Dewaldg56: I opened a trade talking about my experience in cape town and I was going to mention the fact that we nigerians are not generally liked and anyone can get robbed anywhere and you have to have knowledge of where is safe to go and where is not. Some people derailed the thread because they had other threads talking about the beauty of South Africa posting stock pictures anyone can find with proper research on tht internet. Someone asked about their women and I spoke about how most of them within the place I stayed at had Nigerian boyfriends and that you don't need to spend time toasting and toasting like you would do in Nigeria. You just had to be fun and be entertaining and this was my honest observation. They came at me saying I am posting lies and spoiling the image of the country. To be honest SA, Cape Town especially is a very lovely place to live in but you must follow rules,Nigeria is not good we know but like one of my friend who has been here for long said " the average south african doesn't really think before doing you harm over something really petty". A Nigerian thief may look at you and view the pros and cons of attempting to rob you,he would think about if it would be worth it or not and if he would escape without trouble. But the people here would do you dirty if they feel like. They are like people that are high on weed that don't really think about repercussions when they do stuff. Don't get me wrong the people in offices and stores are really nice but it's the everyday people you meet on the street that you need to worry about. The whites don't really have anybody's time, they don't particularly hate but they really do not care if you live or die. In terms of infrastructure and beauty I will be honest beauty alone cape town has such natural beauty that would beat most places in US and Europe. There are no jobs here but I see that most people here are undocumented so your chances would just move to zero. If you follow rules and tailor your movements you will enjoy the improved standard of living. You have spoken well bro. Is that your thread still existing? I love to follow such thread to learn about the place I will like to visit in the future. Pls which side is safe for first timers in joburg. And what is the accommodation like. |

Basalt: In all honesty, the best decision so far I have taken in my life is leaving Nigeria for Msc in Germany. Any one that has such opportunity shouldn't think twice before taking it.
I refuse to be among those abroad that discourages others from coming. They tell you some scary stories to keep your ass in Nigeria while they keep building mansions in Nigeria.
I was in Nigeria for more than 20 years before leaving, I have only been here for less than two years and I can clearly see the difference. Start applying for scholarships too.
Happy Sunday guys. Happy rainy Sunday from Lagos, Nigeria bro. Hope you slept well. Your thread always encourages me a lot. And when that happens, it's a sign that there is still hope. Thank you. I have no good cert like that to say make I apply for masters in abroad. I just managed to get OND in mass.com in Yaba college of technology. Apart from schooling, is there a better option for people like me to move to Germany. What skill do you think one can acquire to make it over there in Germany.. |

What is the experience like. Give us more update bro, our ears are itching. When you say perm, do you mean permanent resident. You didnt present your bank statement because you were invited over by a permanent resident, does it mean the person sent you his bank statement to present at VFS. What about accommodation, is it the person's house you are staying or hotel. Ofcourse the person will definitely send you a letter of invitation. What and what did he state in the letter as the one inviting you. How did you now composed your own letter of introduction. And what about employee recommendation letter, did you submit that too. Pls bro, If I can get the sample of the letter I will appreciate.. kizitoagumadu2020@gmail.com Thank you and enjoy your stay in the republic |

Blurpy: The person should have perm residence if not a citizen of SA. Yes ,a female citizen can invite you successfully if there's proof of funds in her bank statement. No, if it's invitation letter, the person inviting you will submit his own Bank statement for assessment, you won't submit yours.. There's a simple format ,it doesn't require much details, the computer centers near vfs office have it,I can check for mine though. The invitation letter would be submitted in the vfs application,so the person should have it ready. I hope I've answered your questions You answered well bro. Thank you. This is my email address, kizitoagumadu2020@gmail.com.....pls I will like to have the sample of yours simple format for the letter... thank you |

Bagehot: You do realize that even in America, the sheer cost of treating a serious illness can send you into poverty right? At the end of the day, carefully consider your OWN peculiar circumstances, and migrate PROPERLY, cos the truth is, abroad really isn't for everyone. The amount of homelessness I have seen in London and the sheer scale of homelessness in Los Angeles should tell you that every society comes with its own challenges.

Travel › Re: Between Canada And America Which One Is The Best For Relocation by kizonero(m): 12:51pm On Jan 07, 2021 |
Jus4c: This thread will trigger an interesting conversation, honestly. I do hope the conversation would be healthy void of insults, thereby derailing the purpose for which the @OP opened the thread. Here is my opinion, which is highly subjective. There are lots of individual factors that determine which of the two countries may be the better one for different individuals. The @OP mentioned some important pointers to him/her, but I will like to write about what I personally consider the most important factor.
First is the ease of immigration, and marital status. As of today, Nigerians are not eligible to participate in the DV lottery of the USA, things may change later though. It's much easier for a single individual to enter the USA and get a PR status because he/she has more options, including getting, EB Visa( after securing H1B), getting married to a citizen. Individuals who are married and have kids have limited choices to easily achieve a PR status in the USA. In summary, it's much easier to get PR in Canada either via the regular Express Entry or through the study route, which will eventually lead to having enough points for the express entry. So, for a family, Canada may be a better option for obvious reasons; while USA could be a better destination for the singles.
Now the factors important to the @OP:
In terms of hospitality, I think the two countries are good, but Canada is better. In general, issues of crime, police brutality, gun violence are less in Canada. The concept of being a BLACK individual appears to be downplayed in Canada, at least not as evident in the USA. Please, bear in my mind that some Nigerians do practice those things they accused of citizens of these countries. For instance, jobs advertised in a particular region of the country go to indigent of the states or regions first before considering the remaining slots, if any , to other Nigerians from different regions or state! So, in terms of hospitality, I think Canada is much better for a black person or other nationalities, too. It is highly diverse and more welcoming in terms of nationalities.
Job availability is the icing on the cake for the USA. The truth is there are more job opportunities for you especially if you have a PR status. If you are an international student, there may be difficulty in getting an H1B Visa, though. A highly educated Nigerian( B.Sc or equivalent, MS or PhD) with PR status in Canada versus same Nigerian with similar qualification with PR status in the USA; I think the Nigerian guy in the USA with PR status has better job opportunities. The only thing I want to add is that if the Nigerian in Canada achieves a citizenship status, he/she can work in the USA if he/she is in occupation that qualifies for the TN Visa which is renewable every three years 'perpetually'. TN visa does not require any employer sponsorship. Lots of Canadians are using this TN visa to work in the USA. So, the thing is if someone likes to work in the USA but finds it much easier to immigrate to Canada, such an individual should strive to achieve the Canadian citizenship, and get a job in the USA. Some Canadians living in boarder cities like Windsor in Ontario do this. They commute daily from Windsor to a work location in Michigan.
The economy of USA is sure bigger than that of Canada. The thing is Canada too has a good economy, and getting a good job or doing sustainable business is what individuals should focus on here. One does not need to be where the economy is stronger in this case.
With respect to health care, Canada takes the lead. It has a better health care system than USA, at least for now.
The quality of education is the same. However, cost of education in the USA is higher. There more funding opportunities available in the USA than in Canada. International students find it much easier to get funding in the USA than in Canada, even if their programs are non research -based. The education program for kids is the same; free from Pre-k to High School.
In summary, it depends on what every individual wants in life, and one's peculiar situation. The USA has a better weather in most cities as compared to Canada. One thing I'm sure about is living legally in any of these two countries as a PR holder or Citizen, may not make one a multibillionaire but provides a good quality of life and it does help to set up one's kids for unlimited opportunities. I'm open to correction in case of any inaccuracies in any of my submissions; learning is a continuum. Peace. What is this EB and H1B visa? |
