Politics / Re: Iron Ore Deposit Found In Kogi, Worth Billions Of Dollars by knotty(m): 9:36pm On Oct 04, 2012
Going further, Kogi has a claimed 488million deposit of Iron Ore, assuming they can extract, package and are ready to export a meager 1% of that per annum, think of the logistics involved in that alone.
Your average truck will convey only 30tons/carriage. conveying 4.8mts of Iron per/annum will amount to having `160,000 trucks on the road.
Imagine that number of trucks at 1% of Iron Ore export/Kogi State alone...... joooor
Again, this Ore we talk about are STONES...pure BOULDERS. They are not precious in their raw state at all.

Dear Kogites, hear this;
I am not disparaging you. I just want the right information passed on about this Iron ore thing.
Kogi is as richly blessed with mineral resources as are other states in Nigeria, Iron Ore not being an exception or a new discovery. Obajana cement plant is not situated in that State for naught.
It is just plain worrisome and dumb Kogi, Nassarawa, Zamfara, Plateau, Gombe and Taraba have all not collectively pooled their political resources into developing one endless cash-cow nature had endowed them with. Somebody educate me on this, please..
Assuming we are at infancy as a nation and we cannot harness resources needed to create a vibrant smeltering mineral resources industry; the least we can do is export.
Now, if all these states cannot collectively clamor for a rail line that guarantees their generational wealth, then, perdition to them.
It is as simple as that.
See the distribution of Iron Ore around the world and show me Kogi there please, now or forever

Where will the world be without mining?
Post-Stone age perhaps.
Mining is not the problem.
The problem is the corruption of everything called PROCESS.
We have found ways to circumvent all decent processes that guarantee environmental safety because some govt officials must make a few quick bucks here and there and miners must cut corners in the face of seemingly lax regulations.
Yes, mining comes with attendant environmental problems, but there are compensatory processes that ameliorate those inconveniences but the lax business environment we find ourselves in allows those problems to quadruple.

NRI PRIEST:

You danm negative!

Because blind optimism has kept a lot of folks in perpetual despondency.
Do you have a functioning processing plant to cook the Ore? Is Ajaokuta alive? def def no. It then means the only option available to any miner is to export the ore.
But, you cannot make any meaningful export of Manganese muchless Iron because of the weight of the product.
Only rail can carry Iron ore from source to the point of export.
The investors know this and that is why they are not in a rush.
Politics / Re: Iron Ore Deposit Found In Kogi, Worth Billions Of Dollars by knotty(m): 3:37pm On Oct 04, 2012
Without a functioning rail system from source to loading vessels, your Iron ore deposit is useless.
The logistics of moving Iron is so huge that your price will never be competitive internationally except the grade is above 60%. Where will you get that.
Besides, USA/China have some sweet Iron Ore deposit that they can completely ignore Kogi State...Where on the map is that State again?

Hey, Garri Activist, please, move to the next street, hawk your Garri and stop abusing people who have earned a reputation for delivering on promises made, online realtime.
People have bought cars without ever setting eyes on the sellers, how much less is a frigging phone?
Keep your disbelieve to yourself and let those who want to be a part of the next generation of Nigerian entrepreneurs keep their hopes alive.

80% of Hausas wear traditional garbs to anywhere that catches their imagination yet all the textile manufacturing concerns in their states are moribund.
Chinese hawks bringing in textile will never see our textile industries thrive.
Kamoru, abi na Jonathan, control your borders, minimize smuggling (u can't stop it) and watch that industry come alive again.

Romance / Re: How Expensive Is Your Relationship? by knotty(m): 2:15pm On Aug 30, 2012
Mine is cheap because she loves me deeply and truly.
I hardly have to spend on her other than keep her ATM updated per month which is just a mere 300k
be sure she gets her bi-monthly West Coast trips when she is not going to europe
Support her purchase of stuffs she fancies on Ebay
As she likes nice things of life as much as i do, we have to do buffet a stingy 4times a week at Radisson; though she would have preferred we had a permanent suite there. Her meek and understanding nature has helped keep our feeding bills at a reasonable cost.
All in all, we are both happy not minding that her friends are pitying her deplorable relationship for dating a poor man.
She is my girl.

