Prudent5217: KODACK, as much as money is important in life. Not everyone is desperate to be rich. Some of us find it comforting just been able to sort out our basic needs. I got a slogan in life “No matter how much you get for account. Na die we go die one day and na one idiot wen no know how man take suffer go chop the money”. If I tell you now that since I finished service 90% of jobs I applied for are strictly humanitarian jobs. I know say you no go believe.
You have a point here.
Is it your believe, shoe??.... Leave me to believe my believe in peace
Prudent5217: Common sense would choose Total. But as for me I don’t have sense I have never been cut out for civil jobs all my life from NMS till today. So the pips is more fulfilling to me
Bakar1: So many inputs but let me just leave this here.
SSC or DSSC just know this you might be lucky enough not to face the North East at all, some DSSC guys Both Chaplin's and Imams are there fighting some SSC guys are in office. Some SSC are even defense attache self. But the SSC it all depends on your course, sometimes.
The point to note is that there's battle everywhere. our Army's here in this part of the world are doing the job of the Popo and the customs, and that breeds more danger.
Note with this you can be ambushed anywhere, everywhere anything Uniform work is very risky, even the lowest uniform work a Gateman he's the first point of contact and Target so you should be up for anything and everything.
The battle is everywhere in every region most people who are in the NE even out live some posted to crime free zones.
Last SSC some soldiers were ambushed I think they rushed one of their guys to NDA medical centre if am not mistaken the guy might have been dead even before entering the building.
You don't need to be in the NE for you to be in war, crisis no matter how little is a war on it's own, the thing there is are you prepared physically and mentally for what's ahead....?
There's the issue of kidnapping, militants and all sort where we still loose our soldiers and unform men.
What you should have at the back of your mind is, is this what I want to do...?
Less freedom and all.
Everywhere is a battle field from the start of you seeing your name on the list to you hanging pip.
It's never an easy terrain most of us just want jobs some got jobs but most want job security, others want fedral job, for some, I just want to be identified as a military personnel.
But if you don't try how would you know what's best or what's not, if you don't try how would you know if you end up Dead or not, we not God, no one knows tomorrow, you might be there and boom you'll flourish and become Generals.
Every die na die them say but who wan die them say. But baba we all go die that same die someday. You'll don't get discouraged if it's all destiny it would still come to play. This life na like CD you play your part you pause you reflect but one thing for sure it would surely end.
Be your personal motivator oh, no one would feed you some people this is the job oh, every other job they applied no chance but this, once they just apply boom they get their shot no connect nothing, but if you loose guard it's all up oh.
As for medicals it's best to check everything before going your BP Blood test ECG Tuberculosis and all. Not all abnormal ECG are wrong it depends on your readings the cardiologist reads, and if you BP is high it's better to start managing from now, and other stuffs it's better to manage from now.
You have to be a Strategist, a critical, and a tactical thinker to maneuver you way in this life oh even in the military.
This been said....... I have a simple question for all of you.... Be kind enough to truthfully answer this Question.... God is watching liers.
TOTAL gave you a job and asked you to resume next week Monday 8am...with the below details; 1. 24 million per annum (basic salary minus allowance and bonuses) 2. 13th month pay 3. Expense free vacation for you and your family 4. Contract span 20years 5. Hmo, insurance, assurance benefits with constant promotion 6. Sponsorship for two wards education abroad
Nigerian Army said you should resume that same Monday by 9am, without screening,no training nothing...... You will hang two star n 5 year promotion, with all the usual basics an officer deserves.
Don't lie, which one will you resume to.... TOTAL or NIGERIAN ARMY
sampet555: Blood Pressure (BP), as minute as it might seem, is very very important as far as our health and Nigeria military is concerned. BP disqualifies most people. Half of disqualified candidates at the last screening was as a result of high BP.
Then you'll begin to wonder, as a youth, what possibly could cause high BP.... You get back home and straight to the clinic to check your BP only to discover your BP is superbly normal... Then different thoughts will begin to fly in your head, like 'the medical personnels are incompetent', 'army just want to disqualify people, it's not a true reflection', 'village people' and so on.
But let me tell you one major cause, it's anxiety. Anxiety raises BP. Anxiety is your number one enemy in on NDA soil. Learn to fight it.
People with more Knowledge on this, please help us shed more light. Let's talk on how to fight it.
Kodack Shobroy10 Ugo4u
Please put mouth sirs....
Medical doctors in the house please contribute.
You can't use suppressants, it would be detected.
SSC people mostly
Firstly, don't take drugs to suppress your BP....... Its harmful to your kidney, liver and bladder..........trust me, abstain from that.
Am currently working on my BMI, I know a couple of drugs I can take that will over beat the BMI standard but the after effects is disastrous........ Before I go to work,I skip ropes 400 times.....after work I skip 400 times....even more when I have the strength........... For the last 3 weeks I stopped taking carbonated drink(coke etc), no starchy food.....my new meal comprise of beans, egg, wheat, brown sugar/honey, vegetable soup with lots of obstacles in it, and fruits...and I sleep wella... I have dropped over 5kg since then..... without drugs, even I still do have temptation to take .
