What Windows installation disk are u using. If u have used different disks as bright suggested and they problem still persist, I would suggest u delete your hardisk partition, create another one and then do a format. If it continues, check ur memory.

NnamdiN: Resurrected a dead dell D600 series from win XP to windows 7. Everything seems cool but there's this huge X besides the speaker icon and I get this error msg (No audio device installed) I have done everything I found on the internet but it seems this one is beyond me. Any help?

By the way it crashes every now and then. Right now it has refused to come on. I get the ''no boot device installed'' error msg. It doesn't even read the CD for repair, I don't wanna go for a lower windows as I have done a great deal of installations the last time it worked.

My bother windows 7 on a Dell D600? The system was not designed to run Vista talk less win 7. My advice here, run a low level format on ur Hdd, if it does not complain of bad sectors, then I will advice u downgrade to XP, if it does, change the Hdd, and install XP. But if u still insist on 7 at least upgrade ur RAM, download win 7 audio driver for D600 if its available, that should take care of the audio problem. But I will still advice stick to XP.

On the optical drive issue, u may want to use another disk or try another drive.

All lights on may indicate a faulty mother board, does it give out error codes through beeps. But remove the ba3 first plug to ur power outlet and start the laptop, if it continues, u may want 2 take it to a tech, after u must have probably exhausted other advice on this forum.

Naturaly is shouldn't run. You can not run a 64-bit application on a 32-bit host system. The host system or the app will advice u to run a compatible program. On the other hand u can run a 32-bit program on a 64-bit host system.

I wiped the system and re-installed the windows this afternoon so i cant think of any start up programs cause i have not installed any application yet and it is still the same (not still booting or loading windows after 5mins plus and whenever it loads I am always afraid to shut down the laptop). But the laptop is 2gb ram and I have had both windows 7 and 8 installed for sometimes now and really it was working fine until now. One thing I can say i do intermittently on the system and it is formatting my system whenever i notice any form of malfunctioning.

Since u have formatted and reinstalled windows, u have rightly eliminated the OS, or any interfering app. at this stage, if u still want to self repair the laptop, I think u should consider the RAM, since the problem appears to be delay in loading the OS. But what I will also do is remove the Hdd and power the laptop, to see if the same delay will also occur when the BIOS starts searching for bootable device, this will enable me eliminate the Hdd, and focus on other things like the RAM I talked about. If the 2GB RAM u have is of made up of separate memory stick, u can remove one stick and power d system, do so with the other stick to see if tthe system works well with either stick. If all fail, u may likely take it 2 a repair shop. Best of luck.

It may not necessary mean that the it's just d video adapter is failing, OS related problems can equally cause that, even faulty Hdd has also been attributed 2 Such problem.

Oga u didn't indicate if its a desktop pc or a laptop, and does it go off intermittently after it has succesfully loaded. Anyway boot ur system from safe mode and observe if it will still take up to 5 mins before loading. If it doesn't I will suggest u disable some start up programs including if AV via safe mode, and then restart ur system, and check if the problem persists. If the problem persists, it could be anything from OS, or the video adapter like 1gig said, ur Hdd can also be a culprit, But If am d one working on the equipment, I would like to eliminate the OS first.

It should be made mandatory that HND or Bsc should be the minimum educational requirement into the Nigeria police force, with corresponding remuneration. Those with lower academics qualification should be relegated to office work only and should not be made to interface with the general public.

I want 2 believe Win7 is not the default OS that came with ur equipment, considering ur system configuration, u system will be challenged to perform certain tasks. I will suggest u downgrade back 2 XP, but if u still insist on Win7 try another video and audio player like VLC.

Install another copy of pes 11 and try disabling ur A.V while playing, and don't forget 2 update ur display driver.

Of course, there are utility softwares that helps recover lost files, that is no problem. If u r sure and not assuming that t'was the OS that crashed, then u need to find the cause, maybe ur Hdd is failing or the memory. Try file scavenger pro or recover my files pro, but it this case a working system will be needed to host ur hardisk.

Gentiejag: I was watching a movie on my system today in my room wen my sister came in and i paused it. After she left, i tried playing the movie burr it would not play, i thought it was hanging and i let it be.
After some time, it still wld nt play, so i tried switching off the system. It brought this message in a blue background, quite long, white prints, for a split second before going off....all i could catch was ''windows has undergone a problem'' or sumfin lyk dat.
I tried switching it on back burr it would stop booting at the samsung welcome page. Later on, it was booting burr discovered my keypads aint working...not all, burr most of it therefore i cannot type my password.
I switched it on and off severally and the keypads aint still working.
So i pressed F2 for setup at the samsung welcome page and did sum security things... I changed d supervisor's password nd sum oda tings.

The keypads aint still working, my project is on ds PC and i got no backup.

What you need to do is to start ur system, from safe mode. When u start the system, tap the F8 button repeatedly, and select safe mood, then check if u can log into Windows. If it goes thru, u can now restart the system and c if the keys work.

Please try to do a system restore if there is an active restore point in ur system, to see if the program folder will be restored, btw how did u go about deleting the program folder, windows would have warned you about the action u where about to take. If the system restore does not work for you, try to create a folder in ur local drive C: name it Program file, then you will have to re install your applications one by one. If this process may be a little challenging 4 u and u have enough data plan to download file scavenger, download the application and use it to scan for lost files, problem is recovery software are best optimized if the drive with the missing folder is hosted to another system, but this should not prevent u from trying.

is that u mistakenly Uninstalled the programs, or u deleted the program folder, which u can easily restore from the recycle bin. Or is it the shortcuts on the desktop that u deleted. U cannot delete the control panel.

