Victor Banjo
Jih baba you wanted to say Tunji Banjo but the man in Afcon 1980 picture was John(Johnny)Orlando a Ghanaian who lived in Ilorin and played for Water Corporation of Ilorin and later Shooting Stars. He is now living in United States…..then we had Ghanaians in Nigeria league and some played for eagles like Louis Boateng.

This is Tunji Banjo below,he joined eagles in 1981,playing for Orient in English league but now loco pilot in UK.

Johnny Orlando and Tunji Banjo lookalike and people do refer to the former as Tunji Banjo

I still prefer chukwueze to simon because he is potentially dangerous in attack than the latter who is average
Regarding Super eagles you can’t dropped Simon and keep on inviting Chuckwueze

I doubt that guy wants to play for us and now that he is in a top club starting games it will be more difficult
Adarabioyo personally invited Eguavoen to Craven Cottage but according to insider Peseiro said he has better players,Adarabioyo got the info and relaxed….Eguavoen should be the one to do the job.

You're missing the point. My statement has nothing to do with the people you mentioned and the point you're trying to make.

Someone mentioned me and said that Dessers is not as good as the players who get called up. I replied by highlighting the Goal per Game records of those players, with regards to the Super Eagles, and compared them to Dessers' Goal per Game records in the Super Eagles.

If you had gone through everything I wrote, you'd have clearly seen that Dessers outperforms most, if not all of the players I listed. So how are they better than him in the National Team, if he has a better Goal per Game record than they do, despite the fact that he's played just 322 minutes for us?

That's the head and tail of the discussion. smiley

Yes he deserves eagles call based on his form no doubt about it

He had better recover fast and get back to form cause Nottingham are looking for a new striker next transfer window who is younger to replace him according to reports on their subreddit...he might end up in Turkey at this point cause no top club will risk spending big money on a striker with his injury records.
When times comes Awo will cross the bridge like other players.

I think you are over stressing this Awo talks….pls is the injury self made?and funny you labeled him WASHED as if you did not watched him in EPL…..if you don’t rate him just say it,nothing new.

We all agreed with you he doesn’t deserved last call up.I said it pages back that him and Iheanacho needed to be dropped

it's still debatable Sha. On sofascore his record for us is 7 matches 1 goal but then the only time he seemed to have scored a goal for us was during the Saudi friendly and they recorded his goal as own goal on their own site. on Transfermarket, he is recorded to be the goal scorer but anywhere else it was recorded as an own goal. Even if you look at the highlight of that Saudi match you can't really decide if it was an own goal or scored by Boniface cause the angle was somehow.
Boniface has zero goal for Nigeria but his form in Leverkusen always gives him the rating ahead of others except Osimhen

If you're talking about club performances, then that's debatable, but if you're talking based on National Team (Super Eagles) performances, then I beg to differ.

I don't like making comparisons but since you decided to bring it up, then let's talk about it. We'll look at some simple stats. Globally, strikers are judged for their goals, so that's the metric I'll be using. Ready?... Great. Let's get straight to it.

1) Taiwo Awoniyi has 2 goals in 9 matches for the Super Eagles, meanwhile Cyriel Dessers has 2 goals in 6 games for the Super Eagles.

2) Sadiq Umar has just 1 goal in 11 matches for the Super Eagles, meanwhile Cyriel Dessers has 2 goals in 6 games for us.

3) Victor Boniface has just 1 goal in 8 matches for the Super Eagles, meanwhile Cyriel Dessers has 2 goals in 6 games for us.

4) Terem Moffi has 4 goals in 18 matches for the Super Eagles, just 2 goals more than Cyriel Dessers, even when he's played times 3 of the matches Dessers has been involved in.

5) Paul Onuachu has 3 goals in 25 matches for the Super Eagles, meanwhile Cyriel Dessers has 2 goals in 6 games for us.

Overall, Dessers has played just 322 minutes for the Super Eagles. That's approximately 4 games, yet he's scored two goals.

So, my brother, looking at those stats, do you still think those players have performed better than Dessers in the National Team? Numbers don't lie. Facts don't care about feelings. The only strikers right now with very decent numbers for the Super Eagles are Osimhen and Iheanacho(who many don't even consider a striker).

I don't even want to talk about the fact that Dessers was the highest scoring Nigerian in the whole of Europe last season. With the way he's been scoring this season, he may end up doing it again.
Hope you remember Ricky Owubokiri stats in Europe and go by your stats on Dessers,Victor Agali would have been all time best eagles striker

LMFAOOO so what's Awoniyi's level? playing for a mid table club with no single G/A this season? I'll take George a million times right now over Awoniyi
Alhaji, lovewins has given you honest opinion on Awoniyi but it seems you don’t want hear any of such.

Yes Awoniyi doesn’t deserve eagles call up for now but you are too hard in the man with your word “WASHED” …….or you forgot the same Awoniyi was unplayable In Nottingham Forest and singled handedly saved Forest from relegation, even last season he came back and start from where he stopped and after three matches he got injured again, even missed pre season and league is just 5 matches up but Awoniyi to you is a WASHED…..the man that scored against Liverpool,Chelsea,Arsenal and Manchester United.

