Two branches carrying more than 60 pods broke off likely due to weight and giant crows always hovering around the place.

It will definitely fruit because the local ones always fruit twice a year. Currently, i have not seen any Moringa in Lokoja with seed pods. All are with flowers.

That's great then. It will be awesome if it still fruits this year. I am new to Moringa farming so I am still learning all I can. I planted 3 varieties - pkm 1, momax 3 and a local perenial variety from india. (It is considerably large scale and i could not put my eggs in one basket)

@emmachile, too bad about the flowers being aborted. I guess it's unlikely to fruit before next year then. I dont know anyone that planted around the time you did. We finished transplanting our Moringa last month so would let you know how it goes.

If you have observed, i have been a doubter of Momax 3 yield claims ( even though i bought and planted some myself). But Emmaachile has been confident of the yield claims so far, so i hope to be finally convinced when i see his results.

I am hoping to get a safe land as soon as possible or else may goto other states where its favourable. Its expected to last above 15 years in optimum production. This can be a game changer if all things go well.

Expected yields is as fast as 6 months and a tree is expected to produce twice a year. First year projected yields is about 2 tonnes per hectare.

A hectare is expected to host about 1660 trees

@emmaachile, how are your moringa trees doing? Going by your post in April, the 1st expected yields should be around October (6 month projection). Have you started harvesting? Please can you share pictures and updates? it's been a while you updated us. Thank you very much bro.

This new organic rave makes no sense to me, why should I be limiting myself to 5 tonnes for a plant that can produce twice that without loss in oil quality. It is something to be applied to the skin not even eaten.

At the rate the world's population is growing, inorganically produced food is the only way to go. Scientists are trying as much as possible to start growing plants with hydroponics to produce more food from less land.

Hydroponics vegetables are the best and do not need washing from farm to your plate as it is produced without soil in a controlled indoor environment.

Moringa oil is a product that can replace a lot of poisonous substances currently being used in the cosmetics industry and the market is growing insanely. Who really cares if manure is used instead of synthetic nutrient concentrates? Maybe for leaf producers but definitely not for oil producers. The fact that this wonder oil comes from a plant alone is more than enough for it to be termed organic.

Very simple.
Just try to ensure you work backwards. That is, find out the specifications of your target market and ensure your produce meets that.

I hope to be in Nigeria but as things are going, its advisable for one to have a second option.
The good thing about farming is that it can also be run anywhere especially in tropical/sub-tropical countries like Australia/USA. Nigeria is getting worse everyday especially in infrastructure and security. We can only hope for a good post-buhari era.



His prices are not varied to my knowledge. His 1kg momax3 goes for $990 without transport. He is listed with same prices on many marketplaces like indiamart, alibaba and their own website from ABC India.

Insecurity is a very big concern. There is no network on my farm, i vary my movement so im unpredictable. God continue keeping us.

@DP, That's his price for newbies �. He has different prices and i confirmed they are all from the same source.

Inconsistencies in pricing? I don't understand. The productivity of his 3.5 years tree now is about 5kg per tree already. This is averaging 8 tons per harvest already while he projected 5-9 tonnes per year.

His projections claims from my opinion are very low. Only time will tell. Hope we will all be area to dispel or hail him for this variety in years to come.

Projections can be made of any tree by plant scientist based on the root system and structure.

I even think his projections are on the low side from what I see on the ones in my house. The Kaduna mans yield for his first harvest was 30 pods for a tree I saw but its organic growth since no fertilizer and extra water. Applying fertilizer will surely give more growth of pods.

So we wait for claim 2 and claim 3.

I advice you to take everything DP tells you with a pinch of salt. His inconsistencies around pricing of the seed is already a cause for concern. Everyone i know has purchased for a wide range of different prices.

Also, i do not know anyone (including DP, the owner himself) that has waited 15-25 years to verify claims around productivity.

You should be close to harvest since it's 6 months cycle. We will wait to use that to verify claims around 6 months harvest.