Explain more on the "not starting" is it that it is not booting properly or does not power on at all.

Just post ur system configuration, like the size of hardisk, memory size, processor type, is it Intel based processor like P4 or Celeron, or AMD Durion and it's like, then you can be appropriately adviced either to upgrade or even to down grade.

I seriously believe the problem of the two systems is from the OS and not the RAM, but still cannot eliminate the RAM yet. I think first, he ought to try to start the system from safe mode. Safe mode can do magic at times. If the system still restarts in safe mode, op should try repairing or reinstalling the OS.

bedfordng: since it has stoped working, it could be an hardware problem.if it is, then you would have to take it to a computer engineer near you to replace it.you can try checking if it is disabled by right clicking on my computer and choose manage, then click on device manager and scroll to usb to see if it is disabled or not and or insert any usb like flash drive and see if it would show up as triangle on the device manager

Yes it could probably be a hardware problem, laptops use add-on cards PCMCIA, u don't replace a USB port, OP will need to get a USB PCMCIA card, to use in place of the on-board USB port, if, assuming that the on-board USB is bad. But first Op, do what onegig said remove all usb device from the device manager, that is if the system can even detect the usb, scan for hardware changes or restart the system, Could be an OS issue.

bedfordng: will advice you to buy new pc if you have by adding money to what it may cost you to replace it.they may charge you up to 40-60k.mother board is the computer it self so replacing it is like buying new computer.

@ bedfordng, I am not down with ur suggestion. so if ur car engine is worn out, won't u be more inclined to replace the engine than buying another car. @ OP, if u stay at lagos, just jejely carry ur laptop to computer village ask of any reputable repair centers that can diagnose the equipment, it may not even be board problem(just shine ya eyes). if they confirm its the board....I believe u r not a kid, u should know what 2 do from here, but all in all it shouldn't be more than 23k, and don't 4get u did not state the version of the pavilion, may get a lil bit higher depending on availability and the version.

I just tried the modem in another system and it worked

since u tried it on another pc and it worked, so the issue of network is eliminated. we will look at some things that comes to mind now. Virus, corrupt OS, or u did actually install an application that hinders packet transfer. I know some application that once installed on an xp system, MTN modems will never transfer data. So if u did install any app try uninstalling it and test ur modem again. Update ur AntiVirus or AntiMalware and scan ur system. If u have a valid restore point, do a system restore to a date the modem once worked with ur system. And also try uninstalling the modem app, and install again.

OP when ur guy is out, u advice him to take another line of work, maybe he is not cut out for the transport business, could as well be a warning sign.

ncpat: You are on your own as I have never heard of system asking for bios password if not set, are you sure the system belongs to you, when last did you use it and are you sure nobody has access to it.

overdrive: House pls my hard disk drive failed and on wanting to change it the laptop was asking for a bios password which I never put in d first place,can somebody help me out.I use a zinox lappy.

I have seen this type of incidence happen often, even on Genuine owners of the Equipment @Overdrive the best way to reset the Bios password is to contact the manufacturer i.e Zinox to send you the reset code after you have proven u r the legitimate owner of the laptop. On the alternative, The Bios locks ur system (don't worry once u restart, it normalises)after u must have tried to input the password severely, it displays a code, post the code here and the Manufacturer of the BIOS eg Phoenix, i will try 2 send u an unlock code.

3hrs, search 4 McAfee Antivirus Uninstall tool, do use to scan for any remnant of McAfee, then use the Ccleaner to scan ur system again.

Again which of the AVG is Taking this long, is it the downloaded version or the one u bought, if it is the one u bought, do this, do not install from the CD, create a folder on ur desktop, name it AVG, copy all the content of the CD and dump in the folder u created. located the Executable file of AVG, in the folder, then try to run it.

Please the should enforce the law very strickly. AIRTEL NG is the biggest pest when it comes to unsolicited text messages, and calls. I don't know what got them hooked on my line, I get their calls at least 3x a day, and they annoying thing is that they keep on changing the number of that freaking!! controlled Bot service. Imagine calling me in the middle of night, about some crappy freebies!! And worse they will blow ur cylinders when you are expecting important calls!!

Probably the flash drive is bad. U will need a utility software like Recover my files, to get ur data back.

ACTIONSAS: IT is 2013v. at 1st i try to Dwnload It online but as the error keep on occuring after sevral attemps, i then decide 2 buy the soft copy frm the maket, when try to install it from the disc the thing shows same error code as to when i was trying to dwnload it online. the code is: 0*E001D027, with an aditional msg: 'an un expected runtime error occured'. pls the second number in the code is 'times' not 'star' thanks!

OK and you've been able to download and install other stuff without getting a similar error?.

Please try to install the AVG on another system to check if you will get the same error or not, if yes then the installer package is corrupt.

Do you have any other Antivirus or Antimalware that u have installed on your system, if you do, i will advise you download the uninstaller package of the particular Antivirus/AntiMalware and use to completely remove the prog, then u try installing the AVG again.

Download Ccleaner it is a free tiny tool for cleaning and fixing registry errors, use it to scan and fix ur system if there are errors and try AVG again afterwards.