I agreed with you on his call up but you are too harsh on the man.

Moses simon is an average player. You all keep mentioning him because he is a regular international. Left for me, his time is over
Simon Moses time is over? Abi not the same Moses that gave assist to Lookman against Benin.I think he still needed if player like Chuckwueze is still getting invitations despite not too impressive outings with eagles.

How is hyping Ademola akin to comparing him with Osimhen? Where in my post did I mention Osimhen, or is Lookman not currently the best player in Africa? Or is it because I am the one that typed it? I have seen you here hype players like Awoniyi to the heavens, and nobody has ever said you were comparing him with anyone.

You lots are all quick to jump on anyone that doesn’t praise or scream Osimhen’s name. It is getting stale and should stop..
My opinion is my opinion... Your opinion is your opinion... Opinions don’t have to be the same. It doesn’t mean 1 is right and 1 is wrong.Opinions are subjective and understanding this is healthy. You as a “self-acclaimed” elder should comprehend this.
Y’all be so egotistical that you believe everyone should feel and think like you.

Oh on Awo,I never hyped Awoniyi here but always pointing something out when anyone is trying to downplay him unnecessarily….if you go 6 pages back I said Awoniyi or Iheanacho should be dropped for Ejuke….mind you Awo is like a son to me,in fact he is my neighbor, his house is closer to mine in new GRA Ilorin.

Monikers like TheSuperNerd, thegoodjoe, charlesemeka do understand my views on Awo

Villarreal signed Udom from NPFL but the things Villarreal did not see we are seeing it here…if he’s a foreign born and groomed in Europe with this abilities it’s news and next thing how do we cap him.

Taribo West was not better than this when he left Nigeria league to Auxerre….Troost Ekong was below average even in Olympics games but
today we are having solid Ekong.

Congratulations Udom Ekaette, hope to see you making it.

Chidera Ejuke is very consistent in one thing: dribbles.

He is currently number 1 in La Liga according to Fotmob.

And currently number six in goal scoring chance creation.
This is the reason why I congratulated you on Ejuke moved to Sevilla.I know stats will start coming out,yes a good dribbler.

If you can used goal creation to rate Ejuke in la liga then why asking what is Fisayo doing in eagles cuz I saw him involved in Osimhen goal against Benin.

Fisayo has just 4 caps with a goal but to you he has no business with eagles.

Thegoodjoe gave you honest opinion on Fisayo.

Pls is there any difference between goal participation and goal creation cuz here Ejuke had no goal participation.

you said it all about Saka, same thing I have said here many times

Saka is just good at the basics, he knows when to make a run, cut in, shoot and to release the ball, the reason I say he strikes more to me as a LB because he lacks flamboyancy (though not necessary in today’s football). Nothing fascinates me about his game rather I find him boring to watch

Samu’s problem is that he overdo things sometimes and doesn’t know when to apply the basics or hold onto the ball but he is more flamboyant and explosive

My ideal Left footed winger/forward currently are Yamal and Olise
Oga Charles finally you don appreciate Michael Olise,I gbadun Olise

I stand with you in your last paragraph. I love ekong as a person but never rated him as a player, even my love for him made me ignore some of his mistakes since debuting for the national team but it’s a thing of joy to see how far he has grown and matured as a player

Our current defensive set up is porous without Ekong’s presence. He is now that colossal figure that is needed in every team’s defense line. Seeing him in our defense of late brings some level of confidence that I can’t even explain. The older he grows the better he gets

I think it will be ideal for the national team handlers to start grooming a young CB to take over from him and the sooner the better. His wealth of experience and exposure will be a great learning tool to any young CB he takes under his wings.

It’s high time the national team handlers look beyond Awaziem and co and try out younger defensive talents like Ogbu,Okoli,Fredricks,Vince etc as under study to legendary Ekong
Yes legendary, winning Afcon best player no be small thing o,hope to see him breaking Keshi’s record……oh another CB who would have done better is Leon Balogun but he came late to the party ,age not on his side

I think his point is more to the effect that we should avoid the kind of comparison that can drive a wedge between the players.

I think we can agree that Osimhen gives or provides Lookman with space to operate.

Inevitably fans will compare one player to another. We can't help it. It is for the players to have a big heart and keep the achievement task as more important than pursuing personal glory
Your last paragraph summed it all….I love the team spirit yesterday and there is need for Eguavoen to sit Osimhen and Lookman down to avoid Yekini/Siasia scenario against Ivory Coast

I have never seen Ademola Lookman play in the manner he did yesterday.
Offensively and defensively he was everywhere.
Oga Meli, you don’t rate Lookman and it’s normal in football just say you got it wrong than telling us that you never seen him played like he did against Benin.

He did it against tougher opponents Cameroon,Angola or you forgot his cross to Osimhen against EG.He worked offensively and defensively in Afcon….Lookman is a player to be rated after Osimhen in eagles.

I don’t rate Ekong but I ate my words.Ekong is my number one in eagles defence, even in my top three rated eagles players list…Osimhen,Lookman and Ekong.Another player that is catching my attention is Onyedika, his foots on the ball is a class.
