As I got in, I saw some women around MA. Summaya walked up to me and told me to follow her outside. It was there she told me Malama Aisha lost her husband.

I tried saying things to console her, but she began sobbing uncontrollably. I couldn’t just stand there looking at her, so I gave her a hug, half expecting her to push me off.

She didn’t, so we just stayed in that position, with me whispering soothing words into her ears.

After some minutes, she broke away from the hug and just sat on a bench. I sat beside her. I tried involving her in a conversation, just to lighten her up. We talked for a while before we went back inside. I spoke with Malama Aisha briefly, saying consoling words before I went back home.

Some hours after I got home, Summaya sent me a message thanking me for coming around. I replied telling her I would see her the next day.

Before I slept that night, I called Zainab. She said she was fine and she was going to be discharged the next day. I told her I was going to see her at home the next day and then… I slept.

I woke up the next morning with a barrage of calls. My mum called to check up on me… My younger brother called to tell me he was broke (as usual)… Malama Aisha called to tell me she was travelling to her Mother-In-law’s place… Prince called to ask if I was having any ‘visitor’ that day, ‘cos he wanted to come over with a ‘visitor’ **Clears throat**… Summaya called to ask me if I could come over…

I closed early from work that day. I called Zainab to ask if she’s been discharged. She said she was still at the hospital so I went there to meet her. I met her mum there. I asked after Salim and she said he wasn’t back from school. She also said tutorials for Salim wouldn’t hold that day ‘cos he would be helping in taking care of Zainab.

Zainab’s mum told me she was going to get something from the car. That left Zainab and I. I finally had the opportunity to speak with her alone…

Me: Baby, how you feeling now…

Zee: I’m just there…

Me: I’m so sorry… This is all my fault…

Zee: Don’t say so… I was scared of being pregnant… I needed the confirmation too…

By the time he came back upstairs the lady had finished bathing and was on bed. My guy entered the bathroom too and took a bath. He said girl laughed and said He will not save you because this is not what He sent you. Then he started begging the girl.
Then, she said you claim you are not married. Whose child are they doing the naming next tomorrow.
My guy said it is mine. I am sorry.

He said she said again "you went to give money to the man downstairs. Do you think I am thief? My guy said "I am sorry you are right.

She now said "you are very lucky because you have been good to me on the way from Portharcourt. I would have taught you a lesson."
