Thank you RomanZeus, I really appreciate your contribution. However, I just tried what you recommended and the Port is still seen as closed on www.canyouseeme.org

RomanZeus, please, have you had success before doing port forwarding in this kind of network connection?
Computers / Re: Remote View For CCTV Cameras by klems4real: 9:01pm On Dec 01, 2015
@all, I finally went to the ISP office today. And here is the breakdown of the cost to get my requested service.

Installation Cost (Radio, Router, cables etc)..N50,000
Monthly data plan of 10GB at 1mbps speed..N15,000
Port Forwarding cost per year........N10,000.

I was totally discouraged after hearing that.
What is the way forward?
Please, did you guys pay this much?
Computers / Re: Remote View For CCTV Cameras by klems4real: 8:17pm On Nov 30, 2015
Yeah @wale. The essence of this topic is to share ideas and unravel any mystery behind this challenge so that others can learn and make reference to it afterwards. However, I made my findings today about getting a static IP address, and a friend recommended me to one reputable ISP firm here in Uyo, unfortunately, I couldn't visit them today due to some circumstances beyond my control, but will do so by tomorrow morning. Cheers!

@ycomics: and khorlynz: Thank you my bros for taking out your precious time to guide me through. I will make enquiries by tomorrow about some ISPs here that can provide me with a static IP address for this purpose, and will keep the house posted until success is achieved. Thank you all once again

Wow. Thanks bro, I really appreciate your contribution. It is so unfortunate that these service providers you mentioned are not in my town yet (Uyo, Akwa Ibom State). Does it mean that I can't work with any of our available GSM internet broadband service providers? I really want the Router and the USB modem connection for convenience. I also want to believe that there should be a way out.
Computers / Remote View For CCTV Cameras by klems4real: 11:34pm On Nov 28, 2015
Hello gurus in the house, I bring you all greetings.
I want to remotely view my DVR cameras on the internet, but am having some challenges. Here are the details of what I have done so far.

1) DVR is from laview and I have assigned a static IP address of 192.168.1.100
And a default subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 and also disabled the DHCP option on both the DVR and the Router.
2) Went to laview site to register for a free DDNS service which they offer, and got my user name, password and domain name which I entered in the DVR DDNS settings section.
3) My Router is TP link TL-MR3420 with an AIRTEL USB modem plugged to it for internet connectivity. The mode of connection selected is 3G only. And I can Browse the internet through the TP link Router with My laptop. The Router has a LAN IP Address of 192.168.1.1 and a default subnet mask of 255.255.255.0.
4) Port forwarding is done on the Router to open the communication ports of the DVR which are 80, 53777and 58000. This I did by entering the IP address of the DVR 192.168.1.100 and the port number 80. I Repeated the same process but with the next port number until the last one.
5) Went to www.canyouseeme.org to test if the ports are opened. But I got an error message. "Connection refused" while testing for all the ports I opened. Although, I got success logging in to the DVR internally with the local IP address that I assigned. But, I can't access the cameras remotely when I log in from an external network by typing the domain name I earlier created. Please, gurus in the house, how do I proceed from this point? Thanks in anticipation

ahmakar: hello people!! good job to the people that started this thread, God bless you"all. i want to apply for an mba program in a canadian university. i have Vancouver island uni in mind buh my options are still open. will like an advice and info about life in viu and and recommendation. and is it wise to use an agent? for that i already consulted bcie but still skeptical about them. thanks and reply asap.
My dear, you are in the right path. As it stands now, you dont need any agent to process any admission for you. You all do it now all by yourself. Though it requires a lot of reading and commitment from your end. You can simply go through this thread. (www.nairaland.com/search?q=travelling+to+canada) you will definately be fine.

I don't think so oh! I think it is needed oh, or can you shed more light, I got on when I applied online oh, and I don't agree that online require less documents. I think he should include everything you can include so long you can resize your documents to 4mb, I applied in a hurry the first time and I got a refusal in 3 weeks and I repackaged my applications again including other documents I dint submit the first time got my TRV in 6 weeks. Better to be safe!

Well, no doubt! Different strokes for different folks.
By the way, what was the reason for the denial? Was it based on Police Clearance?
One thing I have discovered about this Canada pursuit is that, it depends solely on God. Be it as it may, package your application well, and leave the rest to God. It is well!

trodon: Please i also want to find out how much police clearance costs. It was 5k back then. My wife will be needing one soon. Many thanks
Bros, I can see you really want to help and I love such heart. Police clearance is not required in the online application. In fact, the online route requires less documents. It is fast and efficient! Although, if you still need it for something else, 5k would be enough to get it done. All the best!

