HealthRe: Could She Be Pregnant by kittykat1(f):
I don't think she is pregnant if she has a 28 day cycle. When did the egg fertilize and zygote implant? When was the sexual actvity that deposited d sperm. We shd be expecting fertilization to happen like yesterday or today or evn tomorrow. How can she be pregnant?

sexybash: i spoke to her and we calculated it following the 14 day rule she just worried cos of the symptoms she is having but the DIY test kit clearly indicated negetive so we wait for her period then take it up from there Thanks still

CareerRe: All Practicing Female Engineers: In Here Pls. by kittykat1(f): 11:47am On Jan 18, 2013
I can relate to that working in the North African desert. By the country's laws female citizens are not allowed to work on the rigs. So ppl like us are imported to fill up the gender equalization quota.

First we fly from the town to the desert on rickety planes which are in worse condition than Dana flying coffin. Usually I am d only female on such journeys. Its part scary and part exciting. Everyman looks at me with awe, curiosity and something else that I don't know. Whn we arrive, we drive like 6 hours to the rig site with the desert sands all around. I travel in a 4x4 SUV with only Men some with turbans and bushy beards ( very Osama looking). Finally we arrive and the story goes around the rig site that there is a lady and she is foreign. As I walk around in my overize overalls and oversize boots,( the oversize is cos my small is usually not available) you see them peering, poitning and laffing at me. Let me stop here abeg. The whole experience was alays overwhelming- scary and exciting. I always felt like some exotic zoo creature cos of the way I was treated. Like u Vikin, I had to do my promotions six months later than d guys who I even tutor on what to do on the rig. These guys after their promotions still have issues wwhich I am called to troubleshoot for them. For my first promotion, another manager had to report my manager to the OPs manager and argue that I was over qauilified. I struggled to be allowed to lead jobs.
CareerRe: All Practicing Female Engineers: In Here Pls. by kittykat1(f): 10:20am On Jan 18, 2013
Since this is a Nigerian thread, I ill also add some challenges faced as a female engineer in Nigeria. How do w handle the challenge of being looked as some freaks of nature by people in the society because we are females doing a supposedly male job
Vikin: Okey and yamakuzu, you guys derailed this thread and later sent it to the food section..... cheesy, you have to write an apology letter.

Back to topic,

Welcome back, I have even forgotten about this thread, but we have to discuss the challenges we face in the industry. We were 8 female graduates in my class but only 3 are practicing.

How can we handle the challenges of combining the job with family lives?

How can we handle the challenges of chauvinism in the industry?

All these and more to come.

smiley

Studied elect/elect.

Worked as drilling service Engineer

I am now an Entrepreneur in d oil sector. My company is into servicing. We r still newbies o.
Vikin: Hey kitty kat!whats your discipline?
CareerRe: Oil Workers Zone. by kittykat1(f): 6:13pm On Jan 17, 2013
I am surprised that ppl in H.R who shd be more professional than palmoil workers use their official email to open an NLD acc. How does that conform to ur companies IT policy? So we palmoil workers are even more security conscious?
CareerRe: Oil Workers Zone. by kittykat1(f): 6:06pm On Jan 17, 2013
I thot aunty mi had left us ragtaG coconut oil workers in our jungle. Wwhy is she still here? Abg no one shd disturb Aunty o. I hv plans of her recommending me for a big contract in her coy.
CareerRe: Oil Workers Zone. by kittykat1(f): 3:30pm On Jan 17, 2013
Oyb pls don't get petty. How can u pick a post out without the question. Wow I am disappointed at the way u reason and how far u can go to prove a lie. I now understand what Swtlemon went thru on her thread. Some ppl just hate it when other ppl find good things easy in life. They wish everyone suffered like they did. Issokay Oy,I bear no grudGes. I know one day we might meet offline and probably laff about ur mudslinging.
oyb: i wish anyone who decides to follow that bizarre advice the very best of luck cheesy cheesy cheesy

of course, there are security guards, cleaners, drivers 'in d oil and gas industry'
CareerRe: Oil Workers Zone. by kittykat1(f): 3:25pm On Jan 17, 2013
So an active poster since 2007 will suddenly come to start scamming pppl. SMH at how some ppl reason. Some ppl have contacted me offline from this thread, pls let them come here and say how much I requested from them. My brother if u have nothing to say pls park one side.

I cannot prove anything to u cos I don't want to reveal everything abt me on a public forum which can be googled from anywhere. I hv told u how I made it and have asked those who are still arguing to ask 2sexy from my CV. If u need anyother credentials, I can forward them to you. Why don't u actually request for my credentials and then verify them. If its fake, then u can come here and open my nyansh.

