why not also try schools in Canada? That will increase you chances Ehimax: Good day all, I've been following this tread not too faithfully because of work, it's been quite tough working to save up money for this US student pursuit. We have a lot of knowledgeable people in this forum. I went to enquire what it will cost to have my MSc application in the US kick started by a travel agency and the money involved was something else. I really need you guys to lead me through the process because you guys have always encourage everyone in this forum to do it by them self. I finish with 2-1 in microbiology, my project was published in the Amerian journal of microbiology but I was stated as the co-author. I currently work with a multinational company, can all this influence my chances in getting a Visa. Thanks for your anticipated response. |

baodium: How should I start self? Well, GA is not automatic . I am a CCNP and I really doubt they used that as a yardstick (in my case). However, I know three things can get you assistantship; 1) Your profile (GRE, GPA, SOP, etc.) 2) Your experience (if you have some industrial experience or you have published a paper) and 3) Availability of funding. Of all, the third seems to be the most difficult to predict. My school used to have a lot of funding for MS in CS (but not anymore). However, I am almost certain you will get full funding if you come for MS in maths, physics or chemistry (My friends with way lower profile than myself got full funding before coming over). So if I told you that there is no funding in my school, you will automatically assume there is no funding in all departments. Funding is in cycle!
Solution:
1) The best thing you can do is to do a lot of background research about some schools. Sincerely with your profile, you should choose some good low ranked schools to boost your chances.
2) Send an email to all the professors in the dept (I can send a good template that I have been using to you - you may need to review some of their research papers tho).
3) Pray to God!
Good luck! bros, please help send the mail template to klawreal@gmail.com and please where are you studying? thanks |

adeyemidare: Focus on building your current and final CGPA to be a minimum of 4.5 or 4.0. By then, come back and research that when you done. Canada may be different story when you done but with that kind of CGPA, you can go anywhere God wants you to go. please Bro. does that mean that any body with lesser GPA than 4.0 but still within second class upper can't get findings? please advise. thanks |

abestine: Some schools waive GRE/GMAT/TOEFL etc . in Manitoba, some department, waive all those test of English. Contact a potential supervisor that u may be willing to work with or the admission officer in ur department to request if it can be waived.
I applied to Manitoba, department of community health sciences without TOEFL and was given admission, most of d work was done by my supervisor over there.
So contact someone to find out hello Bro, I am also included in seeking admission to u of m. I have mailed one of my potential supervisors and the dept that I wish to be admitted but I did not receive any response from them. please kindly advise. I would like to go for thesis based program for the winter entry. Your response will be appreciated. thanks a million |