@BayUsman:..
Go to any Federal High Court with your Original and Photocopy of your SSCE result. Ask for the registrar. Tell him/her that you want to do Certify True Copy of your result. Your result will be certified for you and you will be charged a little fee. After that, send the certified copy to your school. That should be ok. All the best.
Notesadyou can scan the certified copy and save it in your flash drive for future reference while sending the hardcopy of the certified one to the school).

thanks boss, i agree with u on the college issue, but the truth is paying for college and masters again will be a big issue to talk my parents into...
Alright Bro, what did you study in your undergraduate level? And what makes you think that you cant see yourself through when God blesses you with a good job after college. Masters would be the least thing to think of after college except in a very rare case. This is so because, you would consider working to earn some money and also gain some experience, you would also want to file for PR. You should be talking about more professional certifications after college and not Masters. Abi na only school you come this world to attend?

Bros, please do have any idea where I can do my pgd in production and industrial engineering?
Alright bro, sometimes it might be somewhat difficult to get an exact program name you just mentioned. I believe it has a lot to do with Mechanical Engineering. The idea here is to go through colleges that offer Mechanical Engineering and go through their curriculum. Most of the colleges have courses that deal extensively on production and industrial engineering. And they may simply call the program Mechanical Engineering Technology.
You can give Seneca college a try. Though it is a three year program there, but you might be asked to start in semester two or three depending on your previous academic background. Send an email to the school and for faster and quicker response call them. All the best.

tonybunor: hello everyone!!! im having a problem with my agent, he is currently helping me with admission in one college to do a PDG even with a 3.9GPA simply with the excuse that its easier for him to get my admission letter into the school, and dat if finally i get my visa i can ask for a refund of fees and change to any university of my choice.. pls howz dis possible?..
Well, sometimes, it can be a pain in the neck to secure admission into a Masters Program in Canada. This is because, you have to write to a potential supervisor that shares your research interest and then wait for his/her response which can be a long wait. And sometimes, the response is usually NOT encouraging, as most of them have got a handful of potential students with a very high CGPA on their wait list. I will advise that you go through the college route. If you studied something technical like Engineering or Science here in Nigeria. Look at a place like NAIT or SAIT (Northern Or Southern Alberta Institute of Technology). They are practical oriented, you would get back the knowledge equivalent of your money. Even in Nigeria, companies love to hire people that have good hands-on and I believe it is applicable everywhere in the world. This Masters of a thing sef, no be still theory and some lab work (if at all). Bro, finally, look for a college that has got good hands-on and even before the program ends, companies are already seeking for you. Also, if at all you want to come back to Nigeria after the program(which I doubt), you would still be very relevant to companies.
NOTE: There are some entry level jobs that pay more than a college professor(like submerged Welding). All the best.

lols...... calling me lazy..... You got million miles to run to catch up with me. grin

Please, pardon the guy. As it is seen in his user-id, Bishop4APC. He is either a politician or political stalwart. Probably he does not know what an ordinary Nigerian go through to survive in a day.
........
Why do you call it a scholarship, when the beneficiaries are children of Ministers, Senators and Governors?
...........
......They say, education is the key to success! But in our case, ASUU don spoil the padlock.......
...........
The system alters the flow of education, you don't graduate at the time u should graduate, as calculated from the time you started. You grow old within those walls, sometimes the delay erodes the entire knowledge you had so far acquired, if any. When the strike is over, you try to reboot yourself so you can get into the studying frequency again. It's hightime we asked, what has been wrong with this country's educational system? The people at the helm of affairs in ASUU, do they in all good conscience, embark on this strikes for the benefit of the educational system or for their personal gains ? Your guess is as good as mine, because the strike actions have brought no results over the years. In 2009, the ASUU strike that started in June was cosmetically ended on friday, the 23rd of October, because Nigeria was to host the junior world cup from the next day 24th. The government required a parallel reason for ending the strike. Students had threatened to disrupt the flow of the world cup event if the lingering strike was not "briefly suspended". ASUU is on strike, and the President Goodluck Jonathan is on pilgrimage in Israel. He acquired 3 private jets in one purchase to the tune of $155m [NGN23bn] during the heat of the ASUU strike in 2009. Imagine what NGN23bn could do for the ailing 27 public universities at the time. The unfortunate reality is that, after all of this, employers thereafter call you "half-baked".The aviation sector is in comatose, planes are going down everyday and the Aviation Minister is acquiring bullet proof cars, infact she is currently dining and probably seeing the sunrise at the beachside with the President in Israel. The Nigerian airspace as been nicknamed the "most unsafe on the planet". The country puts you in a corner wherein you just sit and hope that all will be well; but as Mitt Romney would say, "Hope is not a good strategy", moreso in a country like ours. Even if the strike ends tomorrow, it doesn't guarantee there will be no more strike in the not too-distant future. We suffer a dysfunctional and irresponsible leadership in all spheres of the Nigerian endeavour. I pray and hope we can correct this a bit in 2015. I weep for my fatherland, but how far can my tears go? If you are a non-Nigerian reading this, please amplify my tears by crying for us.