Let's be logical abeg. Only cos I told ppl that getting an Oil job is easy that's why u guys are beefing. I will say it again. Its easy. U guys shd stop thinking that u r too special and that's why u got the job. Anyone and I mean anyone can get in there if you are coached well.

I mentioned in one of my posts that I hv retired from helping ppl. So no one shd contact me. Read hard, prepare well, network and meet ppl that can point u in the right direction. Above all don't underestimate anyone and don't pay anyone a dime.

Aqva: You look at this thread and u wonder. Everybody knows someone who works in an oil company but funny enough dey cant get there themselves. Frm what i have read, kitty kat may be trying to get people to contact her so dat they can settle her offline. i dnt knw what bluediva, oyb and jarus have said that isn't true.
The oil company is so hard to enter. I am frm the Niger delta and i knw boys who work there but are average. It is true abt the quota thing because some top chiefs are very influental and have slots for themselves. They also get paid by this oil companies monthly so that peace can reign.I disagree with jarus that the original poster may not be a Shell staff maybe he too got in through connection frm the quota thing. My verdict is that kitty kat has not been able to prove anything and it makes u wonder if almost everybody on nairaland isn't a liar.
CareerRe: Oil Workers Zone. by kittykat1(f): 2:44pm On Jan 17, 2013
Oyb, I don't think u read all my posts before criticizing but anyway, I know that at this point its all about emotions. When next una temper cool u can allow job seekers have real info instead of chasing a rat in the wrong place.

I really hope we stay long enuf for my Okomu and adapalm nyansh to open.
CareerRe: Oil Workers Zone. by kittykat1(f): 2:08pm On Jan 17, 2013
R we here to boast about where we have worked or encourage ppl? We seem to be loosing the whole aim of this thread. Pls all the Oyel and Ga workers issokay. Stop showing ur muscles.

I blv in working hard but playing harder. Job-seekers pls ignore the battle of egos and pick important useful points.
CareerRe: Oil Workers Zone. by kittykat1(f): 1:09pm On Jan 17, 2013
U are in even funnier than Blue Diva. So posting in romance section has verything to do with my real life career. U are sooo funnny. Don't u think that NLD is also an entertainment center. I rarely come to career section. I actually came to this thread cos of 2sexy. I prefer to read d romance section cos its juicy with exciting gossips.after all the work wahala, should I still come to NLD to continue working? Don't I deserve some entrtainment.

Some ppl have been lucky in life. I have ben lucky and I lik to help others gget to where I got to. U can also contact m off NLD if u want my real credentials. Maybe I might b squatting with that gateman in ur villa whose brother works in an oil coy. =))º°˚˚˚°ºНAĦAНAº°˚˚˚°º‎=))

oyb: going by kitty kat's post history 90% of which is in romance etal, i am inclined to assume this is a platinumnk type oil worker

there was a popular poster on nl known as plantinumnk, who told us she was employed in chase manhattan bank - long and short of it, we eventually found she was an intern

it may even be a case of sharing a flat with a genuine oil worker - there was a scandal like that a year or so ago thrashed out on nl where a babe got pregnant for an oil worker, only for the folks to find the guy was simply squatting with an oil worker - they guy didn't even have a degree

na today?

anyway, nigerians love all this shortcut breakthrough thinking - that there is some sort of magi trick that regular joes can use to get into oil companies
CareerRe: Oil Workers Zone. by kittykat1(f): 12:36pm On Jan 17, 2013
Darling it was nice while it lasted. At least, I can go back to Okomu to extract palm oil. You must not make everything difficult for everyone. I live an optimistic life. I don't go about discouraging ppl. I have told them that apart from having good credentials they need to network. Joining the industry is not as tough as u ppl make it sound. It wasn't for me or my friends unless maybe I don't see difficulty in what ppl call difficult. I am a possibility thinker. I can never tell anyone that its difficult. If it was d period I was zealous about helping ppl job hunt, I would have taken a NLDer to prove u wrong. I no longer have that luxury.

Anyway Ciao and don't forget that we r now friends. U fit hlp me get consulting contract for ur office?
BlueDiva: Against all the insults and negative comments i held firm to the fact that you were being economical with the truth.
After all the long post you can't convince us that you gave people jobs.

Madam, I'm not envying your 'achievements', i just don't want young graduates to be deceived.
I'm through with the thread, i sign out by saying 'you gave nothing to nobody because you are incapable of doing so'.
CareerRe: Oil Workers Zone. by kittykat1(f): 12:21pm On Jan 17, 2013
Aunty, its called NTWKING maybe u shd have used less french in ur earlier posts and b less insulting. The message would have gotten home faster. My post is not about how I helped them. Its the fact that I helped. I doubt if posting the process on a public forum so that some ppl like u in H.R. Will go and block the way for other ppl is wise.

