They might literally misses each other as mates probably some good positive memories. But my take is, once one is married there are some words you avoid using them not because they are bad but to avoid unnecessary questions of suspicion and all that. I deliberately trained myself not use words like darling, dear, missing you, et al to female friends or colleagues knowing that I’m married and I don’t want my partner to have emotional distress because of suspicions.