Thanks bro. I just feel a lil lost with the degree I came out with. I will mail you. Thanks again.

My brother, dont be lost at all. For the fact that you had a 3rd class does not mean that you are out of the game.... Infact, in the coperate world, it is mostly people without degrees that are making it. Just like Chrigo has said, you dont need an agent in this adventure. Be the agent yourself. Use the money that you would have consulted an agent with to buy an internet data plan and browse. Goto www.cic.gc.ca download all the study permit application forms. Start filling them on your own even though you are yet to secure any admission, at least that would help you to know the documents or information that are always being required of applicants. The agents dont do magic or anything special. In fact, Chrigo has armed himself with a lot of information from this forum that he can even open a consultancy firm for people who want to travel to Canada. Feel free to consult him and others at any point in time. I believe they will be more than willing to help you free of charge... It is well.

joseph1013: God! This thread is so overwhelming. You guys are doing such a great job. **doffs hat**

Please guys, I need your help. I want to go do my masters in civil engineering in canada, and then settle down there for work. I have a third class degree though.

Where do I begin please?
Yeah, your journey begins here. You have to do some research and gather the required information yourself. If you had gone through this thread from the beginning you would not be asking this question again because it had already been answered. Anyways, to save you the stress which is not the best for you, go to www.google.com check for colleges in Canada that offer one year or two years diploma Certification in Civil Engineering. Send an email to the admission officer and make your enquiries there, you could be admitted .... I heard of a guy who had a third class back then. So many people thought of his case as being hopeless considering the Nigerian labour market being saturated already with people having First Class and Second Class Honours yet no Job. He didnt give up hope, he applied for an Apprenticeship program in one of the Canadian colleges and got admitted. To cut the long story short. He is now a Canadian, married with kids, working and enjoying his life over there... You can also check for some Apprenticeship Programs in colleges like Algonquin College, Ottawa and other colleges that may catch your fancy.... It is well.

So your time begins now...

My great people in the house, I bring you greetings. Happy independence day to everyone, although its kind of belated, but we are still in the season. By the way, are we truly independent? This is because, it doesnt seem so to me. At 53, we can not really boast of anything other than corruption which has eaten deep into the fabric of every established institution of Nigeria both home and abroad.

My fellow prospective students, the Canadian TRV is worth all the struggles, do not be discouraged or relent in your quest for a quality life. We all truely deserve it. Hence, do not limit your search or quest here alone. Try youtube as well.
www.youtube.com and in the search bar, type words like: ''before arriving Canada'', ''Save Time: Send a Complete Application''
etc.... The ones you dont understand, come here and ask..... Our ogas at the top (egbon Siga, Baba Fehhhmo, Delta007 et al) will certainly do justice to them. I must commend you kjbobo for the fully Funded Schorlarship Program you adverstised here for us. We need more of that from others as well.

Please, our ogas at the top, continue in your good work. Do not relent in answering our questions though it may seem repeated or vague to you, for what we repeatedly hear or read is what we will eventually believe.
My prayer is that, your reward in life will have no end even unto your generations yet unborn.

With total dismay, I saw on youtube yesterday how our very embassy in Canada maltreats Nigerians who want to renew their passport. One of the victims(lady) promised to burn her Nigerian passpport when she becomes a Canadian citizen.....

If you are interested to see the video:

Go to youtube and type this in the search bar ''Nigerians Frustrated in Nigerian High Commission Canada''

God help us.

Sometimes, I weep for our dear country considering the number of people that want to leave for a better life abroad. Ranging from, quality eduacation, constant electricity, access to motorable roads, access to good health facilities to name but a few. People Praying and fasting for their TRVs to be granted at the embassies. In the process, some get outrightly duped of their hard-earned money all in the bid to travel out. And the successful ones struggle with extreme weather conditions just to survive over there. The common man wakes up everyday without hope of what to eat. Graduates roaming the streets for employment, and some even get duped out of desperation and some are forced to take up menial jobs just to survive. If at all there are openings for employment, the openings are being hijacked by the politicians and the highly placed. However, with respect to the on-going Nigerian Immigration Service recruitment exercise, I learnt from sunnewsonline.com (yesterday) that there are only few hundreds of vacancies available and more than six million Nigerians have already applied. To make matter worse the application is not free, you are to pay a non- refundable application fee of one thousand naira, with no chance or hope of succeeding at the end of the day. Why do we have all the natural resouces that keep other developed countries going and yet we live in abject poverty? Who is that MESSIAHA that will convert the wealth under our feet to the wealth in our hands?

Well, I would recommend you give Canada a try. This is indeed a good time for you to start preparing towards that. Though you have to do quite some research on your own. The last time I checked, Memorial University of Newfoudland was the school with the cheapest tuition in Canada both for Domestic and International students. You might want to research on that as well. By the way, Go through this thread (www.nairaland.com/1229480/travelling-canada-part-4/402 ). It will be of great help. All the best
