Nigeria players to me are the most hyped players in the world and if not for Chelle, these were players that would play against minors like Chad and Lesotho and would end up losing every battles on the pitch, mostly midfield battles even when players like Ndidi and Iwobi were playing. Then again, look at Chukwueze and Simon whom in 2026 still can't cross the ball accurately.
Only very few of them are truly talented, Osimhen, Lookman, Iwobi, Bassey and now Frederick and of the lots I think Lookman is the most refined and none is upto 8, including Osimhen.

Building the team around players like Ndidi,Simon then we should forget world cup again, that's basic truth,missing two world cups is like 6 years in a career of a player

Seyi was unfortunate to miss out on the 2010 WC but to be fair egbon he wasn't playing his best football during that period.

For Kaita remember he had been part of the u20 & 2008 Olympics squads that performed creditably under Siasia so it wasn't that he was a federal character pick. Even in the 2010 AFCON he was a decent performer. As per club football he was featuring in one mid table club in Holland then.

What changed Sani's career trajectory was the needless red card he picked against Greece in the WC.

In hindsight that 2010 squad should have done better in SA if not for infighting and Managerial wahala.

Sani Kaita career already nosedive before 2010 world cup,not even the red card,his club career was damn poor prior to 2010 WC or you want to tell me Kaita was having best of football as at that time than Seyi.

Seyi played at the highest level when compared to Keita but I believe what gave keita an edge over seyi during the team selection for 2010 World Cup was that keita was good at the Olympics 2 years prior to the World Cup as well as performed very well in some of the games he played for the super eagles during the qualifiers. The only notable club keita played for were Sparta Rotterdam and AS Monaco where he was a certified bench warmer before moving to Ukraine, Greece and others

I think Seyi was with either Hull city or Stoke in the epl then. I know he played for Brann in Norway then moved to wolves in the EPL, wolves got relegated and he moved to Stoke before Hull city if I’m correct