Now, back to your question.........
THIS IS HOW TO BEAT YOUR BP RANGE TO NORMAL.
1. drink lots of water. 2. Avoid pepperish food 3. Sleep well 4. Listen to cool music 5. Take a hike, soft one....not quick 6. Engage in turgid exercise but for a short time 7. Do breathing exercises for atleast 5 minutes...morn,after, night 8. Take fruits and vegetables 9. If you have a girl, flog her once in a while......not three times daily oh....once in three/two days ( this has effectively dropped bp of men within the range of 30-50 through research and those I have treated).....don't cheat, and remember...AIDS is real. 10 avoid quarrel, fight, argument 11. When you think too much(which is not avoidable) ...end it with thoughts of how far God has brought you (you are not sleeping under bridge e.t.c) or think of your crush...or see your self counting cash, not as a banker ..but your own real cash .
12. Lastly.....have this at the back of your mind... FOR ALL THE STRUGGLE YOU ENGAGE IN TO MAKE IT IN THIS LIFE, YOU WILL END UP SIX FEET BELOW.....SO WHY WORRY.
calm down....and have fun
NB: no BEER/GIN !!!!!!!!!!, Go for red wine (900-1500) and apple instead
Boyka007: This guy. Shey u know say she be my state babe ni....u bether begin bribe me with tubers of yam and bottles of palm oil so when u come for list I go make things easy for u

gargoyle: The Nigerian armed forces and their lack of special operators and covert ops units. My thoughts:
I have often wondered:
Do we really have special forces personnel on the Nigerian Armed Forces?
Every serious military should as we are in an age of wars left and right
I'm not talking about the pretenders we keep calling special forces soldiers ooo but real special forces soldiers that have undergone harsh training for at least 2 years in various aspects of warfare; both conventional and unconventional suited to specific mission purposes.
The US has at least 8 different types of Special operative soldiers in their Special Operations command that can be called up for various missions. E.g.
The Delta Force Unit
The Navy Seals of which Seal Team Six is the most elite unit of all seal team units.
The Green Berets
The 75th Ranger Regiment
The USAF special forces Paratroopers
The Marine Raiders
The Marine Force Recon
The Night stalkers (Special flight forces)
The CIA Special Activities Division (aka CIA Special Operations Group): They are the best of the best and their activities are very very very very very very very top secret. They are made of the best Special forces soldiers selected from the above spec-ops unit and trained again for at least 9 months. Some of them are so good that they are called out of retirement.
These are the ones I can remember right off my memory. Trust me, I didn't even need to check the internet for these units again because I have studied and read about them for at least 8yrs (no jokes). Many of these units have a rich history some of them dating back to WW2.
Now some of you are bragging here about how those that didn't want to die chickened out and I hear stupid statements like "Khaki work no easy", " they no get liver" and other stupid shit. They prolly realised that the NA doesn't care for its personnel in the battle ground and leaves them with 1950s and 1960s equipment to fight a well funded and internationally backed terrorist group with better equipment and armor. Nobody wants to die for such a military that withholds benefits from the families of the fallen soldiers.
Now don't get me wrong, I wasn't one of those who ran away from training. Even with my BS and MS degrees at age 24, I wasn't selected after applying for SSC multiple times at different years. However, I think it was God at work because looking back now, I don't think I can be truly patriotic for a poorly underfunded military like Nigeria's whose generals have since sold their souls to Lucifer (ISWAP) for money.
Now back to my little essay:
These elite units are highly funded with air support and drones and with the latest weaponry and kits and they aren't owed allowances neither are they secretly buried after they are KIA. In fact, its rare for the US to loose so many Spec ops soldiers in one day like the NA does.
This led me to the following conclusions:
The Nigerian Military has ill-trained soldiers whose only ability is foolish slogans like "Morale high" and "Kawai".
The Nigerian Military has no Spec-Op units. Taking selected men to trained for 6 months in a funny country like Serbia doesn't make them special operators. Average time for Spec-Op training in the US is 2 yrs after which each operator undergoes specialized training ranging from 6months -2 yrs depending on special skills to be learnt (e.g signals and common, Medical, etc).
The Nigerian Military is a Joke and has been reduced to Chicken shit no thanks to bad leaders. This raises another question: Does the Nigerian Military give out awards for bravery displayed in the line of duty to soldiers that go above and beyond in the face of enemy fire. This raises the morale of soldiers and their respective units. The awards are doled out posthumously too and the US regularly gives out wards for bravery to both living or dead soldiers. E.g.
But here is a country whose tales of gallantry displayed by soldiers against the terrorist are unknown. Please if you know if such tales, kindly tell them here as it will raise the morale of those going to the battle field.
I have now reels out what's been eating me about our military. You guys should feel free to share your thoughts, opinions and constructive criticisms etc.
Gos bless Nigeria and good luck to those who have applied and those fighting or going to fight in the North-East.
Wow..... Touching.....you have a point there.
To the SSC guys who ran away from training, I retrieve my harsh statement towards them and I apologise.
Jhennie: Aww.. Are you sure I won't crush it and throw it in the deep sea? You never know..