Remember u said I was in a relationship with a palmoil worker. So I bet after a fantastic nyashing session with the recruiting mgr, the man gave the job to my friends. grin grin =))º°˚˚˚°ºнaĦaнaº°˚˚˚°º‎=))
CareerRe: Oil Workers Zone. by kittykat1(f): 12:04pm On Jan 17, 2013
Ok Vikin, u r now getting d flow. I met d gatewoman and walked into d test center. Its One of the names u mentioned. Abt 2 of my males friends did it too and where employed.

At the end of the day, what matters is that they were employed. Is it not the bone of contention? No matter the percentage, try all avenues!!! Shikena.
Vikin: Nothing like offline, it's been existing. Gate crashing for the major O&G company will work on 0.9% chance. This I mean SHell, Chevron, Mobil etc....they will just shred your CV or sell It to those groundnut sellers cheesy.

But for the other multi national that are oil servicing, like baker hedges, halliburton, Schlumberger, EXpro, etc,...it might work, but it's preferable if they tell you when the HR comes through the gate and you approach him/ her. The best the HR could do its get you when the next test is schedule but still you have to pass through the paper work. Gate crash only worked for me during my IT but it was the indigenous oil servicing not multi national, and I feel it was because I was a female and it's difficult to get female in that feel.

An advice, if you are a male...you have little percentage that gate crash will work for you, you Berra not go there grin.. Dem go see you as mad man.
CareerRe: Oil Workers Zone. by kittykat1(f): 11:52am On Jan 17, 2013
I can't throw lies around. U can meet me offline for facts. Hav u verified that I threw lies about as Blue Diva is accusing? Do u say something is impossible cos u hv not experienced it?

Don't u think that's a bit narrow minded? What do I hav to gain by decieving ppl? Pls be less emotional and more open minded. Thanks
Jarus: I am actually not against us discussing jobs in oil and gas industry in this thread. Networking is very good and can be helpful, not only in O&G but anywhere. In fact, I entered the thread with that aim. I came to share my insights and ideas. Of course, I can't guarantee anybody job, but I can offer useful tips. That was my intention from outset. But we should not throw lies around. I find that disgusting.
CareerRe: Oil Workers Zone. by kittykat1(f): 11:45am On Jan 17, 2013
Aunty we can do that offlin in private. Not on NLD.
BlueDiva: grin grin

I need to know these companies o.
Name them na make we verify after all you have since 'retired' from active service.
CareerRe: Oil Workers Zone. by kittykat1(f): 11:40am On Jan 17, 2013
U all shd remember the tone of this thread was abt using all avenues WHICH includes networking. I only gave examples of ppl that I helped to buttrss my point abt how useful networking is. Sister Blue Hotness, I wasn't trying to be arrogant or show myself o. I was only trying to help our young ppl. So pls stop the hating. I know say if I come interview where u dey, u go give me zero but in d palm oil company where I work, I know my onions. So let's all hug and make up. Stop hating my sweet Hot Diva.
CareerRe: Oil Workers Zone. by kittykat1(f): 11:32am On Jan 17, 2013
Jarius Baba, info given is general info not specific to one oil coy. Aunty is being emotional abt the whole thing. U can't enter Shell via gateman but u can enter other OIl Coys via gateman. My own company, I gatecrashed via the help of a gateman and it is a Multinational. For ppl who know its the Big B. Its usually admin ppl that fight too mush with engineers which I think is Aunty B's issue with me. Aunty I be Engineer. I no be admin staff.

You can see Vikin's tone and how very polite it is. That's how engineers talk.
Jarus: You can never 'enter' Shell through a gateman. Never. Shell has a recruitment policy that is global(not only Nigeria o. They have a standardized global procedure, involving series of stages, the most rigorous being SRD. Well, if anyone falls for scam, that's his/her own cup of tea.
CareerRe: Oil Workers Zone. by kittykat1(f): 11:22am On Jan 17, 2013
Blue diva, pls take norvasc, lexotan or valium. I hv helped ppl get jobs in Multi-national OIL Company. You can't change it. They didn't have to sleep with anyone to get the job. For some, I provided vital recruiting info, told them how to get into test centers and for one case I mentioned, we had to meet a top executive. I don't know why u are taking it so personal.

Vikin, you are really good. I am suspecting u work for the Big Blue or the Red.

