. Can't wait for them to start flowering.

EMMAACHILE:
How many seeds do you really need? The N6000 per kg seed may not be solely momax3 as he grows many different varieties on his farm.
Most times, these seed prices are for processing to oil and not planting. They hardly grow as its stored overtime. If you want this man's number, I can give you so that he will explain to you.
I need enough for 1 hectare (1,600 seeds) so I think i should try the N6,000/kg seeds.

How is your momax3 growing?

Hello bro,
Please i left a message for you on your Pawpaw thread.

i can't afford DP's seed + shipping. I don't check my pocket wella. grin

So I'm hoping you can help with a contact for the N6k/kg seed.

Thank you

Yeah, lol. The farms i am having are not really commercial size for now. My plans for commercial level farms from 10 hectares more will be later in the year/next year.
The ones i am nursing now will be like the parent stocks for the main farm. I know an Israeli in Kaduna who has a 60 hectare moringa farm. Maybe if he allows, you could learn a lot from him on the farm. He does organic farming and exports his organic oil internationally.
His moringa seeds are sold at N6000 per kg as against the general N1000-N2000 per kg. I wonder who buys from him.
Hello @emmachile, i searched for moringa on nairaland and you came up. Please can you help me with how to get the N6,0000/kg seed. It's F1 or F2 Momax 3. I have checked my pocket well and Moringa India's own is very expensive for me.

Anyone who needs info on producing biodiesel should do his/her own research. I wanted to get the full info from the BBA but I am told it will cost from $50 upwards for a complete guide from farming to oil extraction to biodiesel production. I would have bought the booklet but biodiesel is not my focus.

My focus is more on the moringa oil and cosmetic use and the sale of the seeds for wholesale purchase.

Our moringa is growing very fast.
Wowwww. This is very impressive. Thank you for final push to buy mine. That money cost oooo

@Emmaachile
just came across your thread. I'm about to buy momax3 seeds from DP in india to start moringa seed production. I recently started moringa leaf production. Did you buy from him?

I have been unable to verify his yield claims. I'll advise you take 2.5 tons/ha in year 1 with a pinch of salt. I will do trials share but managing my expectation.

Were you at the Moringa Summit in Abuja in April?

Some people were invited for 2 more stages (one end of sept and another in oct) and some have had their medicals. I have no idea what they are up to. I'm assuming you are a commercial graduate here.