No wahala, as long as it's you that would do the crushing..you will as well see how much you love me in my heart......... Make sense...... My colleagues would fix me up
gordonchuks: Oga Kodac, I speak within the contex of my faculty which is the faculty of art. English, Media commucation studies of which public relation falls within are both art courses ok? your analogy using Computer science and English does not correlate at all, besides, you should have made reference to a course within the faculty of arts. I hope you get my point Kodac?
TochiPhotos: Hi everyone, welcome to my diary. Many of you might remember me from my previous diary about my life in Moscow, Russia. I moved to Saint Petersburg from Moscow and I've decided to open a dedicated thread to document my life as a foreign student in Saint Petersburg, Russia.
I’m a Nigerian student, I study at the Higher School of Economics Saint Petersburg Russia. This thread will basically document and share my life and daily experiences living in Saint Petersburg, Russia. I hope you guys will enjoy and find my diary interesting.
Chapter 1 - The second coming.
I moved to Saint Petersburg from Moscow towards the end of 2018 and it was mostly because the Saint Petersburg campus had suitable programs entirely taught in english, whilst the Moscow program only had Masters programs in English. The other option would have been to continue studying in Russian language at the Moscow campus, but here is the tricky thing. My university is a very prestigious university in Russia (Top 3 in the country) and the standards are very high. There is this thing in my university called dopsa, so if you fail 3 exams in a year, you'll be expelled from the university and deported. So that means that out of 14 to 20 courses in an academic year, you can't fail 3 courses or you'll be expelled and deported as soon as possible. So I basically moved to Saint Petersburg to study in English because I do not know enough Russian to study entirety in Russian language and not fall behind in class. So my moving to Saint Petersburg was strategic.
A little about Saint Petersburg.
Before I begin, I want guys to know that words alone are not enough to describe how beautiful Saint Petersburg is. I honestly do not have enough adjectives to describe how magical and beautiful this city is. I've lived in Saint Petersburg for over a year now and I'm still awe struck. The center of Saint Petersburg is a Unesco heritage site and there are so many beautiful monuments and buildings all around the center. The center of Saint Petersburg and the city in itself is an architectural masterpiece.
Some nights when I'm sad or worried about something, I just take a quick stroll down the historical city center. Nevsky propekt is so beautiful at night, brilliantly decorated lights, amazing architecture and so on... It's the city of dreams and there is no headache or worry that taking a walk here cannot heal. Saint Petersburg is simply magical and I am a bit sad that I might have failed to accurately describe how beautiful this city is and I hope the videos and pics that will come later will be better.
Life in Saint Petersburg vs Moscow
I've lived in the two cities and I honestly prefer Saint Petersburg. Apart from being the most liberal and European most city of Russia, Saint Petersburg is just not beautiful but people here are much nicer than in Moscow. Saint Petersburg and Moscow are two contrasting cities, Moscow can be likened to Lagos, chaotic, busy and over populated. While Saint Petersburg can be likened to calmer cities like Enugu, Abuja or Calabar. Life is much easier and simpler here than in Moscow and most importantly, things are cheaper too than in Moscow. But like every other city, Saint Petersburg has its disadvantages too. Because of its proximity to the baltic sea, the winter is much more brutal here. It's windier and colder here than in Moscow. I'll do a more comprehensive comparison of the two cities in the future but I'll always advise prospective students to pick Saint Petersburg over Moscow.
Racism.
I know many people are curious about this. I can't pretend or lie racism doesn't exist in Russia but Saint Petersburg is the most liberal city in Russia, so even though some kind of subtle systematic racism exists here, it is still the most welcoming city for foreigners in Russia. I will do a more in depth video or post about racism in Russia in the near future.
Black in Russia.
Like other cities in Russia, it's still difficult to see black people here. Maybe because those that came in illegally during the last world cup don't leave their apartments. But that aside, I think Saint Petersburg has a higher number of black people than other Russian cities. My university has at least 40 or more African students here at the Saint Petersburg Campus.
Last Semester, my university held its annual Culture fest and I was invited to represent Nigeria at the HSE Culture day 2019. I prepared jollof rice and at the end of the culture fest, my jollof rice was adjudged the best food at the fest. It was really exciting to know that many people were genuinely interested in learning about Nigeria's culture, food and way of life. I'll post pics from the event below.
Also with me were my friends Florence and her younger Sister Grace. They both go to my university and they are really wonderful people. Words alone are not enough to describe how amazing Florence and her Sister are. I remember last winter, I caught a cold, I couldn't breathe properly and I honestly thought I won't make it through the night but Florence and her Sis sat by my bed all night, with aboniki balm and prayed fervently for me till I fell asleep and when I woke up in the morning, I was better. They're super amazing and you guys will see more of them soon.
Also, I just opened a YouTube channel called Afro Rossiya TV. My aim is to document and share my first hand experience as a black foreign student in Russia so please subscribe to my channel. This is my second video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WNAACpu7znM I went on the streets of Saint Petersburg and asked Russians how they feel about Africans and Foreigners in their country so please watch, like and share my videos please. The opening of the video also has some aerial shots I took in Saint Petersbug.