Typing English or engrish on NLD doesn't make or mar my career. I thot some very smart admin ppl on NLD would know that some ppl typ with fones and thus do not have d luxury of long grammar. I hv asked Aunty Blue Divalicious to view my credentials at Okomu and Adapalm Oil Company with International wok experience and offshore palm oil production. Pls aunty ask 2sexy to send it to you. Maybe one of these days, we can meet in ur office and gossip the ppl I helped. Since I now consult, u could help me with a contract in Total bi Exxon. I hope my experienc in palm kernel extraction is acceptable.
CareerRe: Oil Workers Zone. by kittykat1(f): 9:16am On Jan 17, 2013
Swt heart, it seems that Kitty kats achivements is giving u high BP. Unfollow d thread love. You must not read it. I am used to females hating me but let's stop causing distraction on this thread it won't help the young ones. I hv asked 2sexy to send you my credentials, I hope u will be unbiased enough to accept that its real. Women pls let's leave our envy in d kitchen at worst romance and family section not career section too.
BlueDiva: You already feel inferior that's why you think I'm superior.
Quote anywhere i hyped myself.

I will continue to speak out when i see nonentities like y'all giving false info on cyberspace.
Getting a job without connection in my country requires an extra edge from the candidate.

I don't banter with simpletons like yourself but i will continue to insist that kitty kat is lying.
I don't see how what i have said should hurt you so much. Are you guys running an employment cartel here and you think my comment will throw a spanner in your plans?

Stop quoting me and if my comments hurt you so much, do us a favour and die.
CareerRe: Oil Workers Zone. by kittykat1(f): 8:49am On Jan 17, 2013
My dear u have said it all. Some ppl have complex issues. We see them in everyday life so w expect to se them on NLD. I think thy shd spend more time on the romance and gossip section not career section. I had the impression that this thread was to share positive information not for jealous green eyed females to fight other women. Naijababes for live!!! Lmao
Kingsleyinfo: You waste too much time, trying to find out why people are the way they are,
some person's suffer from superiority complex, and there is nothing you are gonna say that will change that.

Nairaland is a faceless forum, so let those that want to be English teachers continue, they can only deceive themselves on-line.
CareerRe: Oil Workers Zone. by kittykat1(f): 8:41am On Jan 17, 2013
Madam admit ur wrongs. I know deep in u, u know that u hv done the wrong thing. I have never asked anyone for money and I don't have the strnght to even help anyone on NLD. Moreover I don't need money to hlp anyone. Its not my philosophy and I don't need the money. I help strangers who don't even ask for help. I see and once I notice their need, I offer it.

Just be more polite and opn minded in the future. I wish u d best.

BlueDiva: Emm. . . stick to what you know. That's all.
I would hate to see another thread of how someone gave someone money for employment.

Stop creating an impression that is false.
CareerRe: Oil Workers Zone. by kittykat1(f): 8:32am On Jan 17, 2013
Madam, all I can say is SMH. You are just so The average Nigerian female. So full of hate and bile for her fellow woman who is succesful. I am so sorry for you. I have told 2sexy to forward u my CV and then I forward u my credntials including payment slips through him. You need serious help to be more polite and less insulting. I won't dignify your behaviour with a NLD war. I am way more matured than that.

For ppl reading, I for privacy reasons won't post my work place here. That would very silly and unprofessional of m
BlueDiva: Nobody says you must know anyone but you have to be outstanding.
Something which you are not.

Firstly, you don't strike me as smart, poor English and comprehension skills.
Secondly you keep saying you helped people into the industry and i repeat STFU, you're lying.

What is a multi national? I asked you a question and you're yapping a multinational posting you to Norway.
You didn't work anywhere close to an oil company. We know those who did even from their posts.

All you've been yapping is how you helped people, you haven't said anything to prove your case.
Where did you work? Which department? What was your job function?

Maybe you worked in Okomu oil. Anuofia. grin
CareerRe: Oil Workers Zone. by kittykat1(f): 8:29am On Jan 17, 2013
2sexy since u know her so well. Pls send her my CV. Then I can send her copis of my payment slip.
2sexy: you dont understand... it is not over humility kan kan... we know jobs are hard to find, yet people are getting in everyday...
CareerRe: Oil Workers Zone. by kittykat1(f):
I don't understand that someone says that all the oil companies in Nigeria run a quota system. That's ouright lies bro.

Or someone who knows me from no where is saying that all I said is lies. That's rally very immature and narrow minded. That she hasn't seen it happen doesn't make it impossible. Some companies may recruit via quota system but that doesn't mean that others do not recruit without the sam system that she believes. Blues Diva meet me offline if u want the proof of all I narratd there. Its very wrong for you to come out and discredit a story without your on evidence. Infact as Nlders will say its very narrowminded Nigerian.
2sexy: you dont understand...