How come JTF is not murdering or committing genocide is Kano?
The reason is easy to see, the host community is not condoning the insurgency.
Intelligence shared is a war won. Guerilla warfare thrives only with active support of the host community.
That alone makes the community an enemy. Soldiers are trained to identify enemies and deal with it. Those conniving Borno and Yobe guys are enemies...and in war, you kill enemies.

@CHIMSKY^^^^^
Ordinarily, nothing is patently wrong with your home assumption that education holds the key to a woman,s freedom other than the naivety that comes with such reasoning as you timelily found out.
Who wants to pore over some nonsense books when you can have it all dropt at your doorpost by a poor boy who has tolled and toiled all his life to have a girl at his armpit called by his name?
But then, this line deviates from the discourse of this thread.

Family / Re: Where Did Our Daughters Learn To Be Materialistic? by knotty(m): 12:02am On Aug 15, 2012
Materialism ko, raw material ni.
You aint seen nothing yet.
Better be ready to spend your kidney and liver to maintain a relationship in the days ahead.
The fight to live it up is intense and will not abate anytime soon. So, please, spare us all that sermonizing.
Girls of today are in a league of their own and we men propped them up to that position.
By we men, i mean we fathers, boyfs, wannabe lovers and lovers.
Of all of these mothers are the worst culprits because no one is closer to a daughter than the mother.
So, like mothers like daughters.
Like fathers like sons.
Who wants to drive a 505 now when you can do an AudiA8?
We all are materialistic in this new age and time.
Values? That died with Noah and was washed away by the flood of his time.
Fashion / Re: Is The Importation Of Clothes To Nigeria Illegal? by knotty(m): 3:37pm On Aug 11, 2012
There are 2types of prohibitions: ABSOLUTE PROHIBITION and TRADE PROHIBITION.
You will not find clothes as explicitly banned items in Import Prohibition List.

What you will find is TEXTILES and its Articles. Now, there are subsections within the Chapter relating to Textiles which have been unbanned but, these items are not fully kitted clothes which you and I wear. They are LACE, EMBROIDERY MATERIALS and the like which are raw materials for the textile industry.

So, Clothes are import prohibited items.

However, you are allowed to bring in clothes provided they are not of commercial quantity. The parameters of determining commercial value rest with Customs at the point of entry.
Therefore, your brother can send clothes to you from anywhere in the world and you will not be denied access to them so long as he does not send you a trailer load of jeans. I have received goods from overseas without any issues at the post office.

If the delivery is door=to=door, you do not even have to pay Duty as the Duty has been factored into the shipment cost.

Let me add that COMMERCIAL USED CLOTHINGS are ABSOLUTE PROHIBITION. In other words, OKRIKA are totally not allowed for Importation. The question you want to ask is, how come there are more used clothing than there are new ones in the market? Imagine a Lagos without AKUBE…
If you deal in clothing importation, please, use airfreight for your shipments as the airports are still easier to pass through than the seaport.

Romance / Dont Get Carried Away By Olmypics Athletes, Girls....they Are Fakes by knotty(m): 5:36pm On Jul 28, 2012
Hey , my dear womenfolk, please, do not get carried away by what you shall be seeing on TV in a month from now. It is not permanent but just a celebration of what ought to be in an idyllic situation given that we all never had to work or earn a living outside our perfect physicality.

Those chiseled bodies you will be seeing in the Olympics are aberrations of the true body. They are a fiction of myths created by the Greeks long before you were born. Never, ever compare your man to them. It is just a game!!! The game will end and you will know what I,m saying.

We men were made to age gracefulllly with little pouches here and there. We were made to even suck in those pouches for good picture poses. Some of us have those pouches even underneath our chins, yet, they take nothing us.

In your mind and head, don’t compare us with those guys on TV. They are athletes, no more, no less. We are HUSBANDS, LOVERS, FATHERS, BROTHERS, NEIGHBORS, COWORKERS, and BRETHREN no more no less.

Haba, it is not as if I am jealous or something, it just that we need to be careful; especially with those swimmers…..Did you see Michel Phelps and Chen? They look like gods.
